Chapter 58

Silence!

The entire Ye family meeting site was silent!

The only thing left was the heavy breathing.

Many members of the Ye family, Ye Tiancheng, and even the other elders on the platform, including the clan leader Ye Tianqi and the county magistrate Cen Shan, were all stunned.

It wasn't too surprising that Ye Zhen easily dealt with Ye Sheng and Ye Chao. Even if Ye Chao had toyed with Ye Hao earlier and later burst with the strength of a True Essence Realm, defeating Ye Hao in a spectacular manner, it was still within an acceptable range, at most causing great surprise.

However, the fact that Ye Zhen defeated the senior elder Ye Haiping with one punch and even injured him, was shocking to the point of being unacceptable.

It was simply unimaginable!

Senior elder Ye Haiping was the first in cultivation under the clan leader Ye Tianqi. For over a decade, he had relied on his formidable cultivation, and no one in the Ye clan dared to challenge him easily!

Now, he had been defeated by Ye Zhen with one punch.

It was hard not to be stunned!

After the extreme shock, the clan leader Ye Tianqi was overjoyed!

If Ye Zhen could easily defeat Ye Hao and knock down the senior elder, and considering that Ye Zhen was a year younger than Ye Hao, it could only mean one thing: Ye Zhen was an extraordinary genius, even more talented than Ye Hao!

As he landed on the ground, the senior elder's old face turned from blue to red, with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, making him feel utterly humiliated. He had been publicly defeated and injured by a junior, and there was even a hint of ambush.

His old face was slapped repeatedly!

Looking at his three grandsons, only Ye Chao was relatively unharmed. Ye Sheng's arm was twisted into a bizarre shape, and it was unknown if it would ever recover.

Ye Hao was also severely injured by Ye Zhen, but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the psychological damage Ye Hao suffered from being publicly humiliated and defeated by Ye Zhen.

Seeing Ye Hao, who was slumped on the ground with his head buried between his legs, the senior elder Ye Haiping realized that his talented grandson was ruined. If he couldn't overcome the psychological shadow cast by Ye Zhen, he would be ruined for life.

Thinking about his third son, Ye Zhi'an, who had been incapacitated, the senior elder Ye Haiping was consumed by rage and became furious.

"Someone, someone! Ye Zhen, this wicked child, has committed treason and harmed clan members. Drive him out, drive him out of the Ye clan! Throw out the ancestral tablets of his ancestors, all of them!"

The senior elder Ye Haiping had gone completely mad.

The other elders and the county magistrate all shook their heads in disapproval. It was too irrational, too lacking in magnanimity.

Given Ye Zhen's demonstrated genius, no family would expel such a talent, even if there were slight moral flaws.

"Are you all stunned? Can't you hear me?" The senior elder Ye Haiping, pointing at his confidants, shouted angrily: "Are you deaf? Hurry up, drive out Ye Zhen, drive him out!"

The clan leader Ye Tianqi's face darkened, and just as he was about to speak, a cold voice rang out from outside the ancestral hall.

"Wow, the Ye clan is so powerful, wanting to expel the brave hero that this governor wants to commend! Hey, the first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect, you can also expel from the clan? Your Ye clan is really something!"

"Governor?" County Magistrate Cen Shan suddenly stood up and hurriedly went to greet him. The clan leader Ye Tianqi was taken aback and led the other elders to welcome him.

The arrival of the governor was a significant event, but Ye Tianqi, who had taken a few steps, was stunned.

"Ye Zhen is the first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect?"

Looking at the large group of clan members kneeling to welcome him, the senior elder Ye Haiping, who had been shouting, was stunned: "First place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect? Ye Zhen is the first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect?"

"Ye Zhen, are you the first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect... is this true?" The clan leader Ye Tianqi asked with great difficulty. This news was even more shocking than seeing Ye Zhen defeat the senior elder.

The Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect was famous throughout the world, and with the Ye clan having disciples in the Qi Yun Sect for years, how could they not know the value and status of the first place on the Earth Rank?

"Uh... yes!" Ye Zhen nodded.

Ye Tiancheng was already numb from shock.

He thought his son had already given him enough surprises, but each time, he discovered that the surprises were just the tip of the iceberg.

All the Ye clan members were stunned again!

First place on the Earth Rank!

The legendary first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect had actually appeared in their Ye family!

Oh my, if Ye Zhen was the first place on the Earth Rank, then the previous incident with the second place on the Earth Rank was nothing!

"Ye Sheng, Ye Chao, how dare you spread rumors?" The clan leader Ye Tianqi, who had come to his senses, roared at the two brothers.

"You bastards, what have you been hiding? Ye Zhen is the first place on the Earth Rank, why didn't you tell me?" Even the senior elder Ye Haiping, who had been deeply hurt, was furious and slapped them without giving them a chance to defend themselves.

