Chapter 8

Lin Yang was taken aback: "Mr. Chen, are you joking with me? Although I have studied some traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture on my own, it's only at a basic level. I can't possibly treat patients in a clinical setting. Human lives are at stake; you should seek help from the doctors in the hospital. Any one of them is more skilled than I am."

Chen Shiwen smiled bitterly: "Do you think I don't want to ask them for help? The problem is, they can't see me or hear me speak."

Lin Yang said: "I can go and deliver your message for you..."

Chen Shiwen interrupted him: "How would you tell them? By saying that Chen Shiwen's ghost has asked me to pass on a message? Do you think they would believe you, or would they send you straight to the psychiatric ward?"

"This..." Lin Yang was speechless.

He knew that Chen Shiwen's words made sense. If he really went to the hospital and told the doctors that Chen Shiwen had asked him to tell them how to treat the patient with the strange illness, they would likely think he was crazy!

"Don't hesitate. The patient's condition is really critical. Only you can save her now! The longer you delay, the closer she gets to death. Don't worry, I'll guide you, and you will definitely succeed in treating her!" Chen Shiwen urged while trying to boost Lin Yang's confidence.

"You're really putting me in a difficult position..." After a long sigh, Lin Yang made his decision: "As the saying goes, saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda. I can only do this with a stiff upper lip. But rest assured, I will do my best!"

Seeing that Lin Yang had agreed to help, Chen Shiwen was delighted and quickly urged: "Human lives are at stake; the sooner we treat the patient, the better. Let's get started."

"Alright." Lin Yang nodded and asked: "Where is the patient you mentioned?"

"She is in the intensive care unit of the hematology department. But we need to get you a doctor's outfit first. With your current appearance, the patient's family will definitely be suspicious and won't let you treat the patient." Chen Shiwen said this while leading him to the nearby doctor's office.

Upon reaching the doctor's office, Chen Shiwen went in to scout first. After confirming that no one was inside, he came out and called Lin Yang: "The doctors are all on rounds. Come in quickly. Do you see the table on the left? There's a key in its drawer. Use it to open the cabinet in the corner."

Lin Yang followed his instructions.

After opening the cabinet in the corner, he not only found a white coat but also a name badge.

These items belonged to a doctor who was currently on leave.

Lin Yang quickly put on the white coat but hesitated over the name badge.

The photo on the badge was of a woman, and anyone with a keen eye would immediately notice something was wrong.

After a brief consideration, Lin Yang came up with a solution—he pinned the badge inside the white coat, only exposing the part without the photo.

Although this was against hospital regulations, it was the best he could do in a hurry.

After he finished, Chen Shiwen looked him over and, while satisfied, felt a bit regretful: "Not bad, you really look the part in the white coat, just a bit young. As the saying goes, 'old doctors, young tailors.' In most people's eyes, a doctor's skill is proportional to their age. I hope the patient's family doesn't think this way, otherwise, we might have to spend more time and effort convincing them..."

Hearing this, Lin Yang had a thought.

He suddenly remembered that in the jade slip left by Lu Wenqi, there was a basic-level spell called "Leaf Concealment," which could be useful in this situation.

Although the disturbance from the "Dongyue Huangquan Scripture" prevented him from practicing, he was still a person who had tempered his body and soul and had invoked the Nine Heavens Dragon Roar, so he still had a faint thread of soul energy within him.

This thread of soul energy was very weak and could not support most basic-level spells, but the Leaf Concealment spell was an exception.

In a sense, the Leaf Concealment spell was more of an illusion than a spell. Therefore, it required very little soul energy, and even Lin Yang, who had not yet mastered cultivation, could勉强尝试一下。
