I was awakened early the next morning by the loud barking of an animal.

A voice could be heard from outside the door.

"Miss Lise is still sleeping --"

"Still sleeping? My fun walk has already started!"

I opened my eyes wide.

That's right. Yesterday, I was given a new task by the Duke.

I hastily put on my slippers and flung open the door.

"Sorry, sorry, I overslept!"

"Miss Lise! I apologize, this foolish dog is making a loud noise --"

"What do you mean, foolish dog!?"

The dog, with its impressive fluffy chest fur, stood tall... or sat tall? Anyway, it planted its hands and feet on the floor and leaned back.

"I am my master's contracted spirit! My master's beloved pet and a wolf spirit, Felirus!"

"--- He's a loud and rude dog like this."

"I am not foolish! Wolves are strong, wise, and swift!"

The large dog growled threateningly.

Pierre smiled cutely.

"Miss Lise, please ignore the foolish dog and get some more rest. You can go for a walk three days or even a week from now."

"N-no, I'm awake now, I'll fulfill my duty!"

"Are you the girl who was appointed as my walking partner?"

Felirus glared at me with carnivorous eyes.

Then, he snorted derisively.

"I thought you'd be some kind of hero who caught my master, but you're just a scrawny, weak girl!"

"Wh-what!?"

"I apologize. When the foolish dog tried to understand your position, it came up with such a strange answer."

"That's not a strange answer! In the world of wolves, only the strong lead the pack! The leader's mate must also be strong!"

"Don't take him seriously. You might catch his foolishness."

"Anyway! Don't think you can handle my leash, you scrawny girl!"

"Felirus."

Pierre's tone became very low.

"--- Do you want me to report your bad attitude to Dior-sama?"

Felirus took a deep breath and then...

Suddenly started wagging his tail.

The big dog looked at me with teary eyes.

Oh, he's so cute.

"--- It was all a light joke!"

Felirus picked up the leash with his mouth.

"Here."

While holding the leash, he mumbled and looked at me with teary, black eyes. Oh, he's so cute, I can't resist. I ended up taking the leash.

"Let's go, girl! We'll start by walking around the mansion's garden slowly. No need to rush, just get used to the long distance."

"Y-yes."

And so, I began my job as Felirus' walking partner.

Walking Felirus was tough.

With Felirus eagerly wanting to run at full speed, I ran as fast as I could.

I soon got out of breath and had to walk.

By the time we completed one lap around the large garden, I was exhausted.

"Good job, girl! For a weak human, you did well! I'll praise you!"

Felirus howled and praised me (??).

"But you're still not reliable enough to hold my leash! I run 100 kilometers every day! You need to be able to keep up with at least a tenth of that!"

"Ten kilometers!?"

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, girl! Keep doing it every day! Now, repeat after me: 'Muscles are --'"

"Wh-what...?"

"Muscles are --"

"M-muscles are?"

"--- Never betray you!!"

"U-never betray you!"

"That's it! Become a person worthy of holding my leash!"

"I understand...!"

"Alright, morning training is over! The next session is in the evening!"

"Thank you!"

I parted ways with Felirus, who was heading somewhere for 'feeding time,' and returned to my room.

Felirus is such a fun dog.

But, it's hard to tell who's actually walking whom...

I need to get a bit more fit.

In the evening, I walked around the garden with Felirus again.

The garden was really big, and I was exhausted just from that.

"Alright, girl, your next task! Fill these two buckets with water! The larger one is for bathing, and the smaller one is for tomorrow's drinking water! The water source is that well!"

Felirus somehow appeared with a set of large and small buckets and dragged them over.

"I understand..."

I forced my tired body to grab the bucket at the well.

Then, a question came to mind.

Wait, isn't Felirus a wolf spirit?

Wolf spirits are supposed to live in icy lands.

"Isn't Felirus a water spirit?"

"Yes."

"Can't you summon water yourself?"

"Well water tastes better!"

It was a matter of taste.

I dunked the bucket into the well.

When I tried to lift it, it was surprisingly light.

Ah, this rope has a [Weight Reduction] spell on it.

I thought, if I rewrite the spell on the rope so that Felirus can use it, it would solve the problem.

Improving magical items was secretly one of my specialties.

I held the rope and scooped some water, thinking about how to improve the spell.

"--- Like this?"

I compressed the [Weight Reduction] spell and added a description to the empty space: 'When magic flows, the bucket automatically drops, fills with water, and returns to its designated place.'

I was satisfied with the formula and decided to have Felirus try it.

"Can you put your paw here?"

"What, girl? I'm busy in the bath."

"I designed a mechanism where, when you place your paw and flow magic, the bucket will rise on its own. This way, you can draw as much well water as you want by yourself."

"--- What?"

When Felirus' thick front paw touched the edge of the well, the bucket dropped, filled with water, and moved up to the top.

"Oh? Oh? Oh! Girl, you did it!"

Felirus wagged his tail happily.

I got drenched in the water splashed by his tail.

"Sorry! My tail got out of control! I was just too happy!"

Since he apologized, I said I didn't mind at all.

"As an apology and a thank you, I'll give you the best bone for dinner!"

"Wh-what, a bone!?"

"Bones are delicious! They're good for your health!"

"For a weak human's jaw, it's a bit... "

"What! What a pitiful species!"

Felirus talked about how strong the wolf species is and came out of the bath feeling refreshed both mentally and physically.
