Chapter 40 of 100
Chapter 40
3 min read689 words
I'm insomnia-stricken again.
After tossing and turning for hours, I decided to chat with everyone about something.
This should be the first single chapter of "The Naming of the Night."
This is the first time I've tried writing a story with a protagonist from a dysfunctional family.
During the interview, I said there's a bit of personal experience in it, but I'm not as brave as Qingchen.
What Qingchen is doing now is more of what I want to do but haven't dared to.
So, I often say that when you read a novel, don't connect the author with the story.
A novel is a novel, and the author is the author.
Like me, I'm just hiding behind a computer to tell you a story.
I once thought about reporting my father, but I didn't.
I once thought about leaving my hometown, but I didn't.
I was even cheated out of money by him two years ago.
It wasn't until last year that I finally mustered the courage.
My only advice to you is to stay away from gamblers.
You don't need to say comforting words in the comments; I'm not sad about it now, and I don't have much emotional fluctuation.
…
The reason I wrote this book, this theme,
is because I found it very interesting.
A group of people collectively transported to another world, each person's identity changes—children become princesses, rich young masters become part of the underclass. The tension in the plot brought about by these changes in human nature makes me happy when I think about what I'll write in the future.
I do have a strong desire to tell this story. I like Qingchen, and I like this story.
So, rather than calling it a cyberpunk genre, I prefer to call it a group-transport genre.
Cyberpunk is just the form it takes; the true core is the stories between people.
A person's desire to tell a story is limited, and I've noticed an impulse to leave this industry.
Long-term writing has given me a lot of health issues, and there will come a day when I can't handle it anymore.
During the writing process, I can't sleep if I close my eyes and think about the plot, and I have to get up to revise the content.
I'm not sure how many more stories I'll write. After a few more, I might take a break and come back.
Who knows?
The most important thing is to cherish the present.
…
The First Sequence has been a bit lazy throughout the book, and I haven't updated it properly, taking a few breaks. (Of course, even with breaks, The First Sequence is still an incredibly awesome story.)
This book won't be like that. Unless I'm sick, I'll stick with it.
My enthusiasm for writing now is like it was during the King era; I can motivate myself every minute.
Of course, I still need to prepare you. The update speed will definitely slow down near the end because it will be very difficult then.
…
This book won't have an official version.
Because it's a labor of love, I really don't want to wake up one day and see a 404 error on the novel page.
I don't want it to be shut down due to uncontrollable factors.
So, I'm reiterating: this book won't have an official version, it won't have an official version.
At most, there will be an organization like Kunlun.
Don't have too many doubts; it's just my survival instinct…
So, if you can understand, please help me explain if anyone questions it.
…
Actually, I'm already feeling a bit emotional after writing just 90,000 words of this book.
I unexpectedly entered the monthly ticket ranking, and many old friends suddenly returned.
When those familiar old friends appear, you feel like you're back in the days when you fought alongside everyone and battled for the rankings.
It's truly exhilarating.
That's all I have to say.
I'll do my best to write a good story.
The rest,
time will give me the answer.
