Chapter 98

Two massive horns rose up on either side.

A pair of dark red wings stretched out straight from his back.

His skin glowed with a flame that seemed capable of burning even the soul.

Yun Shinun, the reincarnated version of his previous life, saw that the appearance of Balor, who had descended, was exactly the same as what he had seen in the data book from his previous life.

Rumble! Boom!

Just then, the pavilion, unable to withstand Balor's enormous size, began to collapse.

Crash!

Yun Shinun quickly led all his summoned creatures out to safety.

-Roar!

Balor, spewing out his anger, chased after Yun Shinun.

However, because his massive body was almost stuck in the pavilion, Yun Shinun managed to evade his grasp without much difficulty.

Balor seemed to have lost his mind, leaving only his rage and the instinct to destroy.

Roar! Boom!

In the end, the pavilion completely collapsed, and dust rose like smoke.

Even through the dust, Yun Shinun could clearly see the outline of Balor, and he clicked his tongue.

'An Eighth Calamity... I've faced similar foes before, but... Balor is the one I fought in my previous life.'

Unfortunately, Yun Shinun had no direct combat experience with Balor, unlike the enemies he had faced before. The times when the Eighth Calamities descended varied, which was why he had never directly confronted Balor.

Without direct experience, he had no specific strategies other than what he had read in books.

Balor was not an enemy with special skills.

His defining characteristics were his extreme magic resistance, defense, and an overwhelmingly powerful attack.

In the previous generation, when they faced Balor, all the hunters specialized in close combat from various countries joined forces.

However, Yun Shinun was not afraid at all.

To him, Balor was just one of the many battles he had won, risking his life countless times.

'The extreme fire that burns everything, the powerful close combat ability that destroys everything it touches, and the Flame Breath.'

He quickly etched these points to be cautious in his mind.

Just then,

Whoosh!

Rumble!

Balor, burning away all the debris that touched his body, began to move towards Yun Shinun.

The ground shook as if an earthquake had occurred every time Balor moved.

-Grrr! I will... kill you.

The moment Balor unleashed a fierce killing intent towards Yun Shinun,

Crash!

Two of the supreme skeletons, who had been forming a defensive barrier around Yun Shinun, charged forward.

Leaping high into the air, they swung their glowing swords at Balor.

However,

Clang!

Their attacks did not even scratch Balor.

Their swords, which could cut through massive rocks, failed to leave even a small wound on Balor's skin.

Moreover,

Roar!

Whoosh!

The price of their failed attack was enormous.

The flames that had been burning on Balor's body spread through their swords and engulfed the skeletons.

-...!

-Burn...!

The two skeletons were completely incinerated, leaving no trace behind.

Without any counterattack from the enemy, such a result was shocking.

Yun Shinun was also taken aback by the gruesome scene.

Whoosh!

Swish!

More summoning circles began to form on the ground.

'I need to unleash all my power.'

Including Biyu, the Basilisk, Vampire Lord, Dryad Queen, and Lycanthrope, he summoned all his creatures up to his limit.

-Kee!

-Grrr!

Facing Balor, numerous summoned creatures gathered their strength to protect their master, roaring fiercely.

'Ugh!'

Suddenly, for some reason, Yun Shinun swallowed a small groan.

A massive amount of dark mana drained from his body, causing him to feel the pain of overexertion.

However, Yun Shinun had no intention of stopping.

"Divine Resistance!"

Using even more dark mana beyond his limits, he cast a skill on all his summoned creatures to enable them to fight Balor.

Divine Resistance was a skill that maximized the resistance to a specific attribute for himself or another target.

Naturally, Yun Shinun increased their resistance to fire.

As the skill activated, a red aura emanated from Yun Shinun's body and enveloped all his summoned creatures.

"Go!"

At the same time, Yun Shinun ordered all his summoned creatures to launch a full attack.

As the summoned creatures advanced, Yulrang looked at Yun Shinun with a worried expression, as if a grandfather watching his grandson.

'I'm fine, old man.'

Despite his pale face, Yun Shinun nodded slightly to indicate that he was okay.

Yulrang, gripping his sword with a clear blade, charged at the enemy.

-Roar!

Boom! Boom!

With a massive explosion, the final battle began.

Fortunately, thanks to the effect of Divine Resistance, the summoned creatures did not catch fire when they came into contact with Balor.

While they still suffered damage from the extreme heat, it was manageable.

The summoned creatures, without waiting for Yun Shinun's orders, worked together to fight Balor.

Like the brave hunters from his previous life, the supreme skeletons rode the Basilisk and fought.

The Vampire Lord and Lycanthrope, despite being natural enemies, fought side by side.

The Dryad Queen infused her vine blades with Biyu's scorching power to attack Balor.

However, the three Fire Spirit Skeletons played the most significant role.

Cheonpunggai, Nawayeomsun, and Yulrang took advantage of the openings created by the other summoned creatures, thrusting their powerful blades into Balor.

As the battle continued, Balor's body began to show large and small wounds.

Crash!