This, however, was a misunderstanding of the two brothers, as when they returned, Ye Zhen was not yet the first place on the Earth Rank.

"Foolish!"

After cursing, Ye Tianqi stepped over the kneeling clan members to welcome the governor, and Ye Zhen also went forward without kneeling.

In both the True Profound Continent and the Blackwater Kingdom, martial artists had special privileges, and those at the True Essence Realm did not need to bow to officials.

"Governor, you misunderstood, misunderstood. How could we expel such a brave hero as Ye Zhen? We would be eager to cultivate him." The clan leader Ye Tianqi hurriedly said.

"Then were the words just now a misunderstanding by the governor?" The cold and stern voice of the military commander of Wuan County, Guan Ping, echoed, "Ye Zhen is my brother in life and death. I never expected him to be treated like this in your Ye clan."

Hearing this, sweat beads rolled down the clan leader Ye Tianqi's forehead. The two major figures of Wuan County were both supporting Ye Zhen.

Especially the military commander Guan Ping, who publicly declared his life-and-death bond with Ye Zhen, made Ye Tianqi feel dizzy.

Whether Ye Zhen was the first place on the Earth Rank or had the support of the two major figures of the county, either one would be enough to make the senior elder Ye Haiping dare not touch Ye Zhen.

Now, both were revealed at once!

On the martial arts platform, the senior elder Ye Haiping was completely stunned!

He originally thought Ye Zhen was a grasshopper that could be crushed with one foot. Later, he found out that this grasshopper was fierce and strong. Even later, he discovered that Ye Zhen was so strong that he could injure him.

But now, the senior elder Ye Haiping realized he was wrong. Ye Zhen was not a grasshopper that could be crushed with one foot; he was the one who could be crushed!

"It was one of our elders who was talking nonsense, due to some stimulation." Ye Tianqi barely found an excuse.

"Can someone who talks nonsense and doesn't distinguish right from wrong still be an elder?" The governor's one sentence decided the fate of the senior elder Ye Haiping.

Hearing this, the senior elder Ye Haiping's body went limp, almost falling over.

Originally, even if he had been a bit foolish, the clan leader Ye Tianqi wouldn't have dared to do anything to him, at most reducing his power in the clan. But with the governor's words, he was finished.

Because he had offended the governor, he had truly become a clan member who harmed the interests of the Ye clan!

"Ye Zhen, for your contribution in helping Commander Guan fight the bandits, this governor specially grants you the title of Brave Hero! With this title, all taxes and corvée labor for your family's land can be exempted!"

The governor emphasized, "This is limited to your family, not the entire Ye clan. Do you understand?" The last sentence was directed at the county magistrate.

Many Ye clan members were extremely depressed, and some even hated the senior elder.

If not for his actions, the title of Brave Hero would have brought much glory to the Ye clan.

But now, it was all gone.

Next, the governor publicly awarded Ye Zhen 5,000 taels of silver as a bounty for killing the bandits. This 5,000 taels of silver, which Ye Zhen earned easily, made almost all the Ye clan members envious.

5,000 taels of silver, which many people couldn't earn in over a decade, Ye Zhen had earned effortlessly.

Taking the opportunity, Ye Zhen briefly conversed with Commander Guan Ping and learned that the governor had heard that Ye Zhen had personally killed Guo Shanfeng and was the first place on the Earth Rank of the Qi Yun Sect, so he personally came to the Ye clan to award Ye Zhen.

With the governor's presence, the clan meeting of the Ye clan proceeded more grandly, and the martial arts competition was held again.

However, after Ye Zhen's previous battle, there was no longer any suspense in the competition. The young men who had previously been不服 (unconvinced) of Ye Zhen were now deeply impressed.

In no time, Ye Zhen replaced Ye Hao and became the new idol of the young men in the clan.

Without any suspense, Ye Zhen won the martial arts competition. The bottle of True Essence Pill that the senior elder Ye Haiping had prepared for his grandson Ye Hao, which he had gone to great lengths to obtain, fell into Ye Zhen's pocket, adding a boost to his cultivation. At the True Essence Realm, no one would complain about having too many True Essence Pills.

With the governor and Commander Guan Ping present, the clan meeting of the Ye clan proceeded smoothly, and the status of Ye Zhen and his father Ye Tiancheng in the clan changed dramatically.

After the clan meeting, the clan leader directly opened the ancestral hall and announced the following two important matters of the Ye clan.

"Senior elder Ye Haiping is incompetent and will no longer serve as an elder. All his powers in the clan will be revoked."

"The position of senior elder Ye Haiping will be taken by Ye Zhen's father, Ye Tiancheng!"
