Chapter 31

"Today was quite a day..."
After the instructional exploration ended, we newbies were sent home immediately.
But, it can't be helped. After all, that happened.
My sister hasn't come back yet.
She's probably still running around everywhere, I bet.
Lately, my sister has been looking very busy.
I'm really worried she might end up overworking herself.
After coming home, I ate dinner right away, took a bath, and changed into my pajamas.
Now, I'm recalling today's events to write the report we were told to submit to the teacher.
First, Orun taught me various things.
Things like the mindset of a mage and parallel construction.
They're all difficult for me right now, but I want to gradually learn them.
During the journey, I fought alongside Logan and Caroline, but our coordination wasn't as good as usual.
There were no instructions from Logan, and Caroline would rush in immediately.
I was afraid of friendly fire, so I couldn't really participate in the battle.
I wonder if I'll ever be able to coordinate like my sister's party?
I need to be more proactive and talk more, instead of being shy.
In the end, it was that black dragon's sudden appearance.
I don't know much about it, but apparently, it's a deep-level boss that even my sister's party couldn't defeat.
When that dragon glared at me, I felt more fear than when I was surrounded by orcs last time.
Just thinking about it now makes my body tremble.
I think I finally truly understood how scary the deep levels are.
It's understandable that my sister's party lost to such a being.
But Orun defeated it all by himself!
"Again, I was saved..."
This is the second time Orun has saved me.
I can't thank Orun enough for his kindness.
I don't know how to repay him...
If anything happens to Orun, I'll do my best to help him!
I can't even imagine a situation where that would happen...
Still, Orun's serious expression during the battle with the dragon was really cool...
He usually has a gentle face, so it made it even more impressive.
Is that what they call a "gap"? He was really cool.
...Thinking about Orun makes my face feel hot...
While fanning my face with both hands, the door to my room opened.
"I'm home..."
My sister came back.
To be honest, she looks really bad.
She looks extremely tired.
"Welcome back, sister!"
My sister wobbled over to her bed and dove right in.
"Sister, your clothes will get wrinkled. And you should at least take a shower before sleeping."
"Ugh..."
I haven't seen my sister this tired in a year.
She looks more like she's troubled.
"Did something happen?"
When I asked, my sister reacted.
"......Sophia, what did you think of today's battle between Orun and the black dragon?"
After a long pause, she asked.
"Huh? I thought it was amazing. Orun is so strong."
When I gave my honest opinion, my sister seemed to lose her energy.
Did I say something wrong?
"......You didn't understand it because it was too far removed from your experience, right?"
"Huh? I understood it."
"......What?"
My sister gave me a scary look.
If a child saw that, they might cry.
Don't give me that look, family member...
"Orun's movements were really fast, and he was jumping around in the air, using black flames from his sword, and casting spells I've never seen before, but other than that, it was basic positioning, right?"
"Basic positioning?"
"Yeah, as a newbie, I've been attending various lectures in the Exploration Management Department. They taught us the basic positioning for each role, and Orun's positioning was the same as what I learned. For example, he was doing the positioning of a rear attacker and a defender at the same time."
My sister's eyes widened in surprise.
Today's my sister is a hundred faces. It's a bit funny.
"Now that you mention it, it did look like he was handling all the party members' positions by himself."
"Right? So, today's battle with Orun was really helpful! Orun said that what's important for a mage is how they can contribute to the party even during downtime. I feel like Orun showed us one answer. So, I want to work harder and become a strong and cool explorer like Orun!"
"One answer, huh. Haha. Sophia, you're amazing."
My sister looked relieved. I wonder why?
"No, I'm not. You're the amazing one!"
That's right, you're the amazing one.
You showed me a different path when I thought I had no choice but to follow what Father and Mother said.
I'm grateful to you.
I respect you for earning praise from many people with your own strength.
"Thanks to you, Sophia, I've made up my mind. Thank you. Well, I'm going to take a shower. Want to sleep together tonight?"
It seems like something clicked for her.
I don't really understand, but I'm glad my sister is feeling better!
"Sure! I want to sleep together for the first time in a while! I'll finish the report before you come back!"
