Chapter 10

The soul that had lost its true spirit was nothing more than a mass of pure energy; in just a few moments, Jiang Wei completely swallowed this mass of energy and began to absorb and assimilate it crazily.
"If I absorb it all, I can probably increase my strength by... one percent!" Jiang Wei estimated.
In the human world, a small white rabbit usually weighs only one or two pounds, which is a hundred times less than a human; in the ghost world, this disparity still exists.
Swallowing a small white rabbit only increases one's strength by one percent. To double one's strength, one would probably need to swallow over a hundred white rabbits; and to reach Meng Feiyun's level of strength, one would need to swallow at least five or six hundred white rabbits!
However, as the saying goes, "a cunning rabbit has three dens"; how easy is it to catch a white rabbit? Not to mention humans, even the wolves and tigers familiar with the mountain forests find it hard to catch a rabbit. Jiang Wei was lucky today to encounter this foolish rabbit that had run into a tree, thus picking it up for free.
"Relying on devouring other ghosts to increase one's strength is indeed not an easy task!"
Jiang Wei was very clear that weaker ghosts would definitely run away as soon as they saw him; only stronger ghosts would not flee. However, if he encountered a stronger ghost, it would be uncertain who would end up eating whom!
Thus, Jiang Wei pondered while digesting.
Suddenly, Jiang Wei noticed an anomaly in his chest—the energy he had digested was mostly flowing to the Five Ghost Talisman on his chest; only a small portion was truly absorbed by him.
"Damn!" Jiang Wei jumped up in a panic, "What kind of rogue talisman is this, actually competing with me for food!"
In the ghost world, is it easy to eat a rabbit? Many ghosts never get the chance to eat a rabbit in their entire lives!
They say, "a cooked duck flies away," and now, Jiang Wei's "rabbit in the stomach was snatched away"; how could he possibly accept this situation!
"Hey—" Jiang Wei struggled fiercely to compete for the energy with the rogue talisman.
After all, Jiang Wei's body was his territory, his home ground; with his effort, he did manage to reclaim a significant amount of energy. However, without the necessary skills, one wouldn't dare to challenge Liangshan; this Five Ghost Talisman, though merely a "tenant" living in Jiang Wei's body, repeatedly took the lead and also struggled fiercely to compete with Jiang Wei.
Thus, a tug-of-war ensued between the two; in the end, Jiang Wei tragically discovered that he had only managed to reclaim thirty percent of the energy, while the rogue talisman had swallowed the rest.
"Damn!" Jiang Wei was speechless—such a thing could happen!
It was fortunate that Jiang Wei noticed this in time; otherwise, the energy truly absorbed by Jiang Wei might not even have reached ten percent!
At this moment, what Jiang Wei most wanted to do was to drive this rogue talisman out of his body. However, the rogue talisman had already deeply rooted itself in Jiang Wei's soul; Jiang Wei had no doubt that even if he tore a piece of his soul, the talisman would still cling on stubbornly.
Jiang Wei did not want to easily experience the pain of tearing his soul.
Just then, Jiang Wei felt a slight tremor in the ground beneath his feet.
"What's going on, do we have earthquakes in the ghost world?"
Soon, Jiang Wei realized that this was not an earthquake but the vibrations caused by a large army marching in the distance.
Jiang Wei pressed his ear to the ground and listened carefully; this simple "ground listening" technique was one of the basic skills he had learned in the Wuxiang Sect.
Upon careful listening, Jiang Wei determined that the vibrations were coming from the direction where the hundreds of thousands of ghost soldiers from the Original Sin City were marching.
"Could something have happened there?" Jiang Wei was hesitating whether to go and check it out when he was stunned by the scene that unfolded before his eyes, "This... this..."
Jiang Wei was horrified to see a vast sea of rabbits surging towards his location, their numbers so great that they seemed endless.
"Damn, so many rabbits!" These rabbits might have been frightened by the distant earthquake and were running for their lives; in Jiang Wei's eyes, they were now nothing but a sea of "experience packages"!
Jiang Wei wished he could immediately rush forward and slaughter them, which would allow him to "level up" rapidly; however, he restrained this impulse.
They say, "a cornered rabbit will bite," and with such a vast number of rabbits, if he really provoked them and was surrounded, it would truly be a case of "rejoicing leading to sorrow"!
Thinking of this, Jiang Wei hid behind a tree to avoid being trampled by the frenzied rabbits.
Leaning against the tree, watching the rabbits surge past on both sides, Jiang Wei drooled—so many rabbits, if they all entered his stomach, his strength...
Of course, Jiang Wei also understood that this was just a dream; with so many rabbits, he did not dare to provoke them. He could only hope that a few more rabbits would run into the tree, allowing him another feast.
However, foolish rabbits were a minority among rabbits, just as 2B youths were a minority among humans. Jiang Wei watched for a long time and waited for a long time, but no more rabbits ran into the tree.
Jiang Wei now felt as if he were watching silver bills fly by in the sky but dared not reach out to pick them up; the pain and struggle in his heart were unimaginable!
As he waited, Jiang Wei finally lost his patience—waiting any longer, the rabbits would probably all be gone!
"No, fortune favors the bold; I must catch a few rabbits!" Jiang Wei gritted his teeth, "Besides, I am a seven-foot-tall man; how could I be afraid of a bunch of rabbits!"
Thinking of this, Jiang Wei's courage grew, and he thrust his long spear out in a very sneaky manner.
This thrust was extremely simple and unadorned, but the rabbits, who were desperately fleeing, never expected that a long spear would suddenly emerge from behind this unremarkable tree. Taken by surprise, two rabbits were immediately impaled by the spear, and several others, unable to avoid it, collided with the spear shaft and were stunned.
Rabbits are generally timid; in the human world, Jiang Wei had heard of rabbits being so frightened by a shock that they couldn't eat and eventually starved to death.
The two rabbits impaled by the spear, feeling the threat to their lives, were immediately frightened to "merge their horns and fall into the cycle of rebirth"; the other dozen or so rabbits, after a brief moment of confusion, fled even faster, not daring to look back or investigate the sudden appearance of the spear.
"Um, this seems too easy..." Jiang Wei was somewhat disbelieving, and without hesitation, he swallowed the two soulless rabbits impaled on the spear.
