Please look forward to it!
I have resigned from my company.
It was a company that created retro-style games, which are rare in this day and age, but it couldn't go against the tide of time.
The world is captivated by full-dive VR games, which are the culmination of VR technology.
We are truly in the great VR era!
Numerous game companies line up, and it's no exaggeration to say that everyone is making VR games.
Whenever I talk about this, I'm always asked, "Don't users get scattered with so many games being made?"
To cut to the chase, they do get scattered.
However, users are like tuna, a migratory fish.
They latch onto the game that's trending at the moment, and when they get bored or accumulate dissatisfaction, they move on to another game.
They keep moving constantly, always seeking to share topics with many people.
People are in an era where they seek interaction with others through games more than the games themselves...
In such an era, there's no demand for retro games that don't even have online multiplayer.
Well, there is a niche market, which is why the company I worked for still exists, but the business is tough.
More and more people are just watching others play on video.
I guess you could say it's our fault for not adapting to the changing times.
So, I decided to take early retirement.
It's cooler to step down on my own than to be fired.
I don't think I was that useful anyway...
Retro games are often thought to be easy to make, but in this era, they're actually harder.
It's similar to how pixel art gave way to 3D games.
You need skill to go against the flow of time.
A man like me, who just reminisces about the old days, is no longer needed.
"Right, from today, I'm one of the migratory fish."
What I took out of the bag is the latest VRMMORPG, "Next Stage Online."
The name of the manufacturer... well, let's not go there.
Given that I'm from the same industry, recognizing the company's name would make it hard to enjoy the game purely.
Anyway, let's set up the software on the hardware.
The VR device I have at home is a proud capsule type.
Well, proud might be an overstatement since they're quite affordable these days.
"Huh? Where do I put the software in this thing?"
Despite appearances, I've been all work and no play, so I haven't used the device much.
Thanks to that, I have a decent savings, so I can enjoy games leisurely even after being laid off.
Depending on the situation, making a living as a pro gamer or streamer isn't bad.
It used to be criticized, but now it's a respectable job.
Being a former game company employee and a top pro gamer sounds pretty cool.
"Oh, it goes in here, huh?"
I set the software in the device.
Alright, let's turn it on.
Vrooom...
Is that a low-frequency sound?
It sounds like the machine is starting up.
The kid inside me is getting excited.
Well, I have plenty of time.
Let's enjoy the game with a pure heart.
