Chapter 7

At this point, it wouldn't be right not to say something, so let's say something.

After finishing "The Rise of the Big Shot," I really didn't want to touch entertainment stories again. Although I still had a few unconventional ideas in my head, I was really tired. Entertainment stories, especially those about the entertainment industry in mainland China, are prone to crossing the line. A slight misstep could turn a hard-earned article into a blacklisted one, or even get it deleted. So, Bai Fo decided not to touch entertainment stories for a while.

At that time, the story of "Born to Write" (also known as "Literary Tycoon") kept circling in my mind. However, I was worried that Qidian wouldn't want to see a story that narrates its history, including its dark history, so I didn't write it. Instead, I impulsively decided to write a maritime fantasy story. Unfortunately, the very catchy title I came up with wasn't approved. After changing the title to "Pointing the Vast Sea," I uploaded it, but it was quickly lost in the vast ocean of Qidian, not even making a ripple.

After a period of silence, I went through dozens of ideas in my folder and realized that the only genre I could handle now was urban, and it had to be closely related to my own life. Otherwise, with my life experience, I might not write it well. Thus, "Born to Write" was born.

"Born to Write" had bad luck. It signed late, changed status late, and after a single recommendation during the new book period, it rolled down. Moreover, the recommendation effects were one worse than the other. At this point, I finally realized that the problem might be the title. The title clearly and explicitly pointed out the book's intent—writing—but people who like stories about writing are a minority. The title attracted some people but scared away most.

So, before the strong recommendation, Bai Fo finally decided to change the title. Since I couldn't come up with a good title, I widely solicited suggestions. Finally, from dozens of replies, I saw "Literary Tycoon." At first glance, it seemed a bit rustic, but it made me curious about what kind of story it might be, giving me a strong urge to read it.

Thus, "Literary Tycoon" was born. Thank you to the person who suggested the title, Wufang Xingjin!

After changing the title, "Literary Tycoon" increased its collection count from 4,800 before the strong recommendation to nearly 8,000 now. Bai Fo is very satisfied with this result.

Now comes the time to test these 8,000 readers and myself. In the past, I saw that Long Kong Xiao Erhei's subscription statistics often showed a 24-hour subscription ratio of 20:1, 30:1, or even 100:1, which was really scary. How many subscriptions will I get from 8,000 collections? Will it be enough to buy a pancake every day?

Later, someone told me that the book's recommendations looked good, and it received a lot of tips. The book review section was quite active, with over 1,400 discussion threads, indicating a high level of reader cohesion. It's a typical niche book, so the subscription numbers shouldn't be too bad. Although I've seen many niche books with poor subscriptions, this time I choose to believe in it because I can see the readers' recognition of the book from their comments in the book review section. I can see the enthusiasm of the book friends from the lively discussions in the reader group. I believe that the ten years of Qidian I've meticulously collected data, deliberated, and written about are the ten years we've all experienced, been moved by, and gone crazy over.

I also hope that every reader who likes "Literary Tycoon" can take out a few Qidian coins, a few cents, to support Bai Fo and, in turn, support "Literary Tycoon." A writer's persistence relies entirely on the support of readers; we are mutually dependent.

Regarding the updates after going VIP this month, the length of each chapter will be increased to 3,000 words. On the first day, there will be at least three updates, and then two updates per day. As a hand-disabled party, this is already my greatest effort. When the monthly votes accumulate to 50, there will be an additional chapter (but not guaranteed on the same day). Each time the book goes red, there will also be an additional chapter (also not guaranteed on the same day). Since I write slowly, I set the additional chapter standards a bit higher, hoping for your understanding. I don't think anyone wants to see me flooding the market to meet the update requirements.

The specific VIP launch time will be after the editor starts work in the morning. Please wait patiently for the first VIP chapter and extend your subscription to support the beauty of being a reader...
