After spitting out a mouthful of blood, Yang QiQi’s chest became much more relaxed and her breathing became smoother. Enduring the huge pain in the back of the chest, Yang QiQi turned over and let out a huge sigh of relief. By doing so, she had exhausted all her strength and couldn’t move anymore.
A hot stream gushed from the back of her head, winding down her face until it reached her lips. She stretched out her tongue and licked it. She immediately recognized what it was from the metallic and somewhat salty taste. She guessed that her wound was still bleeding.
The ground under her head was soon soaked with blood and her nasal cavity was full of dirt and blood.
Except for the form-fitting military green vest, the other clothes on her body had altogether disappeared. Her legs from below the knees were soaking in water while the chilling wind made her numb from cold.
She was able to survive after the destruction of the boat. She was indeed a tenacious person.
The corners of the lips twitched lightly, wondering whether her two ‘friends’ were alive like her.
The situation was not in her favor now. Yang QiQi put away all the distracting thoughts and controlled her breathing as per her family’s inherited technique. No one knew how long it took but she finally succeeded to gather some strength. Yang QiQi tried and sat up after a while.
A lush green forest spread out in front of her. Most of the trees were sturdy and tall even though they seemed quite old at the first glance. The towering canopy was like a huge umbrella spread under the blue sky. The vegetation under the trees was extremely luxurious. Yang QiQi firmly believed that only her head would be visible if she was to enter it.
Turning her head, Yang QiQi looked at the clear water. She wondered in her heart: The ship obviously sank into the deep sea, how could she just faint by the lake in a forest?
The blood on her head had gradually dried and turned into sticky lumps which made her feel uncomfortable.
Yang QiQi bent down to scoop up some water in her palm which reflected her face at this time: a small melon-seed-sized face with a pointed chin, jade-like exquisite lips, delicate and straight nose, a pair of beautiful eyes that appeared charming and affectionate but the eyebrows were solitary and cold.
That little bit of water only lasted for a little while before it leaked out from between her fingers.
Her heart couldn’t stop thumping. She took a deep breath and looked down at the lake.
After staring for a while, she was finally sure that she went back to being how she was when she was about ten years old.
‘No wonder I always felt something was a little off since I woke up. It was actually because I turned into a child.’
She didn’t understand how she ‘shrank’. Yang QiQi knew the DongFang Yu had transported from the 21st century before, so she could at least accept the reality after a while. But the important point was to figure out whether she has returned to the time when she was ten years old or had been transported to another era like DongFang Yu or even transported to a strange place that is not Earth.
She washed her face and sorted out the tattered clothes. During this process, a few unknown fish in the lake swam over and played in front of her foolishly. Yang QiQi felt her belly rumbling from hunger. She broke a nearby branch, stabbed a few fish with it, and raised it. The remaining fish scattered and fled.
She found an ant nest under a tree, tore a bit of a fish with internal organs, and put it on the side. Watching the ants happily move it into their nest, she finally came to the lake with a sharp stone to open the fish’s abdomen to take out the remaining internal organs and scraped off the scales. After cleaning it, she bit the raw fish in her hand calmly.
The soldiers of the “Future Battalion” camp fought on the battlefield all year round. Whether it was dry food or drinking water, accidents always happened from time to time. It was common to get stuck somewhere for a while. After the stored food was consumed, they had to hunt wild animals or gather some non-toxic plants to satisfy their hunger. Taste was a luxury in such an environment. They were always more concerned about the amount of energy the food in their mouths could provide and whether it could support them till the completion of the next battle or not.
