Chapter 7

2 min read538 words

It is short.

There are two types of spies.

The social type, who blends into society and gathers information through daily life and social interactions.

The combat type, who trains rigorously and physically accesses confidential documents, and sometimes carries out assassinations and other acts of force.

Asura, the spy, is the head of the Yaksha family, one of the seven spy families serving the Aleista Kingdom. The Yaksha family is known for their expertise in peacetime intrigues, intelligence activities, and wartime sabotage. Although they are called combat types, in reality, they have been treated as the lowest of the seven families, specializing in dirty work.

Amidst this, the Yaksha family was given a new mission.

To assist Prince Meishin, who was joining the Hero's party, and to monitor the Hero Veldt.

The first to take on this mission was Asura's younger sister, Kagura. Despite her young age, she was a genius with innate transformation abilities and superior qualities that surpassed Asura. However, Kagura died protecting the Hero from an attack by the advisor Degis.

Asura hated the Hero.

The role he gave to Kagura was only to assist Meishin and monitor the Hero.

Not to protect the Hero.

The mission was to monitor the Hero to ensure he did not act against the interests of Aleista, to control his actions, and if necessary, to eliminate the Hero if he went too far.

But Kagura got too close to the Hero. She formed a relationship like a friend or a sister, and in the end, she died protecting the Hero.

Asura could not forgive this.

He could not forgive the Hero who used his beloved sister as a shield.

He could not forgive the demon who killed his beloved sister.

He could not forgive the Hero who opposed the extermination of the demons.

She was so beautiful.

She was so obedient.

So Asura, in a trance, attacked the Hero.

If possible, he wanted to torture and kill him slowly, and feed his body to the livestock, but Prince Meishin did not allow it.

A living Hero was unnecessary, but his body still had political value.

It was impossible to defy the royal family. He decided to suppress his desire for revenge.

Asura returned to Aleista's capital with Prince Meishin, the Hero's body, and the first army of the Aleista Demon King extermination force. Meishin, riding a white horse, received the cheers of the capital's people, but his expression remained solemn.

The Demon King was defeated. But the Hero also lost his life.

It was a bittersweet triumph.

As Meishin and Asura entered the palace grounds, King Darius of Aleista welcomed the Hero's coffin and praised Meishin and Asura for successfully defeating the Demon King. He delivered a speech mourning the fallen Hero Veldt and the Holy Maiden Tasha, and declared:

"The war against the demons is not yet over. This great war will not end until every last demon in the southern territories is eradicated! However, let us now rejoice in this victory! Let us show gratitude and mourning for the noble Hero and Holy Maiden who fell in this battle! To our soldiers who fought alongside the Hero! To my son Meishin, let us give praise and honor!"
