The flames roared, catching the young man off guard.
However, all the people of the Fire Crow tribe were born with a unique affinity for fire. The young man cursed repeatedly, slapping his body wildly, and wherever his hands passed, the flames dissipated, leaving only wisps of black smoke swirling around him.
Ji Hao looked at the young man’s bald head with a smug expression and shouted, "Ha, a good-for-nothing who can’t even withstand a single flame, what right do you have to talk nonsense here? Who gave you the nerve to make such a fuss?"
Ji Xia glanced at Ji Hao with satisfaction, crossed his arms, and remained silent.
Sitting by the fire pit, several of the most aged and withered elders nodded approvingly and cackled.
Among the group of large men sitting opposite Ji Xia, a man who was almost as tall as Ji Xia stood up. He had a well-proportioned figure, lacking the bulging muscles of the other men; his skin was fair and tender, unlike that of a tribesman who lived in the southern wilderness; his long hair was tied into a large braid with three jade rings on his back, and his narrow eyes sparkled with a sharp light.
"Wu, don’t disgrace our family," the man’s voice was soft and gentle, but it carried a chilling undertone.
The young man, whose hair and eyebrows had been burned off, roared and took a large step, covering a dozen feet in a single stride. He swung a punch at Ji Hao’s face. As he exhaled and punched, he roared, "You coward who only dares to attack from behind, I am Ji Wu, the son of the mighty Ji Shu!"
A gust of wind rushed towards Ji Hao, and the flames from Ji Wu’s punch blew back Ji Hao’s long hair, each strand stretching straight and causing his scalp to ache.
What a powerful punch! Ji Hao immediately judged that Ji Wu’s punch was at least three times stronger than his own maximum strength. It was impossible to block Ji Wu’s punch with just physical strength.
Forming hand seals, Ji Hao’s body flickered and exploded into seven or eight afterimages that scattered in all directions with a rustling sound. Ji Wu’s punch created a thunderous boom in the air but failed to touch even a shadow of Ji Hao.
Muttering a true word, the flames in the bonfire flickered, and dozens of arm-thick fire snakes hissed and flew out, shooting towards Ji Wu’s body as Ji Hao willed it.
Ji Xia exhaled softly and smiled, watching the dancing fire snakes. "Elders, it seems that Hao has made some progress in the shamanic arts over the years."
The several extremely aged elders cackled and nodded proudly. An elder with green flames in his eyes said sternly, "Hao is a good seed, with an extremely high talent for shamanic arts. Perhaps, he will become the first shaman king of our Fire Crow tribe in ten thousand years."
Ji Xia and the warriors around him laughed, while Ji Shu, Ji Hun, and the others on the opposite side frowned.
The fair-skinned and tender-skinned Ji Shu shouted angrily, "Wu! Ji Hao is a legendary genius, you must be careful!"
As he scolded, Ji Shu frowned and glanced不满地 at the elders sitting at the top. These elders were the most revered shamans of the Fire Crow tribe, and their favoritism towards Ji Hao was obvious to everyone.
Ji Wu growled deeply. A shield-shaped tattoo on his left arm flickered, and a three-foot-diameter metal shield sprang out from the flames, protecting most of his body. The bronze-colored metal shield was intricately crafted, with a beautiful pattern embedded on its surface—a tall tower reaching into the clouds, and at the top of the tower, a blood-red eye floated.
"This shield, it looks so familiar!" Ji Hao’s heart suddenly trembled as he looked at the intricate pattern on the shield.
Subconsciously forming hand seals, he increased the power controlling the fire snakes from three-tenths to full strength.
The dozens of fire snakes suddenly swelled, merging and devouring each other. In the blink of an eye, three fire dragons, each over a dozen feet long, formed and crashed into the shield with a roaring sound.
A continuous humming sound echoed, and a faint green light flashed on the shield. Twelve fist-sized twisted runes appeared at the edge of the shield, and a three-foot-wide green cold beam shot out over a dozen feet from the shield’s surface. The three fire dragons and the green cold beam collided and rubbed against each other, producing a dull explosion. Ji Wu, holding the shield, trembled slightly but did not retreat.
