The school gate had already returned to its usual calm, with no more parents dropping off their children or students being escorted. Ye Qingzhu's courage grew, and she asked Tong Yan to drop her off right at the main gate. She would then go to the bike shed to park her bike, while Tong Yan returned to the dormitory.
It was almost dinner time, and the dorm room was empty, but the beds of the four roommates were already neatly made, indicating that everyone was back. On his bed, Tong Yan saw his summer homework spread out, with large sections of blank pages exposed. He guessed that Wang Ping would be furious.

Duan Hou's face didn't look good. When he saw Tong Yan, he ignored him and walked past, and Tong Yan even heard him mutter "hmm."

No one knew she had transferred, and they thought the usually cheerful and chubby girl was just late.
After a brief moment of reminiscence about Zini, Tong Yan quickly put on a relaxed face and gently shook his desk mate, Dong Mian's arm. "Mian, can I borrow your math, English, physics, and chemistry homework?"
Dong Mian was a slender and frail boy. Tong Yan's light shake almost made him fall apart. When Tong Yan stopped, Dong Mian adjusted his thick glasses and said bluntly, "I didn't do it."
"Why, @#￥%…" Tong Yan, in a panic, blurted out some gibberish.
"I thought you always did your homework so well at the start of each term, so I played games all summer. How was I supposed to know you didn't do it this time?"
Then both of them looked at Cheng Xianru in the first row. Girls usually did more homework, and Cheng Xianru did a lot and did it well, especially in English, which could be used as the answer key.
Tong Yan shook his head first. "I won't borrow it. You go if you want."
Dong Mian adjusted his glasses, stood up hesitantly, and then sat back down. "I won't go either!"
This stalemate wasn't going to work. Since class hadn't started yet, they needed to gather as many papers as possible while they could still move around.
The two of them split up and circled the classroom, eventually returning with most of the English papers, about half of the math papers, and a few physics and chemistry papers.
With the help of the whole class, they could probably piece together a complete set of summer homework answers. However, some people had already lent out their papers, and even though Tong Yan had a lot of face, he couldn't force them to give up their papers. If you didn't do it, they needed to copy it too.
Tong Yan slapped the papers he had on Dong Mian's desk. "You start working on it. I'll go get some physics and chemistry papers. We're all top students; we can't be stumped by this little thing!"
"Take your time, top student!"
"Wait for the thunder!"
On the second floor, Tong Yan was only close to Ye Qingzhu in Class 1. Despite being the Chinese class representative, Ye Qingzhu was known for her strength in science subjects. With Zini's departure, the two junior high school classmates felt a stronger bond, so Tong Yan went straight to her.
Ye Qingzhu's seat was by the window in the corridor. Tong Yan knocked on the window, startling her.
"What's up?" Ye Qingzhu was reading a second-year physics book, which meant she had already finished her homework. Tong Yan couldn't help but think, "True top student!"
Tong Yan explained his request, and Ye Qingzhu immediately pulled out all her homework from her bag in the drawer. "Don't lose it."
Because of her cold personality, classmates rarely asked her to borrow her homework, which made it easier for the bold Tong Yan.

Tong Yan's act of knocking on the window and borrowing papers wasn't unusual to the students in Class 1. They knew Ye Qingzhu and Tong Yan, as well as Tian Zini, were junior high school classmates, and the cold beauty only smiled at them.
