In September, at the Jiangjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, in the library.

Fang Qiu casually picked a book on traditional Chinese medicine, "Orthopedics," from the shelf and went to the rest area.

As a freshman who had just enrolled, unable to attend military training due to the rain, he immediately came to the library to read books.

Although he didn't know much about traditional Chinese medicine before entering university, this didn't hinder his interest in it and in saving lives.

Of course, he had his own reasons for applying to the university of traditional Chinese medicine.

Fang Qiu pulled out a chair at a table, sat down, and placed "Orthopedics" on the table.

He looked down at the book in front of him.

However, he didn't turn the pages but simply placed his hands on either side of the book.

Then, he lightly tapped the book with his right hand.

A strange and magical scene unfolded!

Without any other movements, just that tap, the book silently turned the page on its own!

Fang Qiu remained calm in the face of such a bizarre scene, as if everything was normal.

Fortunately, it was the beginning of the school year, and the library was almost empty, with no one around to witness the strange scene, or they might have thought it was haunted and been terrified.

Fang Qiu's right hand kept lifting and tapping, and the book kept turning pages until it reached the main content.

He read with great interest.

Just as he finished a page, his right hand lifted again, ready to tap.

At that moment, hurried footsteps sounded from a distance.

Fang Qiu, maintaining his composure, slowly lowered his raised hand.

The book remained still, and the sound behind him grew closer.

"Fang Qiu, I finally found you!"

Fang Qiu turned his head and saw that it was Liu Feifei, the assistant class teacher for their Class 3.

A beautiful and enthusiastic senior.

He remembered that on the first day of school, when Liu Feifei introduced herself as their class teacher, the boys in the class immediately lit up with excitement.

"I didn't expect you to be so studious. When everyone else is sleeping after the exhausting military training, you actually come here to read books?!"

Liu Feifei walked to the opposite side of Fang Qiu, sat down, glanced at the book on the table, and said approvingly, "Ancient text? Can you understand it? Our TCM major only starts orthopedics in the second semester, so it's a bit early to read this now!"

"Just browsing," Fang Qiu replied without directly saying he could understand it.

He indeed could understand it.

"Your spirit is commendable!" Liu Feifei praised, then asked with bright eyes, "I called you several times, but no one answered. What happened?"

Fang Qiu was taken aback and immediately checked his phone, finding five missed calls. He said somewhat embarrassedly, "It was on silent, so I didn't hear it."

Liu Feifei nodded in relief, realizing he hadn't deliberately ignored her call.

As a first-time class teacher, she had high hopes for the new freshmen and didn't want to have a rebellious student so early in the school year.

"The reason I called you is that our college has decided to hold an outdoor Mid-Autumn Festival party for the freshmen on the playground tomorrow evening. The college requires each freshman class to perform a program. I'm here to collect your program. Everyone in the class must participate, so don't think about escaping. After you report, I'll select from them."

Liu Feifei explained and then asked directly, "What are your specialties?"

"Specialties?"

Fang Qiu thought for a moment and said, "Does playing the flute count?"

Liu Feifei's eyes lit up, and she asked eagerly, "How good are you? What level are you at?"

"Average, I guess. I haven't taken any exams."

Fang Qiu thought about his skill level and then compared it to the old man's, giving himself a fair evaluation.

Liu Feifei was somewhat disappointed, hoping for a stunning performance from the class, but it turned out to be just average.

"Can I hear you play the flute first?"

She had decided that if his skill was indeed average, there was no need to report it.

Fang Qiu hesitated and said, "I can, but my flute is in the dorm."

He pointed at the book, clearly indicating that he wanted to continue reading and didn't want to go back to the dorm.

"Xiao Fang!"

Liu Feifei's affectionate call made Fang Qiu shiver.

"Time is tight. We need to report the program by noon today. You have to understand, right?"

Seeing the beautiful senior's smiling face and gentle request, Fang Qiu felt a headache.

This tactic was hard to resist!

He couldn't refuse, but if he didn't, he would have to spend at least forty minutes walking back and forth between the dorm and the library.

He really didn't want to waste too much time, and as a freshman, he didn't have a library card yet, so he couldn't borrow books.

After a brief hesitation, Fang Qiu said, "How about this, Senior, I'll perform a hand flute for you. That should give you a general idea of my skill level, okay?"

"Hand flute? What's a hand flute?"

Liu Feifei looked puzzled but became interested again.

Fang Qiu patiently explained, "A hand flute is a way of playing by using your hands as a resonating chamber. It's quite simple."

Hearing it was simple, Liu Feifei's interest waned.

Seeing Fang Qiu's studiousness, she, as a senior and class teacher, didn't want to disturb him and agreed to this compromise.

"Alright, I'll listen attentively."

Seeing he didn't have to go back to the dorm, Fang Qiu smiled and put his phone down.

Under the gaze of the beautiful senior, he crossed his hands in a cupped position, leaving a small hole between his thumbs.

He brought his mouth close to his thumbs.

His chest expanded.

Air flowed out of his mouth.

A beautiful melody instantly filled the entire library.

"What is this?"

Liu Feifei's eyes widened in shock, and she exclaimed, "Is this 'Blue and White Porcelain'?"

The next moment stunned her even more.

