Hu Hao had no choice but to go hunting more. Now he didn't even have food for himself, and all the game he hunted was sent to the hospital. Every day, he had to hunt quite a few wild chickens, pheasants, and wild rabbits, and occasionally even a wild boar. After nearly a month, Commander Zhang was finally discharged from the hospital, and Hu Hao was so excited that he was on the verge of tears.

"Brother, you're finally out of the hospital. If you don't get out soon, the animals in the mountains will start hunting me," Hu Hao said.

"Hunting for you to get some game. There are still many comrades in the hospital. You need to bring some over every day," Commander Zhang said while packing his things.

"No, I won't go. I've been hunting for you every day, and I haven't had anything to eat myself," Hu Hao said.

"You must go. Otherwise, I'll make you a platoon leader and have you train the new recruits. Our regiment has recruited many new soldiers, and who has the time to go up the mountain? If you don't go, who will?" Commander Zhang stood up and said.

"No, no way. You're out of the hospital now," Hu Hao said.

"Oh, then I'll just continue lying here. Go on," Commander Zhang sat back on the bed and said.

"Lying here or not, I won't go. You're better now, you don't need to supplement your nutrition anymore," Hu Hao said, not falling for it.

"You, you little rascal, who isn't busy now? I asked you to go hunting, and you won't even do that. What do you want to do? You don't want to be a platoon leader, and you don't want to lead the soldiers. What's the point of keeping you around? What's the point of being a soldier?" Commander Zhang stood up and scolded.

"To fight the Japanese, brother. You said that if I join the army, I don't have to train new recruits. Only the officers train the new recruits," Hu Hao said.

"You..." Commander Zhang pointed at Hu Hao, not knowing what to say.

"One word, will you go or not?" Commander Zhang said.

"No!" Hu Hao answered firmly.

"Fine, starting today, you won't have any white flour. We have tens of thousands of pounds of sweet potatoes in our regiment. You can eat those," Commander Zhang said.

"Why? Others get white flour when they join the army, but I get sweet potatoes," Hu Hao shouted.

"Others have tasks. They either stand guard or keep watch. When have you ever done any of that?" Commander Zhang said.

"Then I can keep watch too!" Hu Hao said.

"Keep watch? If the Japanese enter my room, I probably wouldn't even know!" Commander Zhang said.

"Then I won't go. I'll just go to the city to eat!" Hu Hao said.

"You dare? If you dare go to the city, I'll break your legs," Commander Zhang said.

"Brother, you're being unreasonable," Hu Hao said.

"Fine, I'll be reasonable. Twenty pounds of meat every day, you can do whatever you want, as long as you don't go to the city," Commander Zhang said.

"Can I accumulate it?" Hu Hao said, now realizing he had no choice but to go.

"Sure."

After accompanying Commander Zhang back to the camp, Hu Hao first returned to his own quarters. As soon as he entered, the room was filled with heat.

"Er Lengzi, why is our room so hot?" Commander Zhang said.

"Brother, I made a kang. Hehe, we won't be cold at night," Hu Hao said.

"Good, now go up the mountain. I need to go to the regiment headquarters to see how the training is going," Commander Zhang threw his things on the kang and went out.

Hu Hao's hunting career wasn't over, but he wasn't worried. The wild boars in the mountains were coming down to find food, and catching one could cover several days of his task.

In the evening, after eating, Hu Hao went to the mountains. On his way, he passed the new recruits' training ground. He looked around, but it wasn't interesting, so he continued on.

"Class leader, who is he? Why can he wander around freely?" a new recruit asked the class leader during a break.

"Who is he? He's an expert at killing the Japanese. At least 8,000 Japanese have died at his hands," the class leader said.

"Really impressive!"

Hu Hao didn't care and continued into the mountains. As soon as he reached the mountain pass,

"Hmm? The wild boars are coming down the mountain, and there are so many," Hu Hao said, seeing the wild boar tracks in the snow.

So Hu Hao followed the tracks. After about two or three miles, he finally found the group of wild boars.

"My goodness, so many?" Hu Hao saw nearly 20 wild boars of various sizes, the largest probably weighing over 300 pounds, and the smallest over 100 pounds.

Hu Hao didn't hesitate. He took out his gun, loaded it, and aimed at the largest one.

"Bang!" Hu Hao fired, and the wild boar fell. The other wild boars didn't know what was happening, so Hu Hao aimed at another one and fired. The wild boars then started to scatter.

"Where did the shots come from? What's happening? Where are the shots coming from?" The commander, who was dealing with a pile of documents, immediately stood up and ran to the yard. "Commander, what's happening? Where are the shots coming from?" the political commissar also came out from another room.

"Bang, bang!" Another round of shots rang out.

"Guard company, assemble, quickly!" Commander Zhang shouted. The guards quickly grabbed their weapons and came out. Commander Zhang didn't waste time and said to the former squad leader, now company leader Li, "Take the guard company and check that direction. See what's happening. Are the Japanese coming?"

After the guard company left, Commander Zhang still looked in that direction.

"That's strange. There's no road there. It's all mountains behind. The Japanese would have to come from the sky," Commander Zhang said.

Thinking about this, he hurriedly ran back to his quarters, with the political commissar following.

Commander Zhang entered the room and didn't see Hu Hao, but Hu Hao's sniper rifle was still there, and the Type 38 rifle was gone.

"What's going on, Commander?" the political commissar asked as he entered.

"It must be Er Lengzi. That rascal. I asked him to go hunting, and he must have fired the shots. But that's strange. Er Lengzi wouldn't fire so many shots. His aim is very accurate. Could it really be the Japanese?" Commander Zhang said.

"Right, the soldiers have all been issued guns, and the bullets are loaded," the political commissar said.

Meanwhile, Hu Hao was still hunting the wild boars. He had already killed 13, and there were 3 left. The others had scattered and were hard to find.

"Bang!" One fell. "Bang!" Another one. The last shot, and the remaining wild boar fell.

Hu Hao stood up, looked at the wild boars, and scratched his head. The wild boars were large, but how could he get them back? They weighed thousands of pounds.

Hu Hao saw a group of people coming from a distance. He looked closely and saw it was the guard company. Hu Hao shouted, "Hey, over here, over here!"

Company Leader Li looked closely and saw it was Er Lengzi. He immediately led the soldiers over. On the way, he saw many wild boars lying on the ground. He knew what had happened. Er Lengzi must have been hunting wild boars.

"Er Lengzi, did you fire the shots?" Company Leader Li asked.

"Ah, didn't you see all the dead wild boars? I won't talk more. You take the wild boars back, and I'll go back first," Hu Hao said.

"No, Er Lengzi, you should hide. If you go back, Commander Zhang will skin you alive," Company Leader Li said.

"Skin me alive? Why?" Hu Hao turned around and asked.

"Why? You fired shots near the camp. Now all the soldiers have been issued guns, and the bullets are loaded. They thought the Japanese were coming. What do you think?" Company Leader Li said.

"Ah!"
