Chapter 53

Ange happily applied holy light to the angel's skeleton, which was actually similar to planting vegetables. He planted the seeds, watched them grow, green and lush, day by day until they matured, and Ange felt very happy.

Now it's the same. When the holy light is applied to the skeleton, flesh and skin grow back, very similar to the joy of planting vegetables.

The angel's skeleton also benefits from this process. Although it becomes weak with each flash of holy light, it recovers and both its soul and bones grow stronger.

This is already the third time the angel's skeleton has used the holy light flash. Initially, it could only hold sixty purifications, then seventy, and now over eighty.

If this continues, it will be able to hold more and more energy. If Ange's purification spell hadn't been upgraded, just filling it with energy would be a hassle.

The only downside is that each flash of holy light consumes a lot. Eighty purifications are just for recharging; to restore the skeleton to an angel, it needs seven thousand purifications, and for the enhanced version, it needs two thousand, taking one or two days.

In other words, Ange now has to work hard for one or two days to unleash a single holy light flash. Such a time-consuming and energy-intensive skill can't be used casually.

As Ange was thinking, a roar startled him. He turned to see a heavily armored warrior breaking through the encirclement and charging over.

Lan's fireballs continuously hit the heavily armored warrior, but strangely, they extinguished immediately upon impact, without the usual lingering flames.

"There's something in his armor that suppresses elements!" Lan immediately concluded, warning the others loudly.

Element suppression refers to natural elements like wind, fire, lightning, water, earth, and light. In this situation, the first option is to switch to non-elemental magic, such as mental or arcane spells, or summoning spells.

The second option is to choose elemental magic that focuses on physical damage, like explosive fire or earth spikes.

The most aggressive approach, of course, is to use an overwhelming amount of elements to overwhelm the suppression. If fireballs can be suppressed, can meteor showers be suppressed?

After warning the others, Lan chose the second option. He held his staff horizontally, and fire elements rushed to his hands, quickly forming a translucent sphere.

As more fire elements gathered, the translucent sphere began to burn, but the burning was contained within the sphere. When it was about to burst, Lan pushed it out with force, sending the explosive fire toward the heavily armored warrior.

Under Lan's gaze, the explosive fire hit the heavily armored warrior and exploded violently.

The explosion, which could have sent a normal person flying, knocked the heavily armored warrior to the side, and he fell to the ground. But before Lan could celebrate, the heavily armored warrior got up and continued charging.

A series of shadow arrows and death breath arrows hit the enemy, but they caused no damage.

On the route of the heavily armored warrior, a patch of ground began to bubble. As he stepped on it, his entire body sank into the ground—quick sand.

To deal with such a "tin can," quick sand is the most effective restriction spell, but it requires a long preparation time to soften the entire ground.

The heavily armored warrior struggled in the quick sand, only sinking deeper.

At this moment, a second heavily armored warrior broke through the encirclement, stepping on his comrade and crossing the sand pit.

There was no time to set up quick sand again, so Phyllin commanded the skeletons to charge. Of the thousands of skeletons he controlled, 80% were sent to the front to attack the camp.

On the battlefield, using zombie skeletons as cannon fodder is the most reasonable strategy. They are fearless and painless, and can wear down the enemy. Even if Phyllin is a lich, he wouldn't have humans lead the charge in such a situation.

However, the skeletons couldn't stop the heavily armored warriors. Their weapons bounced off the armor. With a single swing, the heavily armored warrior could cut several skeletons in half.

"Roar!" The skeletons scattered as if they had received a command.

This roar wasn't from Phyllin but from the small zombie. As the skeletons moved aside, it charged from a distance and collided with the heavily armored warrior at high speed.

The small zombie is the fastest among all the liches and zombies Ange has seen. The faster it moves, the greater its kinetic energy, so its collision is like a cannonball.

Several times, the angel's skeleton has been knocked apart by it, and it had to be pieced back together by Ange.

The heavily armored warrior was knocked to the ground by the small zombie.

However, this left the small zombie without speed. As they both fell, the heavily armored warrior rolled over and pressed the small zombie down, dragging his sword and pressing it against the small zombie's neck.

With a snap, the small zombie's head rolled away.

"Roar!" Ange roared, his soul's flame bursting out of his skull, enveloping his head in flames, more furious than when Tullus burned his fields.

He clenched his hands and took a large step, the wind element pushing him like a cannonball toward the heavily armored warrior.

The heavily armored warrior stood up, indifferent to the surrounding enemies, and raised his foot to stomp on the small zombie's head. After being pushed by the small zombie, he clearly knew who posed a real threat.

Before his foot could land, he heard a whoosh. Turning around, he saw a skeleton leap to his head, holding a large scythe and swinging it at his neck.

The heavily armored warrior suddenly had a bad feeling and tried to dodge the scythe by pulling his neck back. Normally, he wouldn't bother to dodge, as few attacks could break his defense, and even if they did, they wouldn't be fatal, just minor injuries.

But facing the skeleton's scythe, his instinct strongly told him, danger!

However, Ange skillfully twisted the scythe, which shifted a few degrees and still cut across his neck.

The scythe, like a shadow, penetrated his neck, pulling out his soul. The heavily armored warrior, unharmed, fell straight down. No matter how thick the armor, it was useless against the scythe of death, which is not a physical attack.

Kicking the heavily armored warrior's corpse aside, Ange picked up the small zombie's head and mournfully roared.

He rarely felt sad, except when crops withered, but the sadness brought by the small zombie was several times stronger.

Just as he roared, the angel's skeleton patted him and pointed to the side. The small zombie's headless body was getting up, spreading its arms and spinning like a drunk.

Ange tilted his head, suddenly remembering that the lich's soul is in the heart, not the head, meaning the small zombie wasn't dead.

He had mourned in vain. Ange patted the small zombie's head in his arms and returned it.

Although the lich's soul isn't in the head, it still relies on the eyes to perceive the world. Without its head, it had to use the soul in its chest to observe, needing to readjust.

The small zombie picked up its head and tried to attach it to its neck, but it forgot that the head had been cut off with a smooth cut, making it impossible to secure.

Ange looked around, grabbed a skeleton of similar size, and replaced the neck joint, finally attaching the head.

The skeleton, now headless, silently opened and closed its jaw, as if protesting Ange's thievery.

With its head attached, the small zombie stopped spinning and pointed at the heavily armored warrior stuck in the quick sand, angrily roaring, "Roar!"

"Roar!" Ange responded, clenching his hands and charging toward the heavily armored warrior.