Fang Qiu nodded while playing, without affecting his performance.

Liu Feife looked at Fang Qiu in amazement.

She had thought the hand flute would be similar to whistling, but she never expected it to be so magical, producing a melody that sounded like heavenly music.

This skill was too incredible!

She never imagined there was such a talented person in her class!

She was so captivated by the beautiful melody that she couldn't think of anything else.

She felt as if she was wandering through the ancient and elegant landscapes of southern China, holding a pink paper umbrella, standing on a stone bridge, gazing into the distance, and seeing the beautiful blue and white porcelain being created, witnessing a touching love story.

The sky is blue, waiting for the rain, and I am waiting for you.

Smoke rises from the chimneys, across the river, a thousand miles away.

She felt like both an observer and the heroine of the love story.

A sense of sorrow and longing lingered in her heart.

So beautiful!

So sad!

The melody continued, taking her through the misty rain of southern China, making her lose herself in the beauty, unable to return.

...

After the performance, Fang Qiu put down his hands and glanced at the senior still immersed in the melody, not wanting to disturb her, and continued reading.

A minute later.

The senior came to her senses, grabbed his hands, and said with shining eyes, "Amazing! Fang Qiu, you're amazing! It's so beautiful!"

"I've heard 'Blue and White Porcelain' dozens of times, but this is the first time I felt so immersed in it! Who would have thought you could produce such heavenly music with just your hands!"

"Senior, you're too kind."

Fang Qiu quickly pulled his hands away, feeling somewhat embarrassed, as he didn't think his skill was that great.

"Not at all!"

Liu Feifei directly refuted Fang Qiu's self-assessment and then gave him a reproachful look, "You said you were average, almost fooling me! Now, as your class teacher, I formally inform you that your performance is selected. No need for a flute, just use your hands!"

She laughed excitedly, "Now we have two programs, and they will surely shine!"

"Two?"

Fang Qiu asked in confusion, "What's the other program?"

"Chen Cong's martial arts performance! This guy also kept it hidden, his punches were powerful, and he didn't say anything. Although it's not as good as yours, it's still a great program!"

Liu Feifei stood up and raised her fist to cheer Fang Qiu on, "Our class relies on you two tomorrow night! Good luck!"

She then took out her library card from her pocket and threw it to Fang Qiu.

"This is a reward from your senior. Return it to me when you get your own card."

She left in a hurry.

Martial arts?

Fang Qiu looked at his hands and smiled.

He knew martial arts too.

But his was called kung fu.

Or martial arts.

Thinking of kung fu, Fang Qiu couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy and sighed.

He wondered how the old man was doing.

He started learning martial arts at the age of three and was now seventeen, having trained for fourteen years.

All of this was done in secret, unknown to anyone, including his parents.

At the age of three, he met the old man, who secretly taught him for twelve years.

It wasn't until his second year of high school, when he broke through a certain level, that he realized the old man had a hidden illness. At that time, he also learned that the old man had been suppressing his illness with his powerful cultivation to teach him, instead of seeking treatment.

When he could no longer suppress it, the old man left with a message, "I have nothing more to teach. Practice well, I will go to treat my illness. We will meet again if fate allows."

He knew the old man's injury was not easy to cure, otherwise, he wouldn't have waited so long.

Thinking of the person who had taught him for twelve years without any complaints, and that he couldn't repay or help him in any way, he felt a deep sense of guilt and pain.

That's why he applied to the university of traditional Chinese medicine.

He hoped to become a great doctor and cure the old man's illness.

And to cure more people's illnesses.

He knew that the sooner he learned, the less danger the old man would be in.

He hoped the old man could hold on until that day.

The most difficult part was that he didn't know what specific illness the old man had. Although he sensed the hidden illness, he didn't know the exact condition.

Therefore, he couldn't study specifically.

So, he had to learn as much as he could about the various treatments in traditional Chinese medicine, and not waste a single moment.

He chose to read books on orthopedics first because he was a martial artist and had some knowledge of bones and muscles. He had also learned some treatments for injuries from the old man.

So, he could understand these ancient texts more quickly.

He hoped to learn comprehensively and become a great doctor.

He hoped the old man was well.

Fang Qiu sighed, put away the library card, and focused on his reading.

The library returned to its quiet state.

As his hand kept lifting and tapping, the pages of the book kept turning.

Soon, he finished one book.

He stood up, went to the bookshelf, and picked another ancient text on orthopedics.

He planned to study each subject one by one until he mastered them all, and only read ancient texts. If modern medicine could cure the old man's illness, it would have been done long ago, so he chose to seek methods in ancient texts.

Soon, he finished another book.

Fang Qiu read very quickly, so fast that it didn't seem like reading but flipping through pages.

By noon, he had already read four or five ancient texts on orthopedics.

Checking his phone, he saw it was already 11:00 AM. He stretched, circulated his internal energy, and the fatigue disappeared.

He took the unfinished book and selected a few more ancient texts on orthopedics to take back to the dorm.

At the checkout counter, he handed the books and the library card to the librarian, a middle-aged man who looked somewhat stern.

The man casually glanced at the library card, then looked at the stack of ancient texts, his eyes showing a hint of surprise. He then looked up at Fang Qiu, his surprise growing.

"A freshman? Can you understand them?"
