○ Basic Means of Transportation in This Work, Starting with Spaceships

The cruising speed of a spaceship navigating through space, which is the speed at which fuel consumption efficiency is optimal and is used for regular travel (similar to the cruising speed of aircraft, ships, and vehicles), is 1.08 billion km per hour.

In other words, it travels at the speed of light.

This is referred to as 1 light speed (1c).

Of course, the speed can vary depending on the ship's performance, but the maximum is twice that, or 2.16 billion km per hour.

The spaceships in this work cannot perform solo jumps.

Instead, there are 'Gates.'

These are known as wormhole jumps.

By utilizing 'quantum singularities,' which are spatial wormholes in space, one can instantly travel to a distant location, typically tens to hundreds of light-years away in this work.

The entrance can only be used as an entrance, and the exit can only be used as an exit, making it a one-way passage.

These cannot be artificially created; they are managed and regulated after naturally occurring.

Therefore, when a new 'Gate' is discovered, it must be purchased by the state.

If the 'Gate' is useful, a substantial reward will be paid.

○ Classification of Civilian Ships, Transport Ships, and Work Ships by Cargo Capacity

- Super-small ships: 100 tons or less

- Small ships: 100 to 1,000 tons

- Medium ships: 1,001 to 10,000 tons

- Large ships: 10,001 to 100,000 tons

- Super-large ships: over 100,000 tons

* Since the cargo capacity of current cargo ships is incredibly high, I referred to cars and aircraft and allowed for a range in cargo capacity.

I haven't thought of any measures to counteract G-forces during acceleration yet.

○ Types of Combat Boats

- General-purpose boats: designed for long-term operations, equipped with toilets, cooking facilities, beds, showers, etc.

- Specialized boats: focused solely on combat operations.

Mercenaries typically use general-purpose boats, while the military and police use specialized boats.

There is almost no difference in performance, but general-purpose boats are slightly heavier.

○ Galactic Empire

- It controls 70% of the known space where humans can live, with one-third of that territory acquired through invasion.

- The current emperor is the 38th Empress, Her Majesty Armilia Flannodol Ouvors.

○ Kingdom of Nekirelma

- A neighboring country of the Empire, it initiated a war 100 years ago and, when it was about to lose, offered part of its territory to avoid colonization.

- The nobility holds as much power as the nobility did in the past Empire.

○ Rough Outline Before Revisions by the Previous and Current Emperors

Legal Aspects

- The preamble of the Imperial Constitution states that all must abide by the laws set by the Emperor and act fairly and justly.

- However, nobles are generally allowed to commit certain illegal acts (unauthorized possession of firearms, cutting in line, unpaid consumption, theft, robbery, extortion, kidnapping, murder, etc.) against non-nobles (commoners, colonists).

- In cases involving nobles, strict investigations and trials are conducted, but judgments often favor those with higher ranks.

Taxation

- Consumption taxes (sales tax, tariffs, alcohol, tobacco, vehicles, etc.) are included in prices, so nobles, commoners, and colonists pay taxes automatically.

- Property taxes (inheritance tax, gift tax, real estate tax, etc.) are legal procedures and cannot be manipulated even by nobles.

- Income taxes (income tax, corporate tax, resident tax, etc.) vary based on income.

Commoners, colonists, and minor nobles pay 8-12%, while major nobles with territories pay 20-30%.

- However, the tax rate for territories is left to the discretion of the ruling noble.

Infrastructure

- Nobles generally use all transportation infrastructure for free and have priority in the order of Gate usage.

- Living infrastructure is prioritized for nobles.

○ Imperial Military Units

- Imperial Guard: The elite fleet directly under the Emperor.

- Imperial Household Guard: Bodyguards who directly protect the Emperor and his family.

- Planetary Defense Fleet: Defense units stationed on each planet, with command authority typically held by the planet's ruler.

They also have a private army aspect for ruling nobles.

- Capital Defense Force: The term used for the defense units of the imperial capital planet, Hein, among the planetary defense fleets.

- Central Fleet Combat Force: The main fleet of the Empire, active in various missions. It consists of 12 fleets, with the commander of the 1st Fleet serving as the overall commander of the Central Fleet.

It is also simply called the Central Fleet or the 1st-12th Fleet.

○ Mercenary Guild: An organization that manages a large number of mercenaries and primarily acts as an intermediary between them and clients.

- Rules, Regulations, and Basic Policies

- "The Guild does not interfere with the actions of mercenaries on the battlefield. Since they accept requests from both sides and dispatch mercenaries to both, there is no problem. If a mercenary betrays a client, it is the client's responsibility."

- "Infiltrating the enemy camp and leading allies to victory is a legitimate tactic. However, as a mercenary, it means betraying the first client, so the points for promotion are halved. The reward is received from the side they betrayed to."

- "Mercenaries must accept at least four requests involving combat (military conflicts between factions, pirate suppression, etc.) within a year. Requests that occur spontaneously are also counted. However, if there are no requests involving combat or spontaneous combat, this rule does not apply."

- "If a large and dangerous pirate group is discovered, do not attack recklessly to find their base. Instead, follow or report them. However, if attacked or encountered during a raid, this rule does not apply."

- Conditions for Taking the Test to Advance to the Bishop Rank

1. Must be of the Knight rank.

2. Must have completed at least 10 requests each for 'Combat,' 'Elimination,' 'Guard,' and 'Security.' Failures and invalid requests do not count.

- Request Rules and Types

- Request Rules: Requests are divided by rank, but in principle, any request can be accepted.

- However, if the receptionist deems it impossible based on the rank or individual's capabilities, it will not be accepted.

- The Guild does not take responsibility if a mercenary dies while on a high-rank request.

- Request Types:

- 'Combat': Conflicts between nobles, battles with foreign forces or rebels.

- 'Elimination': Capture or elimination of criminals, pirates, terrorists, etc.

- 'Guard': Ensuring safety during interplanetary travel or personal protection within a contract period.

- 'Security': Assisting in the operation and ensuring the safety of a location or building within a contract period.

- 'Other': Requests that do not fit the above categories.

- Mercenary Ranks: Ranks are determined by contributions. Therefore, even if a new member is very strong, they start at the Soldier rank.

- King Rank: Black card. The highest-ranking mercenaries. Upon reaching this rank, they automatically belong to the main guild headquarters in the capital, Hein.

- Queen Rank: Red card. Top rank in each branch.

- Bishop Rank: White card. Ace rank in each branch. To advance, one must meet the conditions for the test and pass it.

- Knight Rank: Blue card. The rank at which a mercenary is recognized as a full-fledged professional. Up to this rank, promotions are based solely on contributions to the guild.

- Castle Rank: Yellow card. Still considered a junior.

- Infantry Rank: Green card. New members who have just joined the guild.

○ Support Shorts

- For men, they are regular boxer shorts. For women, they look like regular panties but are used to manage urinary needs during long combat operations and incontinence during fainting. They are also used in space for work, for those with physical disabilities due to injuries or illness, and for patients recovering from surgery who cannot easily use the restroom.

○ Milein General Hospital

- The current director, Masajissa Carmestos, is the fifth-generation director. The hospital's name, Milein, comes from the surname of the first director, Eilzaar Milein.

- Located on an artificial island in the center of Shorlock Bay in the capital city of Itsis on the planet Its, the hospital covers a total area of 140,000 square meters, with 20 floors above ground and 3 floors below.
