With humanity dead, Ang also found himself unable to return. The light membrane had turned into a magical leather accessory on his wrist, but he had no idea how to turn it back into the light membrane.

Ang didn’t have many thoughts about not being able to return. This place wasn’t much different from the Palace of Rest, equally desolate and lifeless. The only difference was that there were other skeletons here.

Not long after humanity died, a withered skeleton wandered over from a distance. It swayed forward, its hollow eye sockets fixed on the human corpse, as if something about the corpse was attracting it.

However, when it approached within about thirty meters, the withered skeleton suddenly stopped, tilting its head in confusion toward Ang’s direction. Its hollow eye sockets fell on Ang.

The soul fire in its eye sockets flickered, and the withered skeleton turned and wandered away at a faster speed.

Skeletons have different levels, and Ang’s level was much higher than that of the withered skeleton, which was directly scared away.

Thus, Ang stayed in place, and by the afternoon, he had scared away over a dozen withered and white skeletons. It was as if they had communicated and redefined their territories, and no more low-level skeletons wandered toward Ang.

Ang dug a pit and settled in temporarily, burying the food from the handcart in another pit.

It must be said that digging the pit was timely. In the evening, Ang noticed that the wandering skeletons in the distance began to dig pits and bury themselves, and then the wind started.

The wind was the Wind of Rest.

The Wind of Rest is the source of all life in the land of death. It brings life to the corpses, bones, and soul fragments scattered everywhere, nurturing them into skeletons, necromancers, and undead. However, if it is disrespected, it will mercilessly destroy everything.

As an undead creature, prolonged exposure to the Wind of Rest will gradually solidify, dry out, and eventually extinguish the soul, even the most powerful Gold Skeleton Lich King is no exception. The only difference is that they can last longer.

Ang lay in the sunken pit, listening to the howling of the Wind of Rest, his soul gradually calming down. The Wind of Rest has a soothing effect on the soul, and as long as it is not directly hit, it will not affect the soul.

Lying in the pit, Ang curiously extended a finger into the cold wind. The mist-like Wind of Rest swept over his finger, forming vortices, and his entire palm turned silvery white under the wind.

Under the wind, a cool sensation spread from his palm down to his soul fire, giving him a sense of soul expansion, which invigorated him.

For a skeleton like Ang, the best way to grow stronger is to devour the souls of others. However, he was a farming skeleton and didn’t need to strengthen his soul. Besides, the Palace of Rest now had only him, with no others to plunder.

However, growing stronger is an instinct of every soul. After trying it, Ang couldn’t stop and extended both hands.

By the next morning, the sky was just beginning to brighten, and the Wind of Rest had stopped.

Ang felt his soul had become more solid, though he didn’t know how much it had grown. However, his bones had changed significantly, with fewer pits and holes, and some larger holes had shrunk, while smaller ones were filled in, as if smoothed over with putty.

After a few more rounds of the wind, he might not need to replace his bones anymore, Ang thought to himself.

Climbing out of the pit, Ang found that the human corpse from yesterday was gone. Looking up, he saw it had been transformed into a zombie, swaying as it moved away.

Ang ran over and dragged it back. The little zombie was terrified, thinking Ang was going to eat it, and struggled.

Unfortunately, even withered and white skeletons were scared away by Ang, let alone a newly born little zombie. It was quickly stripped bare by Ang.

What was stripped off belonged to the human: a leather satchel, an empty water flask, a long sword, and inside the satchel, a map, a few silver coins, but nothing to identify him.

In other words, why this human came here and how he activated the teleportation array might forever remain a mystery. If Ang couldn’t figure out how to use the magical leather accessory, he might never return.

Ang looked at the smoother pits and holes on his bones, and it seemed... not being able to return wasn’t such a bad thing.

Because of the Wind of Rest, Ang settled down in this desolate wilderness, bathing in the Wind of Rest every day, continuously strengthening his soul.

The newly born little zombie gradually got used to Ang. At first, when Ang dragged it away, it was terrified, thinking it was going to be eaten. But after being stripped bare, Ang ignored it.

A lucky newly born little zombie wandered aimlessly until the Wind of Rest blew.

The newborn couldn’t withstand the fierce Wind of Rest and instinctively started digging a pit to hide in. But at its digging speed, its soul would likely be blown away before the pit was finished.

Fortunately, Ang’s pit wasn’t far away, and he dragged it into the pit despite the wind.

Ang was too powerful compared to the little zombie, and squatting in the same pit was intimidating, scaring it into crawling out. But as soon as its head emerged, the cold wind blew it back, and it ended up hugging its head and shivering at the edge of the pit.

Ang ignored it and extended his hand to guide the cool sensation. When the Wind of Rest stopped at dawn, the little zombie eagerly crawled out.

This time, the little zombie decided to stay far away from this terrifying place. But after walking about thirty meters, it was chased back by another wandering skeleton.

This thirty-meter radius had become Ang’s territory. The little zombie could stay inside without interference, but once it left this range, its newborn soul would be the most tender and delicious food, vulnerable to anyone.

After being chased by other skeletons a few times, the little zombie realized that other places were even more terrifying.

As evening approached and the Wind of Rest blew, the little zombie, unable to dig its own pit, timidly returned to Ang’s pit.

It kept its neck stiff, watching Ang. Seeing that Ang ignored it, it inched closer, and when Ang still ignored it, it inched closer again, eventually settling in the same corner as the previous night, hugging its head, but no longer shivering.

The next morning, it eagerly crawled out again, but by evening, it returned to the pit early, no longer hugging its head but curiously observing Ang, even trying to extend its palm out of the pit.

Of course, this rash action caused its soul to be harshly cleansed by the cold wind.
