Chapter 88: Shen Bingqing's Anger

Lu Hongguang, busy with official duties, left after seeing that there was nothing much to do on Du Long's side, leaving a trusted subordinate to accompany Du Long. Du Long didn't know what to do next, so he called Ma Guangming for instructions. Ma Guangming said that the forensic examination had already yielded results, almost identical to Du Long's report. Ma Guangming mentioned that the three bullets extracted from the body had been sent to Yuming City, and now everything in Wuxi County was gradually returning to normal. There was nothing for Du Long to do, so he was told to stay in Yuming City to rest. Du Long planned to go home, take a shower, and have a good sleep.

While waiting for the elevator to go downstairs, the elevator arrived. The doors opened, and Meng Hao and Shen Bingqing stepped out. All three were taken aback when they saw each other. Meng Hao quickly asked, "Du Long, where have you been these past two days? Captain Huang said you were on leave at home, and we even talked about visiting you. Why are you dressed like this?"

Du Long said, "I plan to go home and rest. You guys are busy. If you can't solve the case, come find me. I probably won't be back to work for a few more days."

"Meng Ge, I have something to say to Du Long. You go ahead," Shen Bingqing handed the items in his hand to Meng Hao and stayed behind, staring coldly at Du Long. The elevator had already gone down, and Du Long looked at Shen Bingqing curiously, asking, "What's wrong with you? You look like you've been eating gunpowder all day."

Shen Bingqing spat out each word, "Despicable scoundrel!"

Du Long frowned and said, "What are you talking about? What have I done to offend you? I was planning to return the files on the hard drive to you, wasn't I?"

Shen Bingqing gritted his teeth and said, "It's not about that. I've been late almost every day recently. Do you know why?"

Du Long was puzzled and said, "What does my being late have to do with me? How would I know why you're late?"

Shen Bingqing angrily said, "You're still trying to deny it! These past few days, my tire valves have been pulled out, my seat has been stolen, and yesterday, even my brakes were tampered with using pliers. I've been fixing my bike every day, and the repairman has become familiar with me. Last night, I hid in the flower bed for half the night and finally caught two thieves. Guess what? They confessed that you had instructed them to do it!"

Du Long understood. He hadn't expected the Viper's subordinates to be so persistent, causing Shen Bingqing so much trouble. He had long forgotten about the matter, but others still remembered. Looking at the angry Shen Bingqing, Du Long suddenly chuckled.

"You still have the nerve to laugh," Shen Bingqing said angrily. Du Long smiled and said, "Do you really think I did that? Do I have such low tastes? Since I joined the criminal investigation team, I've long forgotten about our past. How could I possibly ask someone to do such a boring thing? We're on the same team now. What good does it do me if you're always late and in a bad mood? Will I get a promotion because of it?"

Du Long quickly cleared himself, but Shen Bingqing said angrily, "You're still trying to talk your way out of it. Those two thugs wouldn't have implicated you for no reason."

Du Long sighed and said, "You know I've offended a lot of people recently. It's not surprising that someone would set up a trap for me. What's strange is why they chose you... Do they think it's so easy to sow discord between me and others?"

Du Long's words made Shen Bingqing think, but he wasn't easily convinced. He looked at Du Long coldly and said, "Whether what you say is true or not, I will investigate. I hope it's not you, or I'll never believe a word you say again!"

Du Long smiled at him, and seeing his confidence, Shen Bingqing began to doubt his judgment. The elevator arrived, and Du Long waved to Shen Bingqing, saying, "I'll go first. Take your time investigating. I'll also keep an eye on this. I won't let anyone who tries to harm me get away with it!"

Du Long entered the elevator and went down to the first floor. He went to the security guard at the parking lot to get the keys to the minivan, drove it out, and went straight home. On the way, he called the Viper. When the call connected, Du Long scolded the Viper for being an idiot, telling him to have his people cut ties, but they had directly implicated Du Long when caught by Shen Bingqing. Du Long was furious.

The Viper was confused by Du Long's scolding. When Du Long finally paused, he stammered, "Brother Long, I did send people to harass the two people you specified, but the matter was long over. Those guys didn't know who had hired them, so how could they have implicated you? This is strange. Could it be someone else?"

Du Long calmed down and said, "Find out who is trying to harm me. I give you two days to investigate this. If you fail, it's on your head."
