Chapter 23

With a flourish of the pen,
After much deliberation, I decided to change some scenes that might cause discomfort to readers.
Originally, in my previous setting, Zhou Zhiruo was a very pitiful woman. From the beginning, I didn't consider her as the main female lead. She and Zhang Wuji had a romantic relationship, but then she was retaliated against by the protagonist in a certain way.
This way, on one hand, she would never be able to be with Zhang Wuji again. On the other hand, because she had been with Zhang in a certain way, she would also not be accepted by the protagonist.
As I wrote, I felt that Zhou Zhiruo was too pitiful, and she was already quite pitiful in the original story. When I watched the Wu Qihua and Li Zi version of "The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber," I was deeply moved by the scene where Zhou Zhiruo and Song Qingshu got married. Zhou Zhiruo shed tears because her beloved did not come to stop the wedding, feeling heartbroken and cold, while Song Qingshu, out of male pride, did not want to possess her at that moment.
At that time, I was filled with emotion, and the two pitiful characters inspired me to write this novel.
My original intention in writing this novel was to change the fate of some pitiful characters.
When I realized that I had made Zhou Zhiruo even more pitiful than in the original story, I decisively went back and revised the earlier chapters.
Life is already tough enough; there's no need to make it harder for everyone.
To the best of my ability,
I want to make Zhou Zhiruo and Song Qingshu happier,
So that readers won't feel uncomfortable,
And so that I can feel more joyful myself.
Forget about profundity and the enduring appeal of character development.
Right now, I just want to write a feel-good story.
Even if readers forget it after reading, what does it matter? Regarding the main female lead and some basic principles of this book,
I have someone in mind, but I haven't made the final decision yet. I want to hear your opinions first.
Nominations are welcome, up to two.
However, please note that,
The entry point of this book in each original work is in the latter part of the story.
So many of the original plots have already happened, and I am just continuing from there.
One principle of this book is to respect the love of the original couples.
The protagonist can be despicable and use any means to take and cuckold, but he will never steal the heart of the original female lead before she meets her official partner...
Of course, apart from the original female lead, there are many other popular women in the 14 novels who do not end up with the male lead...
Everyone is welcome to share their thoughts and leave comments in the corresponding pinned thread in the book review section.
Another point about the protagonist's moral issues:
Considering his background in the modern world, where he has struggled and climbed to a certain level, he cannot be a traditional good person. He will choose any means to achieve his goals,
But he is not blindly ignoring moral constraints. His guiding principle is the way of this world and a balance in his heart.
When he realizes that his actions will violate the rules of this world, he will not defy them like the villains in traditional novels, thus suffering various repercussions from the world and society;
However, when he is certain that his actions do not violate the great principles of the world, even if they go against traditional moral values, he will act without hesitation.
After all, in his heart, secular moral values ≠ the rules governing all things. For example, in traditional novels, as long as the protagonist is kind-hearted, he will have various adventures and encounters with beautiful women... Such a character conforms to secular moral values but does not align with the great principles of the universe. Think about it, how many purely kind-hearted people in your surroundings have the same fortune as the protagonist?
