Devil's Valley is a twelve-kilometer-long rift valley. The flat wilderness here has sunk, forming a narrow and elongated valley. On both sides, many buildings are built into the mountains, and some are even directly carved out as caves, with fences added in front of the caves for the slaves to live in.
However, now all the fences have been removed, and all the slaves have been freed, because the three leaders of Devil's Valley are all dead, and a once-in-a-millennium human Sword Saint has emerged from the Ice City.
In fact, the environment of Devil's Valley is the most advantageous. At the end of the rift valley lies the Abyssal Rift, a crack that almost splits the entire plane in half, extending all the way to where scorching lava erupts, forming a year-round lava river.
With the rift blocking the Resting Wind, Devil's Valley enjoys a spring-like climate all year round, with no seasonal changes, allowing crops to be planted twice a year.
Terraces cultivated along both sides of the rift provide ample farming area, but the only drawback is the steep terrain. People often slip and fall into the lava river below, burning to ashes.
Originally, adding some fences or ropes could have solved the problem, but there were no such things. Fences require wood, and ropes require hemp, both of which are scarce resources in this world, but slaves are not. They were just made to farm.
Slaves, in Devil's Valley, are worth nothing.
However, everything changed recently. A human Sword Saint infiltrated Devil's Valley, killed two of its leaders, and rumors spread that the third leader, Taurus, was also dead, as the demonic marks on the slaves branded by Taurus gradually disappeared.
Luther fled after the killings, but the leaderless Devil's Valley underwent a dramatic transformation.
The Lesser Demons, Lesser Lesser Demons, Flame Demons, and others, who originally wanted to continue enslaving others, were resisted by the human slaves. The humans threatened the demons: "I'll call the Sword Saint to cut you down."
Well, under the awe of the once-in-a-millennium human Sword Saint, the demons gave up their privilege of enslaving other races. All races now live in harmony. The land still needs to be farmed, but fences and ropes have been added, safety ropes are tied, and the caves where slaves live are no longer locked.
The succubus Jijige came to the pool with clothes, a look of happiness and contentment on her face.
Succubi are actually demons, but in Devil's Valley, their fate is tragic. They are categorized as slaves, deeply oppressed.
They are often abused and whipped, enduring hunger and starvation. Thanks to the succubi's strong constitution, Jijige survived and grew up. However, she owed a lot to a human slave, whom she called Boulder.
When she was hungry, Boulder secretly hid food for her. When she was sick, Boulder, despite his exhaustion from a day's labor, took care of her until she recovered.
As she grew older, Jijige blossomed into a beautiful young succubus. Recently, a demon took a fancy to her and was about to claim her as his own, only to discard her as a slave when he was done.
Fortunately, the powerful Sword Saint appeared, and Devil's Valley changed. All the slaves were freed. That night, Jijige dragged Boulder into her cave in front of everyone, declaring forcefully: "You are mine!"
The former human slave Boulder became the exclusive 'slave' of the succubus Jijige. Today is the sixty-ninth day of their mutual enslavement.
Jijige hummed her favorite tune, carefully washing the clothes. Last night, they tried a new position, getting closer to the final 'union.' Then she could bear a hybrid succubus with human traits for Boulder.
Succubi have a very special reproductive ability (here, six thousand words are omitted...).
A shadow flashed through the air, its gaze landing on her, then suddenly stopping: "A heretic?"
Jijige sensed something was wrong and looked up to see a winged angel in bright armor.
The angel hovered in the air, fists clenched, then slowly pulled apart, drawing a solid-looking light sword in his hand.
Jijige realized something was wrong and ran towards her cave. Her actions alarmed many people, who looked up at the sky.
The angel murmured softly: "Holy light, purify the shadows of the world; the sword of the Holy Spirit, destroy all heretics; in the name of light, judge!"
Light descended from the sky, and the sword slashed at the succubus.
"Don't!" A thin human rushed out of a nearby cave, spreading his arms to shield the succubus.
The sword struck the human, bursting into countless light points and disappearing, leaving the human unharmed.
The angel, landing on the ground, clenched his fists again, not looking at the human, and drew a new light sword, saying: "The Sword of Judgment does not kill humans, move aside."
The human, who thought he was doomed, was scared stiff. He felt himself and, hearing the angel's words, refused to move, firmly protecting the succubus behind him: "No, this is not a heretic, this is my wife."
"The demon is a heretic, please move aside," the angel said, expressionless.
The human Boulder bravely looked the angel in the eye, refusing to move.
The angel's hand flashed, grabbing Boulder's neck, and with a light twist, snapped his neck.
"Ah!" The succubus screamed in horror.
The angel swung his sword, striking the succubus. The Sword of Judgment, with its heretic-targeting damage, unleashed a holy flame that engulfed Jijige completely.
The angel spread his wings and flew towards another demon, with holy flames of judgment bursting in Devil's Valley from time to time.
In a distant crevice, two shadows whispered: "Are these battle birds crazy? They see heretics and go berserk, determined to kill them all. Have they forgotten their mission?"
