Chapter 4

"Apparently, the judges for this preliminary battle test... are all seniors from our previous year..."

In high school, seats are generally arranged by height, unless there are other factors like vision, in which case the seating arrangement would be adjusted.

When the group gathered, Sheng Bufang stood in front of Yang Kai Bai, wiping the sweat from his forehead with a handkerchief and whispering to Yang Kai Bai.

"Drafted for labor?"

Yang Kai Bai smiled and said.

Sheng Bufang nodded vigorously, agreeing wholeheartedly.

Jiangcheng No. 1 Spirit High School, being the best high school in the entire city, invited most of the outstanding students from the previous year who had been admitted to Jiangcheng University to serve as judges for the national unified spirit battle preliminary test.

Jiangcheng University is one of the top five spirit universities in the entire Huaxia region, boasting strong teaching and resource capabilities, and is the dream university for the vast majority of high school students in Jiangcheng City.

The students from the first year of Jiangcheng University who returned to their alma mater to serve as judges for the preliminary battle test were naturally those from the first year.

If Yang Kai Bai and Sheng Bufang were to be admitted to Jiangcheng University in the future, they might be drafted for labor for the national unified spirit battle preliminary test next year.

Of course, that's just if.

"Students, please take your student IDs, go through the registration, get your battle numbers, and proceed to the corresponding battle zones to wait!"

Homeroom teacher Song Yun Chun was maintaining order in the line for Class 3-2.

"Jiang Ke, Yang Kai Xin, Chen Jing... do your best, don't be nervous!"

Although this was just a preliminary battle test, it also meant that the college entrance exam was entering the final 100-day countdown. As the homeroom teacher, Teacher Song Yun Chun couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.

As the students at the front of the line went one by one to the student ID registration area, Teacher Song also came to Sheng Bufang and Yang Kai Bai.

Actually, Yang Kai Bai and Sheng Bufang's academic performance was average in the class, but the spirit battle preliminary test wasn't about rigid academic performance; it was about flexible battle skills and the newly established rapport between the trainer and their beginner spirit.

Yang Kai Bai's Psyduck...

Sheng Bufang's Drowzee...

Why would these two choose such beginner spirits?

Isn't this making things harder for themselves?

It's not that raising a Psyduck or a Drowzee is bad, but at the initial stage of becoming a trainer, shouldn't they raise some... easier spirits?

Don't underestimate the weak Caterpie; insect-type spirits evolve quickly!

With 100 days left...

Even if they caught a Caterpie now, it could evolve into a Butterfree by the day of the national unified spirit college entrance exam.

Psyduck...

Drowzee...

Their reactions are at least a notch slower than other normal spirits!

Homeroom teacher Song Yun Chun, thinking about Psyduck and Drowzee, felt like she was about to become as dazed as them.

No, can't think about those two spirits anymore.

If she kept thinking about them, she'd become dazed herself.

"Sheng Bufang... Yang Kai Bai, you two also need to do your best. The preliminary test is just a small test; there's still a lot of room for improvement in the next 100 days!"

Teacher Song encouraged them with high emotional intelligence.

"Teacher Song, we will do our best!" Sheng Bufang was greatly encouraged.

Teacher Song is right!

This is just a spirit battle preliminary test; there's still a long time to improve as a trainer!

"Um, thank you, Teacher Song!" Yang Kai Bai sighed inwardly.

Seeing Sheng Bufang's excited face, he clearly didn't understand the hidden meaning in Teacher Song's words.

But...

Sheng Bufang's spirit is a Drowzee?

No wonder he can be my desk partner; that spirit's dazedness can match my Psyduck!

...

"Yang... Kai... Bai? Are you really Yang Kai Bai?"

"Senior, the photo on the student ID is a bit ugly, making it hard to recognize!" Yang Kai Bai deliberately tilted his head and hair, trying to match the hairstyle on the student ID.

"No, no, no..."

There was a small incident during the registration.

When taking the student ID photo in the first year, Yang Kai Bai had a fake smile, but now, in the third year... he had grown into a sunny young man!

Thanks to the excellent genes from his celebrity trainer parents, he looked handsome, just like the protagonists in many novels.

In short, Yang Kai Bai was much more handsome in person than in the student ID photo.

"So you're Yang Kai Bai!" The senior who was registering him smiled happily, "I and your sister Yang Kai Xin were both members of the Little Spirit Art Club. I didn't expect the sister to be so beautiful and the brother to be so handsome!"

"Cough, cough, thank you, Senior, I'll go queue up in Zone D!" Yang Kai Bai's mood instantly soured when he heard the senior praising Yang Kai Xin.

His sister?

Is she prettier than him?

Hmph!

"Boiling Water, why did you take so long to come?"

Sheng Bufang was a bit confused.

They arrived at the registration area at the same time, just at different entrances, so why did Yang Kai Bai come in so late?

"No choice, being too handsome, a senior stopped me to ask for my QQ number!"

"Get lost!" Sheng Bufang lightly nudged Yang Kai Bai's shoulder, "By the way, Boiling Water, which zone are you in? Zone D?"

"Same as you, we can rely on each other!" Yang Kai Bai said casually.

"Good brother!"

Sheng Bufang patted Yang Kai Bai's shoulder.

...

Jiangcheng No. 1 Spirit High School divided the national unified spirit battle preliminary test into five battle zones.

Zone A was at the school gate square, with an open space, grass, and some ornamental trees.

Zone B was at the school's large playground, with a small soccer field and a long jump sand pit.

Zone C was in the forest area behind the school, with some fruit trees. When the fruits were ripe, the school cafeteria would use them to make various foods.

Zone D was the school's swimming pool, where water-type spirits could swim and play.

Zone E was the most complete indoor battle arena in the entire spirit high school, usually used as a badminton court and other indoor sports venues, but during important battles or large events, it would be used as a dedicated spirit battle arena.

Yang Kai Bai and Sheng Bufang were in Zone D, the swimming pool suitable for water-type spirits.

In the national unified spirit battle preliminary test, since most students were new trainers, the venue arrangements would prioritize the attributes of beginner spirits.

Yang Kai Bai's Psyduck, Sheng Bufang's Drowzee...

This preliminary test was quite considerate of both the trainers and their spirits, and very humane.

"The two of you can summon your spirits first. The rules allow for a warm-up to adapt to the environment!"

The senior judge Qiu Tong said in the waiting room.

...

However, when both Psyduck and Drowzee appeared in the waiting room...

Qiu Tong knew that this preliminary test... was definitely not simple!

In a small waiting room, both a Psyduck and a Drowzee appeared?

Drowzee looked at the Psyduck lying on the ground, hugging its head and snoring...

"Ya... dong!"

It also lay down.

It even rolled over.

Cuddle~ Cuddle~

Sleep together, sleep together!

Yang Kai Bai: ...

Sheng Bufang: ...

It's over! It's over!
