Husband’s Interrogation (1)

Chapter Courtesy: Wang Mei

With Fang Yichang’s departure, peace returned to the archery club.

Tian Yu ordered the club members who’d been watching the commotion to continue training before turning to talk to Huo Cheng. “Go get changed first, I’ve prepared some training clothes for you already.”

Huo Cheng followed him to the locker room while Shen Wanying went to the girl’s locker room to get changed.

The archery club’s uniform was designed by the first president of the club. Because she liked personally liked Hanfu, she added the collar and waist sash with Hanfu elements to the outfit. In order to make movement convenient, the sleeves were designed according to the standard archery uniform sleeves with loose, wide-legged pants; red for the girls and dark blue for the boys.

After changing, Huo Cheng followed Tian Yu to meet the club’s coach. Although it was a club activity, archery was still quite a dangerous sport, so the coach had to be present at all times. By the time they’d finished, Shen Wanying had already changed her clothes and begun practicing on the training grounds. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail, the strands swaying softly as a light breeze blew by. She held a traditional bow in her hands, poised properly to aim down towards a target.

Many club members stopped in their tracks to watch her, especially the boys. They even took out their cellphones to secretly take a picture of her.

Huo Cheng frowned at the sight. “The training ground for men and women isn’t separated?”

Tian Yu was quite shocked. “Is it necessary to separate men and women in archery?”

Huo Cheng: “Isn’t the competition divided by men and women?”

Tian Yu: “——”

His logic was flawless.

Huo Cheng contemplated for a while before saying, “If you separate the training grounds for men and women, I promise I’ll participate in the competition.”

“…..!” Tian Yu caught himself in a pinch.

It wasn’t impossible to separate the men’s and women’s training grounds, after all, archery was originally a solo sport. As long as they added a partition in the middle of the field, it was easy to separate the two groups. The issue was… archery wasn’t really a popular sport. They could only recruit as many new members as they had thanks to Shen Wanying’s presence.

If men and women were to train separately, then those boys would have no reason to stay in the archery club, which could directly lead to the decrease in new recruits next year!

He didn’t answer for a long while. Seeing his reluctance, Huo Cheng didn’t make things difficult for him. “If it won’t work, forget it.”

“Hey, I didn’t say no!” Tian Yu hastily responded. He was clear about the situation. Tian Yu would be in his third year of high school next year and would no longer be able to participate in club activities. What did it have to do with him if they couldn’t recruit people next year? This was something the new president should worry about!

What a clever little ghost! He thought, feeling somewhat annoyed at Huo Cheng.

“Let’s just go with what you said!” Tian Yu dogmatically agreed to the other boy’s request. “But it’s too late to do it today. We can train separately starting next week. But you have to sign up for the competition like you promised.”

“Ok.” Huo Cheng responded before making his way over to Shen Wanying.

The arrow that she had just shot had hit the bullseye. “Good shot,” he praised.

Shen Wanying felt a little embarrassed. “You don’t have to praise me.”

Huo Cheng: “It isn’t easy to shoot accurately with the traditional bow.”

“You’re right.” Shen Wanying nodded in agreement. “But still… I like the traditional bow the most. Even though it doesn’t have many accessories and it doesn’t shoot the most accurately, every time I pick it up, I feel like I’m a hero. With more accessories to assist the aiming, I don’t feel that way anymore.”

Tian Yu laughed and joked. “I didn’t expect our lady to have such heroic feelings.”

Huo Cheng turned his head to look at him. Tian Yu immediately quivered and quickly withdrew, turning his attention to other club members. “You guys over there, what are you secretly being lazy for? All of you go train!”

Shen Wanying put down her bow and looked at Huo Cheng. “You should go train too.”

“All right.”

The club had limited training equipment available, so they usually trained in groups of three to four. However, Tian Yu had made a special exception to let Huo Cheng train alone since he was already highly skilled.

Even if he hadn’t approved it, Huo Cheng had that ‘strangers don’t come near’ face that made it almost impossible for him to train with others. Tian Yu couldn’t help being sullen.

Shen Wanying had been in the archery club for two years, and her results weren’t bad. She would occasionally help Tian Yu and the coach guide the new members.

“Hello, your bow posture in this position is kind of wrong.” Shen Wanying helped to adjust the stance of the girl next to her. “Wearing arm guards can protect you, but you are hurt now because your posture is incorrect. Please remember this next time.”

The schoolgirl: “But, it really hurts…hiccup.“

“It doesn’t matter, you should wear it. You should also pay more attention when you are adjusting your posture.”

The club activities only ran for about the length of two periods. Normally, a math and chemistry two-period class felt like an eternity, but when it came to club activities, this same amount of time was over in a flash.

Shen Wanying changed her clothes after club activities had ended for the day and walked out of the training ground with her school bag. Seeing the person standing outside, she walked up and asked, “Huo Cheng, why are you still here, haven’t gone back yet?”

Huo Cheng turned around to look at her and replied, “I figured you would come out soon, so I was waiting for you.”