"If they weren't like this, they wouldn't be called battle birds. Even succubi are killed, how can such a cute demon be a heretic?"
"Maybe they have no sense of aesthetics, no idea what 'cute' means."
The two shadows muttered, but the angel quickly killed all the demons in Devil's Valley. As for humans and other species, as long as they were not on the heretic list, the angel ignored them.
After eliminating all heretics, the angel flew into the sky and headed in a certain direction.
The two shadows quickly followed, emerging from the crevice. They transformed into human forms, their legs moving so fast they left afterimages, propelling them forward.
As they ran, the afterimages solidified into four legs, then six legs, the distance between the legs growing, the front and back pairs extending longer, lifting the Black Warrior off the ground.
Then, a horse's head with red eyes emerged from between their legs, transforming into a horse that carried them swiftly in pursuit of the angel.
These were not Black Warriors but more powerful Black Knights.
Like two black smoke trails, they left no dust in their wake, trailing the flying angel from a distance.
As they ran, the sky grew darker, and the wind picked up.
The two Black Knights said in unison: "Trouble, the damn battle bird wasted time. Otherwise, we would have already reached the world's transit station."
"What should we do?"
"Hide for a while. We undead fear the Resting Wind the most. It makes us shiver. Liches are a bit better, able to endure for a while."
Black Warriors and Black Knights are artificial undead beings. They were originally incorporeal spirits.
If they were mages in life, becoming undead had little effect. But if they were warriors, they lost their physical attack capabilities, rendering their martial skills useless.
To utilize their skills from life, the necromancers of the Undead Empire developed a transformation technique to convert incorporeal spirits into semi-corporeal Black Warriors. From there, condensing a warhorse would turn them into Black Knights.
The warhorse of a Black Knight is essentially an extension of the Black Warrior's form. The size of the form reflects the strength of the soul. A Black Knight with a larger warhorse has a much stronger soul than a Black Warrior.
However, whether Black Knights or Black Warriors, their essence is still a spirit, making them vulnerable to the Resting Wind, which directly targets the soul. Unlike liches, who have flesh to provide some resistance.
With a puff, the warhorse turned into smoke and retracted into their bodies, followed by their bodies gradually disintegrating into smoke, which seeped into the ground. As formless beings, Black Knights don't need to dig holes.
At that moment, a holy light ignited in the direction of the angel.
"Is that battle bird resisting the Resting Wind?" the Black Knight asked in surprise.
An hour passed, and the Black Knight peeked out. The holy light was still shining, though it had moved from the sky to the ground.
"Come and look, that battle bird is really resisting the Resting Wind. Is it crazy?" the Black Knight said in shock.
"Really? That's the Resting Wind. It should dig a hole."
After a few more glances, the Black Knight couldn't bear it and retreated.
Another hour passed, and the two Black Knights couldn't resist peeking again. The holy light was still shining brightly, like a torch in a foggy sea.
The Black Knight said admiringly: "Two hours, truly powerful. No wonder it's a battle angel."
By the third hour, the holy light was still there, and the Black Knight no longer believed it was just strength: "The angel must have some special ability to resist the Resting Wind."
By the fourth hour: "Really lasted this long? Can it last the whole night? If so, the Resting Wind would be meaningless to angels."
By the fifth hour, the holy light disappeared.
The two Black Knights felt a mix of relief and disappointment, sighing: "Finally couldn't hold on. It must have dug a hole to hide."
"Yeah, yeah, it couldn't hold on. No one can."
The Black Knights spent the next few hours in anxious anticipation. As soon as the wind stopped, they rushed towards the angel to confirm the situation.
In the distance, they saw a kneeling skeleton with delicate, crystalline bones, unlike a human's. Two bone wings drooped behind it.
Its hands were in a sword-gripping position, as if it had used a sword to support itself, kneeling on one knee, and wrapped itself in its wings.
Unfortunately, after death, the flesh had been eroded by the Resting Wind, leaving only the skeleton intact. Ordinary corpses would not be eroded but would become more resilient.
The two Black Knights were stunned: "It didn't dig a hole. It resisted until it died. Is it a stubborn spirit?"
They had never expected such a situation and were at a loss. They quickly pulled out their equipment to contact their superior: "Boss, no, High Bishop, what should we do?"
A long silence, then the voice of High Bishop Anthony, muffled and depressed: "The highest mobilization order has been issued. I can't spare anyone. The losses at Leonard's side are already troublesome. Losing another Holy Spirit would be hard to explain. Just bring the holy remains back."
After a moment of silence, he couldn't help but roar: "I sent it to quickly solve the problem, not to resist the Resting Wind. Is it a fool? It's dumber than a skeleton!!"
Such a rare occurrence that even the High Bishop lost his composure. The two Black Knights quickly turned off the planar communication array, unable to bear the roar.
As they prepared to collect the angel's bones, the sound of hooves approached.
Looking up, they saw a horse galloping past them, carrying an angel, a lich, a skeleton, and a bronze dragon hatchling, all tilting their heads curiously at the Black Knights.
A thought crossed the Black Knights' minds: "Is this overloaded?"
