Chapter 4

Five days after my birthday—three days after I reincarnated as Hart—I found myself at the training facility attached to the manor.

In the Silveray family, children start training in magic and swordsmanship at the age of five.

Today was my first day of training, but in the training facility, only Tina and I were present. When my older brothers were being trained, they had famous mages and knights from outside come to instruct them.

I have two older brothers and one older sister. There is a significant age gap between the three of us; my eldest brother is already serving the kingdom as a knight. My sister attends a magic school, and my second brother is at a knight training academy.

All of my siblings are exceptionally talented, and the Silveray family is rumored to have a bright future. My parents have told me, as the third son, that I can live as I please.

Because of this, I don't have a teacher for magic or swordsmanship.

Well, I do have one, but...

"Master Hart, let's start with magic training."

Tina, dressed in something more suitable for movement rather than her usual maid uniform, stood before me. She was to be in charge of both my magic and swordsmanship training.

I wasn't unhappy about it, but the thought of this young-looking maid fighting with magic or a sword was hard to imagine, and I felt a bit uneasy.

Besides, since I can't level up, training wouldn't make much of a difference.

I can't use my knowledge to make money either, but as the third son of a viscount, I don't think I'll ever be short of money.

I started to think that if I just went through the motions of training and studies, and took on the job my parents would prepare for me in the future, I could live without causing trouble for my family and siblings.

However, this is still a different world.

A world of swords and magic.

Even at level 1, I had some magic power.

In other words, I could use magic.

I was excited about my first spell.

"Please take care of me!"

"Yes, please take care of me."

"I have a question for you, Miss Tina!"

"Q, Miss? Y, yes, what is it?"

I jokingly called Tina "Miss," and she seemed a bit flustered. Since she didn't seem to mind, I decided to call her "Miss" during training from now on.

"Miss, how skilled are you with magic and swords?"

I was naturally curious about the strength of the person who would be teaching me such things.

"Master Hart, I haven't shown you my status board yet. Here, please take a look."

With that, Tina showed me her status board.

Status

Name: Tina Haribelle

Race: Half-Elf

Blessing: Descendant of a Hero

Occupation: Magic Swordsman (Level 250)

Skill: Maid (Master)

Condition: Healthy

"–What? L, Level 250!?"

The strongest maid, standing proudly before me, was a bit embarrassed.

By the way, the status board can be adjusted to show only what the person wants to show. Tina seemed to want to show only her level, as she didn't show me her magic power or attack power.

I could probably ask, but I decided not to, as it would only shock me to see the difference in strength.

"How about it? Am I not good enough as your teacher?"

"No, that's not it at all! Tina, you're... so strong."

Tina's level was several times higher than the knights and mages who trained my brothers. To have such a person as my teacher, there was no room for complaint.

"Hehe, I am Master Hart's personal maid and bodyguard!"

"R, really?"

No, she's overqualified even as a bodyguard. If Tina wanted to, she could probably take on the entire knight corps of this country alone. Her level is that high.

The strongest knight in the country, the captain of the knight corps, is said to be level 130. Level 130 is strong enough to defeat A-rank monsters like an Orc King or an Ogre alone, which is certainly in the category of strong.

However, once you surpass level 150, the strength changes dramatically. In this world, ordinary people can't reach level 150 and advance to a third-class job.

Tina's job, Magic Swordsman, is a third-class job that only those who have mastered both magic and swordsmanship can achieve. To become a third-class job, you need to reach level 150, the human limit, and then complete a "Trial of the Gods."

First, very few people reach level 150.

There are those who start as third-class jobs.

They are the heroes who come from other worlds.

When heroes are transferred to this world, they instantly become third-class jobs like Sages or Holy Knights at level 150. Heroes are one of the third-class jobs. Moreover, heroes from other worlds are said to level up quickly.

That's why the Demon King is easily defeated.

Anyway, leaving the hero talk aside, the issue is Tina's status. In this world, your job level increases when you defeat monsters or demons, and your attack power and other stats increase accordingly.

The higher your level, the stronger the monsters you need to defeat to level up. Considering this, Tina's level 250 is, frankly, monstrous.

"Is Tina a descendant of a hero?"

"Yes, one of my great-grandfathers was a hero from another world. Thanks to the hero's bloodline, I was able to level up quite easily."

"Still, that's amazing."

"Thank you. Well, shall we start the training?"

I was curious about why Tina became my personal maid, but since she was going to teach me how to use magic, which I had been looking forward to, I decided to ask about it later.

"Master Hart, your job is Apprentice Mage, so you have a natural aptitude for magic."

Before I reincarnated, Tina had apparently shown me her status board. She doesn't know that I am cursed or that my job is fixed as a Sage.

When I reincarnated into Hart's body, I was cursed, and my job was fixed as a Sage, which is why I have the status of a Sage at level 1.

In other words, Tina thinks my job is Apprentice Mage. I felt it was better not to explain the curse.

I don't want to be mistaken for a hero who reincarnated. Since I can't level up, I can't become stronger—I can't fight. I feel bad about the trouble I might cause Tina as a poor student in the future.

"Would you have preferred to be a swordsman?"

Tina asked, looking a bit worried because I was lost in thought.

"No, it's fine. I want to try using magic!"

"Understood. First, I'll show you an example."

With that, Tina faced the magic training target at the back of the training room and raised her arm. I could see magic power gathering in her hand.

The gathered magic power moved a short distance in front of her hand, and a flame appeared in the air. The flame gradually elongated and took the shape of a spear.

"Fire Lance!"

As Tina chanted and thrust her hand forward, the flame spear shot toward the target at high speed.

"–!"

The moment the flame spear hit the target, it burst into flames. The heat was intense, and I instinctively covered my face with my arm.

The flames quickly subsided.

The target, which should have been able to withstand mid-level magic attacks, was now a large, blackened, and charred mess with a huge hole in it. Neither the knights who trained my brothers nor the mages who taught my sister could have destroyed the target to this extent.

By the way, Fire Lance is the lowest-level fire magic.

"Ah, I got a bit carried away trying to show you something good, Master Hart."

I found Tina's embarrassed smile a bit cute, but I was slightly intimidated by her magic attack power, which could cause high-level magic-class destruction even with a low-level spell.