"Ha, so you’re Ji Hao? The legendary Ji Hao who could speak at birth, crawl around the next day, and control fire magic at a month old?" Ji Wu, holding the shield to resist the fire dragons, roared, "But your strength, how weak is it? Too weak, Ji Hao, you can’t even hurt a single hair on my body!"
Ji Hao cackled and abandoned control of the rapidly shrinking fire dragons. He smiled at Ji Wu, "Hurt your hair? Do you even have any hair left for me to hurt? Hey, how does it feel to be bald?"
Ji Wu’s eyes turned red with anger. A faint fire aura suddenly surged from his head.
Amidst loud laughter, Ji Hao reached out and grabbed a spear from a wooden rack on the wall. The spear, with a handle made of green mulberry wood and a tip made of flint, whistled and flew into Ji Hao’s hand.
With a loud shout, he gripped the spear, which was taller than himself, and spun it a few times. A scorching force flowed from his palms into the spear, and a series of ancient red runes on the green spear lit up. Flames several feet long spewed from the three-foot-long flint tip.
Shaking the spear, Ji Hao swung it down at Ji Wu’s shield. The flames surged like waves, and the spear’s shadow moved like a dragon. In an instant, Ji Hao struck the shield over a hundred times. The spear and shield collided violently, and the green cold beam and red flames rubbed against each other, producing a deafening sound.
After a hundred fierce attacks, Ji Hao caught his breath. Ji Wu took the opportunity to push the shield forward, and the three fire dragons completely collapsed. A powerful force surged from the shield, and Ji Hao felt a massive shock in his hands. The force traveled up his arms, and his physical strength was unable to resist!
The spear was knocked away by the force, and Ji Hao staggered backward.
Without a word, Ji Wu swung his right arm. A large black metal axe appeared from a tattoo on his forearm, and he swung it mercilessly at Ji Hao’s head.
Ji Hao, seeing the murderous intent in Ji Wu’s eyes, felt a tangible killing intent. Was this guy really trying to kill him?
His fingers trembled, and he formed a series of hand seals. Ji Hao’s body vanished into thin air. A whirlwind whirled from behind Ji Wu, and Ji Hao emerged from it, catching the falling spear and sweeping it horizontally at Ji Wu’s back with all his might.
With a crisp sound, the spear sent Ji Wu flying dozens of feet, crashing into the wall of the wooden house. The impact caused several weapons on the wall to fall and strike his head.
Ji Hao had used all his strength, and the purple dan in his third eye pulsed violently, releasing all his magical power in an instant.
The scorching heat penetrated Ji Wu’s strong muscles and tendons, invading his internal organs and shaking them violently. Ji Wu felt a burning sensation in his chest, as if a bomb had exploded inside him. He couldn’t help but spit out a mouthful of blood, which quickly turned into a flame and burned on the ground.
Like a bear kicked in the buttocks, Ji Wu, with blood at the corner of his mouth, roared and stood up, ready to continue the fight with his axe.
"Enough!" Ji Xia stood up and shouted, "Enough! This is the place for tribal deliberation, not for you young pups to fight."
Ji Shu snorted and said softly, "Brother Ji Xia, why not let the young ones decide the winner? We two are competing for the position of tribal warrior leader, and our children can provide some entertainment for the tribe to watch!"
Ji Xia took a deep breath and said solemnly, "Let’s follow the rules left by our ancestors. In half a month, at the ancestral worship ceremony, we will decide everything with our fists."
Ji Wu, blushing with shame, reluctantly threw his shield and axe to the ground and pointed at Ji Hao, shouting, "Ji Hao, like a true man, face me in a duel at the ancestral worship ceremony. Do you dare? If you lose, you’ll spend the rest of your life with your balls tucked in!"
Ji Hao snorted and raised his right hand, slowly drawing it across his neck, accepting Ji Wu’s challenge.