Just then, Yun Shinun darted forward like a flash of lightning. In his hand, a dark greatsword appeared.

Drawing out the Yonjokkyeom, Yun Shinun closed the distance in an instant.

"Poisonous Blood of the Divine!"

As Yun Shinun used his power, the scythe blade of the Yonjokkyeom turned a deep crimson, like blood.

He leaped into the air, propelled by the pavilion.

The scythe blade, surrounded by a terrifying poison, cut deeply into Balor's chest.

Swish! Squeak!

-Roar!

Blood gushed from the massive wound on Balor's chest, mixed with the poison from the Poisonous Blood of the Divine, turning black.

Seeing Balor convulse in pain, Yun Shinun's face brightened.

'Good, if this continues, we have a chance to win.'

Just as he was thinking this,

Balor's eyes turned a deep red.

Yun Shinun felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

-Roar!

Balor let out a roar that shook the heavens and the earth. It was not just a simple cry.

Boom!

A shockwave, like a bomb exploding, swept through the area.

'Shield Barrier!'

Yun Shinun hastily cast a protective barrier on himself and his summoned creatures.

However, many of them were caught in the blast.

Boom! Boom!

Another series of explosions followed.

The summoned creatures, unable to withstand the massive dark energy in the shockwave, exploded, leaving no trace of their forms.

After the shockwave subsided, Yun Shinun's face twisted in frustration.

'Damn!'

The damage was significant.

Half of the supreme skeletons were destroyed, and the Basilisk and Lycanthrope were also severely damaged.

Worse, the Fire Spirit Skeletons were also injured.

One of Cheonpunggai's legs was missing, and Nawayeomsun's arm had been reduced to dust.

Yulrang was the only one who remained unscathed.

Truly, the power of the Executioner of Souls was terrifying.

-Grrr!

Balor, seeing his enemies in tatters, let out a fierce roar.

For the first time, Yun Shinun realized that his initial assessment was wrong.

'Undoubtedly, this Balor is stronger than the Eighth Calamity I faced in my previous life. Is this the complete form of a human and monster fusion?'

The Eight Spirits Lords were using power beyond that of a mere monster.

An unknown, mysterious energy flowed from Balor's body, a force that seemed to be the very embodiment of chaos, completely opposite to the natural forces.

The tide of the battle had completely turned.

Boom! Boom!

Balor's relentless attacks continued, and the summoned creatures, already battered, were being continuously recalled.

Yun Shinun, having allowed Balor's attacks a few times, was now covered in blood.

Despite the grim outlook,

'I will fight to the end, no matter what.'

He faced Balor without any hint of giving up.

Just then,

Numerous system messages suddenly appeared before Yun Shinun's eyes.

[Hidden Condition 'Unbreakable Will' has been met.]

[Hidden Quest 'Chaser of Chaos' information has been updated.]

[Hidden Quest 'Chaser of Chaos' has been rated as EX.]

[Hidden Quest 'Chaser of Chaos' completion condition has been changed to 'Defeat the Reincarnated Eighth Calamity and ?'.]

[The title 'Chaser of Chaos' has been automatically equipped.]

'What is this?'

The content of the hidden quest he had obtained when his mind merged with Gang Tae-ha had been updated.

The question mark had been replaced, the rating was now the unprecedented EX, and the completion condition had changed to defeating the Eighth Calamity and an unknown entity.

[The effect of the title 'Chaser of Chaos' is activated.]

[Within 24 hours, all damage from battle will be restored once.]

[All abilities increase by 200% when fighting 'Chaos'.]

[The power of '...' has awakened within the Awakened One's body.]

[The Awakened One's abilities have significantly decreased.]

[The will of '...' is forcibly guiding the Awakened One.]

'Ugh!'

The moment the last system message appeared, Yun Shinun felt his mind turn blank.

An unknown power surged through his body, bringing immense strength, but at the same time, he lost control over his body and mind.

If he let go of his will for even a moment, he would disappear completely.

Yun Shinun gritted his teeth and held on.

'Even a god cannot control me as they please.'

He poured out his fierce anger.

Dark mana and Donghwasun's energy.

Lei Yunshen's power and the natural forces.

Yun Shinun gathered all the power he had accumulated and resisted the overwhelming force.

The power that had invaded his body was taken aback by the extreme resistance.

Balor, noticing the sudden change in Yun Shinun's aura, showed visible signs of confusion.

-Roar!

Balor, in a mad frenzy, charged at Yun Shinun and delivered a powerful punch.

Boom! Bang!

But Yulrang, who had rushed to his side, barely managed to block the attack.

Balor continued to swing his fists, but Yulrang, despite his bones shattering, did not back down.

Finally,

[The player has completely absorbed the power of '...'.]

[The will of '...' is visibly confused.]

[The Yonjokkyeom has absorbed part of the power of '...'.]

[The Yonjokkyeom has evolved to SS+ rank.]

Boom! Roar!

After winning the internal battle, Yun Shinun, now overflowing with a golden aura, opened his eyes.
