"Screech!"

After driving for about half an hour, suddenly, the minivan came to an abrupt stop.

"Uncle Li, what's wrong?" Zhang Yi asked in alarm. Apart from Tang Cheng, the other four people also looked at Li Guodong. Although they had not yet encountered any life-threatening danger, they were in a city filled with zombies, so they did not dare to let their guard down, always on edge.

Li Guodong shook his head, "Nothing, but there's no road ahead."

"No road?" Everyone was taken aback. They then looked out the window and understood what Li Guodong meant. The street ahead was cluttered with various abandoned vehicles, leaving only a narrow, winding path.

Although such a narrow path could not completely block them, it was almost impossible to drive through it.

"Expected," Tang Cheng said calmly, "Since 90% of the people in this city have turned into zombies, most of the streets should be in a semi-paralyzed state. To be honest, motorcycles would be the best choice in this situation... but I only know how to ride women and wooden horses, so forget it."

As he spoke, Tang Cheng opened the car door and got out.

Everyone ignored Tang Cheng's last remark and got out of the car one by one, then followed Tang Cheng along the narrow path formed by the abandoned vehicles.

After walking for a while, Li Guodong suddenly suggested, "Brother Tang, I think I should lead the way. I lived in the U.S. for a while due to work, so I'm more familiar with the area. Also, in terms of type, I'm more suitable to lead."

Tang Cheng glanced at him, then moved to the back of the group and shrugged, "Alright, I'll take the rear." Although he didn't know Li Guodong's intentions—whether he genuinely wanted to take on the responsibility of the team leader or had other plans—Tang Cheng was happy to let him take the lead.

Li Guodong nodded and said to Zhang Yi, "Zhang Yi, you follow me. If we encounter enemies, use your magic to support me. Tang Ya, Su Xiaoqing, and Lu Xiaotian, you three have no combat ability for now, so it's best to stay in the middle."

It had to be said that Li Guodong's arrangement of the group was quite scientific. As the one with the strongest melee weapon and a bell that could confuse zombies, he was the best choice to lead. Zhang Yi's magic attacks could support him to some extent, and Tang Cheng, who could remain calm, walking at the back, could ensure a response to any rear attacks. This way, both the front and back were secured, and Tang Ya and Su Xiaoqing, who, though lacking combat ability, were crucial to the team as medical and support personnel, could be protected to a large extent.

Thus, the six of them continued forward.

After walking for about an hour without encountering any zombies, everyone gradually relaxed. It was at this moment that Tang Cheng suddenly shouted, "Stop!"

"What's wrong?" Everyone turned to look at him.

Tang Cheng pointed to his right, "Look."

Following his finger, they saw a huge building with two black glass doors as its only entrance.

"It seems our luck is good," Tang Cheng smiled.

Of course, everyone had not forgotten one of their goals and knew what Tang Cheng meant, but Tang Ya asked curiously, "Why do you think this is where Alice is being held? We've seen similar buildings on our way here."

"Intuition," Tang Cheng said.

Li Guodong said lightly, "If you were a woman, I might believe your intuition, but... since you said it, let's go in and check."

With that, Li Guodong gripped his large knife and walked towards the building.

The building was grand and luxurious from the outside. They pushed open the glass doors and walked in without any obstacles, immediately feeling a cold, refreshing breeze.

The sudden change in temperature made the five people, except for Tang Cheng, tense up, instinctively raising their weapons and looking around. Even Tang Ya and Su Xiaoqing tightly gripped their pistols. Although they hadn't seen a police station on their way, they had found some usable weapons from the abandoned police cars, equipping the three non-combatants.

"There's a smell of medicine," Tang Cheng sniffed and said.

"You can smell that?" Zhang Yi looked surprised. He tried to sniff but only smelled the city.

Tang Cheng smiled but said nothing, only telling everyone, "Now I'm 70% sure Alice is in this building. According to the plot of the movie, she is held in a room on the first floor. If the plot hasn't changed, we can likely rescue her before Umbrella Corporation activates the Alice project."

As he said this, Tang Cheng himself didn't believe the plot of Resident Evil would remain unchanged. At least... the mutated zombies mentioned in the mission did not exist in Resident Evil 2.

Of course, this was just a biological change, or perhaps a deliberate strengthening of some zombies by the cycle world to increase the difficulty for the challengers. Whether there were other changes in the plot was uncertain.

But Tang Cheng was sure that if they rescued Alice first, the plot would likely change.

"Although it's the first floor, it's quite large..." After walking for a while, they came to a four-way intersection, and Li Guodong frowned, "With our numbers, it will take a lot of time to search the entire first floor. Most of the rooms are locked, and it's impossible to open them with ordinary methods. If we can find the surveillance room, it might be easier."

"Then let's split up," Tang Cheng suggested, "We six will divide into three... no, two groups. I'll take two people to search the first floor, and you, Uncle Li, take the other two to find the surveillance room. If anything happens, use the walkie-talkies to contact each other."

Earlier, in the abandoned police car, they had found some weapons and a few walkie-talkies. In this world, their usefulness was no less than that of weapons and food. However, only two of the walkie-talkies worked, and they were given to Li Guodong, the team leader, and Tang Cheng.

"Alright, then I'll take Zhang Yi and Tang Ya," Li Guodong nodded. He chose Tang Ya because, in the previous events, only Tang Cheng and Tang Ya had thought of finding Alice to increase the mission completion rate, showing that Tang Ya's reasoning and analytical skills were also quite good.

Since Li Guodong chose Zhang Yi and Tang Ya, Su Xiaoqing and Lu Xiaotian had to follow Tang Cheng to search the first floor. Everyone agreed with this arrangement.

Before parting, Tang Cheng smiled and reminded them, "Remember to use the stairs."

"Don't worry, we won't use the elevator," the three understood.

As everyone knows, in countless horror movies, elevators are a common place of death. If something goes wrong in an elevator, it's usually unsolvable.
