Using "clean and beautiful" to describe a lich is a rather peculiar description. How could a lich possibly be clean? Unable to touch water, they can only be wiped dry, making it very difficult to thoroughly remove stains.
Being beautiful is even harder. With the loss of moisture, the skin loses its elasticity, causing wrinkles to form, so normal liches look like 120-year-old elders, with faces full of wrinkles.
But this female lich had smooth skin with no obvious wrinkles, only at the joints like the neck and elbows were there any folds, making her look like an overly dieted... corpse.
Of course, this was all the brass dragon's perception. Ang didn't have any concept of "clean and beautiful." He only saw the thick soul flame of the female lich and the clean finger of Phyllin.
Looking at Phyllin in confusion, Ang asked, "Who is she?"
Phyllin's face showed an awkward yet polite, uneasy, and very helpless expression as he replied, "This is my wife, Lisa. My lord, please forgive her. She is too excited. If possible, could you teach her the magic to purify my finger? I am willing to pay the corresponding price."
"Can I teach her?" Ang asked the brass dragon in his mind. The purification spell belonged to the brass dragon, so Ang thought he should ask the brass dragon.
"You can," Nigris said with a bit of mischief. "It's just a first-level holy light spell. Even if you teach her, she won't be able to use it. This is 'holy' light magic, which falls under the category of divine magic. Without the power of faith, it cannot be cast. Unless she can have a soul network or faith essence like you, she will have to borrow the power of a deity."
Teaching a spell or other knowledge to undead is incredibly simple. The problem isn't teaching, but the ability to receive. A regular skeleton, no matter how much knowledge you impart, will never learn magic.
Lisa's intelligence was certainly not a problem, and her magic level was high. A simple first-level spell, she would learn it in one go, but unfortunately, she couldn't use it.
"Why is this happening?" Lisa looked at her hands anxiously. She could feel that the spell had succeeded, the magic network circuit had been established, and she could feel it working, but there was no energy release.
"Faith, divine power," Ang repeated the brass dragon's words, not quite understanding their meaning.
But Lisa understood. She murmured these two words, her eyes gleaming with a sharp light. "My lord, may I ask your name?"
When Lisa asked this question, Phyllin's expression changed dramatically, and he instinctively wanted to cover her mouth.
Oh no, the Watcher might be a projection of a king. Now his wife was directly asking for the name of the other party. That would be like directly asking for the name of a deity. The Undead King is a being comparable to a deity, and this is too disrespectful.
"Ang," Ang didn't feel offended and answered casually, leaving Phyllin, who was about to pounce, stunned in place.
"Ang? In the name of Ang, grant me the power to purify decay and beautify my appearance. Purify Face!" Lisa said these words with an incredibly devout tone.
"???" Both Phyllin and Nigris had several big question marks in their minds. This was a purification spell, a divine spell to dispel filth and purify all things. What was "Purify Face"? Purify appearance?
Ang felt the symbol formed by Lisa's soul flame stirring in his soul.
With a thought, Ang immediately felt his power surge into that symbol. At the same time, Lisa's palm glowed with a holy light.
Nigris's eyes nearly popped out: "This works? You don't even have a divine rank, a pseudo-god. Why can she borrow your power?"
Nigris didn't understand, and neither did Ang. Regardless, his power could be directly transmitted through the symbol in his soul that belonged to Lisa.
Lisa looked at the holy light in her hand excitedly and couldn't wait to smear it on her arm.
Her arm was gray and bony, smooth but without elasticity or luster. It was only slightly better than a regular zombie lich, still falling into the category of "corpse."
When the holy light shone, the abnormalities in her skin became apparent. It turned out she had pulled the excess skin back and stuck it with glue or something, making it look smooth from the front.
However, such treatment required a lot of effort and couldn't withstand significant movement.
As the holy light passed over, the "gray" on her arm immediately peeled off, revealing the rosy hue of normal skin. Unlike the purification spell, Lisa's withered flesh actually became plump under the effect of the Purify Face spell, restoring its luster and elasticity.
Wherever the holy light passed, a white, fresh arm appeared.
Phyllin's eyes widened as he looked at Lisa's arm and then at his own peeled, claw-like fingers, finding it hard to believe.
The purification spell Ang cast only purified the "patina" on his fingers, without restoring the flesh. But the same spell, when cast by Lisa, could make the flesh fresh. What was the principle behind this?
Unlike Phyllin's confusion, Nigris saw the reason at a glance: "As expected of 'holy' light magic. The advantage of divine magic lies here. The same divine spell can have a myriad of effects because it is the power of will. This woman not only borrowed your power but also adjusted its effect. She has a deep understanding of divine magic and a very firm belief."
Ang didn't understand Nigris's words, what will and effect meant. He only knew that his power was being borrowed, and his magic was completely drained, but the symbol representing Lisa became clearer.
Lisa returned a thick soul flame, which didn't float from her body to Ang but emerged directly from the symbol.
This meant that even if they were not in the same plane, as long as the symbol existed, Ang could receive Lisa's soul flame.
Lisa was so excited that she trembled all over. Her right hand trembled as her fingertips lightly touched her left hand, which had become fresh and white. The skin indented and immediately bounced back to its original shape. This Q-elastic feeling, which she hadn't experienced for so many years, made her sob, though no tears flowed.
Phyllin could fully understand his wife's feelings. She used to be so beautiful, but she had been trapped in an ugly body for over a thousand years. If she hadn't been afraid of becoming a wraith or a more hideous corpse, she would have committed suicide long ago.
Now, she saw hope of restoring her original appearance. Just crying a little and recovering was already very impressive.
One Purify Face spell was enough to cover her fingers to her wrist. She hurriedly cast the spell again: "In the name of Ang..." and then wiped her face.
The plump face stretched the skin stuck to the back of her neck, restoring its luster and elasticity.
One Purify Face spell after another, Lisa became fresh from head to toe, completely renewed.
The second Purify Face spell only surprised Nigris, but by the fifth and sixth, he was so shocked he didn't know what to say: "Why can she borrow so much of your power? It's endless, like moss on the street? When my believers borrowed my power in the past, I had to rest for three to five days. Is it because your mental power is strong and recovers quickly?"
Maybe, Ang tilted his head. Every time Lisa cast the purification spell, Ang's magic was completely drained, but he had already gotten used to it when watering the fields. Each time his magic was drained, it would recover before the next spell was cast.
Lisa's casting frequency was far less than when he was watering, so there was no need to worry about not recovering in time. Moreover, each time she borrowed magic, a thick soul flame was returned, so Ang didn't lose anything.
Lisa, overjoyed, caressed her fresh skin for a while before calming down. She walked gracefully to Ang, placed her hands on her shoulders, and knelt down, saying, "Former Holy Maiden, Apostate Lisa August, pays homage to my lord."
