Chapter 61

It has been three weeks since I joined *Yaten no Ginusagi* (Silver Hare of the Night Sky).

During these three weeks, we have repeatedly dived into the lower layers, gathering the materials we needed while strengthening our teamwork, which has significantly improved. Of course, the original four members have become even more cohesive, and I have also come to understand each of their thoughts. Additionally, thanks to Selma's ability, we can communicate constantly. As a result, our coordination mistakes are quite rare.

We could challenge the deeper layers now, but we are waiting for my sword to be completed. Once the sword is ready, we will finally begin exploring the deeper layers.

On days when there is no exploration with the first squad, I help Selma with her paperwork or train the tenth squad.

There were also days when I was taken by the headmaster to have meals with sponsors or visit the executives, but nothing particularly noteworthy happened, so I will omit those details.

Right now, the members of the tenth squad are training in the indoor training facility within *Yaten no Ginusagi*’s grounds.

"Ugh! I’m so tired! I want a break!"

Carol’s voice, which is hard to tell if she is really struggling or still has some energy left, echoes through the room.

"Come on! Just five more minutes, then we’ll take a break! Keep it up!"

"Aww, the instructor is a demon!"

In front of me, six pillars, each about two meters high, are arranged in a circle, spaced five meters apart from a central point. I randomly activate *Flash* on the pillars, emitting a slightly yellowish light that is not too bright. Carol dashes to the pillar where the light is emitted and touches it. Immediately after she touches it, I activate *Flash* on another pillar, and she dashes to touch that one. This process is repeated.

This way, Carol continuously accelerates, decelerates, and changes direction, which helps to train her agility.

I plan to convert Carol from a defensive type to a frontline attacker in the future. However, even after the conversion, agility will still be necessary.

Carol’s weapon is a dagger, which has a short reach. Therefore, she needs to get close to the enemy to attack, and even as a frontline attacker, she will still face attacks. To perform hit-and-run tactics and dodge enemy attacks, improving her agility is essential.

You might think, "Can’t we just boost her agility with *Agility Boost*?"

The base ability that is enhanced by support magic depends on the individual’s own ability. Therefore, if we improve her own agility, she will benefit even more when receiving support magic.

"Hah! Sei! Yaah!"

A little away from Carol, Log is practicing spear techniques with a wooden spear. After a discussion within the party, it was decided that Log would also join the frontline, and I would teach him spear techniques.

The reason for choosing a spear is that it is relatively easy to handle among weapons with reach.

To reduce the possibility of being overwhelmed by magic beasts due to the inability to renew buffs in time, it is better to be able to attack from a distance.

It has been about two weeks since I started teaching Log spear techniques. He is gradually improving. The fact that he can achieve this much in such a short time suggests that he might have a talent for spear techniques.

Judging from Log’s current movements, it might be time to move on to more practical training. However, I can only teach the basics of spear techniques.

For further training, I plan to ask Will for help. Since dual swords require proficiency in both sword and staff techniques, he is more skilled with spears than I am. I have already obtained his permission for this. While he can’t come every day, he seems to be able to visit once a week, which is very helpful.

"297... 290... 283... 276, ah, left hand—"

Sophie is sitting in a chair next to me, counting numbers out loud. Occasionally, she lightly taps her thighs with her left hand every third time and her right hand every fourth time.

The exercise I am having Sophie do is parallel construction practice. To master parallel construction, she needs to be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Therefore, I have her count down from 500 by sevens while tapping her left hand every third time and her right hand every fourth time.

Once she can do this effortlessly, it should be easier for her to grasp the knack of parallel construction.

She is still struggling, but I think she has a good aptitude. At this rate, she might master parallel construction faster than I expected.

◇

"Alright! Let’s take a break!"

"Yay, I’m so tired."

When I announce the break, Carol immediately lies down on the floor in a star shape. I think she should avoid lying down like that since she is a girl, but...

Log is panting and wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Sophie is slumped against the backrest, completely exhausted.

Everyone is quite tired.

"Master! How is my spear technique!?"

Log approaches me with puppy-like eyes. After nearly three weeks, I have gotten used to this.

"Not bad at all. We might be ready to move on from just practicing forms to more practical training."

"Really!? Great!"

Log makes a fist pump and looks delighted. It’s amazing how much a person can change if they want to. I don’t know much about what he was like before, but he is a completely different person from my first impression.

"You’re really amazing, Master!"

Log suddenly praises me without any context.

"What’s this all about?"

"Well, you were able to activate *Flash* on multiple pillars while keeping track of what Log and Sophie were doing. Even though parallel constructing dozens of spells is probably a piece of cake for you, it’s still something I can’t do, so I think it’s amazing."

Log always praises me. It’s nice to be admired, but I worry that he might be too blindly trusting. I hope he can maintain a good balance, but that’s not easy.

◇

I gave the three of them various training routines until the evening and decided to end the session once they were all done. After finishing today’s training, I headed to Grandpa’s shop.
