Chapter 23 of 100

Chapter 23

3 min read769 words

Somehow, we've made it all the way to the boss area of the 50th floor...

Honestly, I didn't think we'd get this far without any major issues.

The opportunities for the guides to step in and defeat the bosses when the new parties were about to lose increased as we went deeper.

But that's to be expected.

Still, the newbies seem to have gotten used to exploring the dungeon over these three days, and today's schedule is significantly ahead of plan.

"Then, let's quickly defeat the floor boss and head to the celebration!"

Selma calls out to the guides while casting various buffs.

"YEAH!!!"

The floor boss on the 50th floor is a giant crab monster.

It's generally large, but its left claw is as big as its body, making it look very unbalanced.

I have a significant role in this battle.

—To cut off the troublesome left claw.

The crab's claw is very hard, so it would normally take a while to cut it off.

I take the lead and charge at the crab.

While running, I cast the necessary buffs on myself.

The crab raises its left claw to attack me.

It's convenient that it's setting up the perfect opportunity for me to cut it off.

I kick off the ground and leap over the crab's head just before the claw comes down.

As I cross paths with the crab, I aim my sword at the base of the left claw.

I activate the "Instant Ability Super Boost" just before the blade makes contact.

"Instant Ability Super Boost" is one of my original magic spells.

The effect is simple.

For a moment less than a second, this spell can forcibly increase the performance, durability, and power of the equipped item or magic to up to 100 times its original value.

As I delved deeper into the study of magic, I discovered a bug in magic.

Even though it's a glitch, it doesn't affect normal magic use.

I established the "Instant Ability Super Boost" spell and a certain technique by exploiting this glitch.

I do feel a bit guilty, but using these doesn't have any fatal drawbacks that threaten people's lives.

The difficulty of constructing the spell is very high, but it's one of the skills I've mastered thoroughly.

So, the difficulty of constructing the spell is not a barrier for me.

As a support magician with low buff values, I use this without hesitation to survive in the deeper levels.

This is part of my identity.

And even though it's useful, it's essentially a cheat.

Therefore, I never reveal this spell.

So, it's a spell that only I can use.

My sword cuts through the claw without resistance, severing it at the base.

I fly over the crab and land behind it.

"Are you serious!? You really cut off the claw in one hit!"

From the other side of the crab, I hear Bernard's excited voice.

You didn't believe me when I said I'd cut it off with the first strike, did you?

The crab tries to turn to attack me, but before it can, the two defenders approach and draw its attention.

Without its most troublesome claw, the crab is just a weak monster covered in a hard shell.

The two defenders attack from the front, while I focus on the legs from behind, pinning it down.

Selma and Cathy concentrate their attack magic on the shell from above.

When the shell starts to crack, I stab my sword into the cracks.

The crab's body turns into black mist in less than five minutes.

◇

The two defenders collect the magic stone and monster materials and return to the newbies.

Everyone is smiling and congratulating each other on the past three days.

(What a good clan atmosphere.)

Seeing this scene warms my heart.

But I don't join in. After defeating the crab, I couldn't move from the spot.

(Still, what is this feeling... It's like being in the deeper levels...)

The atmosphere around the middle levels is so different that it makes me tense up.

As I'm thinking about this, the space at the center of the boss area suddenly distorts.

---

Right after that, a black, giant something appears with a roar like thunder.
