「Fire Lance!」
I cast the spell while looking at my status board.
Magic: 10/10 [Fixed]
As expected, it's just as I thought!
My magic hasn't decreased.
「Fire Lance! Fire Lance! Fire Lance!」
Magic: 10/10 [Fixed]
I tried casting it in rapid succession, but my magic still hasn't decreased at all.
──My hypothesis was correct.
The curse placed on me by the evil god doesn't fix the maximum value of my stats; it fixes the stats themselves. In other words, no matter how much magic I use, my magic power will never run out.
“…Could this mean I can become stronger if I use it right?”
I compare the target that Tina destroyed yesterday with the one I just charred. Although I didn't manage to destroy the target, I was able to deal considerable damage using the same spell as Tina.
There should be a significant difference in magical attack power between me, a level 1, and Tina, a level 250. However, by casting spells in rapid succession, I might be able to achieve an attack power that rivals those with high magical attack power.
Even with my level 1 stats being [Fixed], there seems to be a way to become stronger. I can see what I need to do to fully enjoy my life in this different world.
1. Be able to cast spells quickly and in rapid succession.
2. Increase the power of a single spell.
I can already cast spells smoothly in rapid succession, but I feel that with more practice in magic manipulation, the speed at which I cast spells can still improve.
As for 2, I don't have concrete proof yet, but I'm considering whether combining spells with different properties can increase the power of a single spell.
For example, with Fire Lance, I think its power and speed could be enhanced by using a wind spell to assist it.
In the world I used to live in, there were ninja comics where fire ninjutsu was enhanced with wind ninjutsu. I plan to experiment with various methods, referencing the training techniques I saw in those comics.
First, I'll start with training to cast spells at high speed.
──***──
Before I knew it, it was noon. I had been continuously casting Fire Lance at the target for about two hours. Of course, my magic hasn't decreased, and there are no issues with my health.
The evil god said he would prevent me from excelling in this world, but maybe he's actually a good guy who gave me a cheat skill as a curse.
I started to think this way.
“I'm hungry.”
It was noon, but Tina still hadn't returned.
“Will ringing this bell bring her back?”
In front of me was the bell Tina had left. I rang it on a whim.
──!?
About ten seconds after ringing the bell, Tina flew back at an incredible speed.
“Master Halt! Are you alright!?”
“No, I'm fine, but you….”
Tina landed softly beside me and approached me. When she gave me the bell, she said that ringing it would bring her flying back.
I thought it meant she would hurry back, but she literally flew.
Come to think of it, I remember Tina mentioning that she could use flight magic, but she rarely used it because it consumed a lot of magic power.
She must have flown back here.
“Are you feeling well? Are you overexerting yourself? Why did you ring the bell?”
“I'm just hungry….”
“Oh, it's already noon! I'm sorry for being late. I'll prepare the meal right away.”
Despite using the bell for something as trivial as asking for a meal, Tina didn't complain at all and hurried back to the mansion.
──***──
“Didn't you say you don't use flight magic because it consumes a lot of magic power?”
While eating the lunch Tina prepared, I asked her.
My parents are often out during the day, and my brothers are away for work or school, so I usually eat with Tina.
“In emergencies, I do use it. The possibility that something might have happened to Master Halt is the highest level of emergency for me.”
“Ah, sorry for ringing the bell just for a meal.”
“Please don't worry about it. I'll continue to give you the bell, so please use it without hesitation if anything happens.”
Tina said this, but I'll only use it in real emergencies from now on.
“By the way, Master Halt, have you already used intermediate-level magic?”
“Huh, why?”
“Earlier, I saw the target at the training ground, and it looked like it had been attacked with a spell of considerable power.”
It seems Tina saw the target I used for training. I didn't expect her to return so quickly, so I didn't have time to clean up.
“No, I only used Fire Lance, the same as yesterday. It felt more powerful than yesterday, though.”
“I see. Are you sure you're feeling well?”
“Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry.”
Tina didn't pry too deeply. I need to be more careful about my training methods in the future. If I tell Tina about the curse, she will surely continue to be on my side. However, I feel it's too early to reveal everything.
I still don't understand many things about the curse. I'll investigate more on my own. I started considering ways to train in magic without Tina finding out.
