Chapter 4

All the zombies on the way here had been cleared by Wang Fusheng, so there were no other zombies in the alley where Wang Fusheng was hiding. After retreating, Wang Fusheng moved back more than ten meters, allowing the six pursuing zombies to see him run into the alley, his figure disappearing from the sight of the other zombies.

When the zombies had advanced about five meters into the alley, Wang Fusheng pounced. His previously relaxed muscles instantly tensed, and he struck a zombie's neck with the steel pipe in his hand, twisting its neck bones and causing it to convulse on the ground before falling silent.

Bang, bang, bang! In less than five seconds, all six zombies were killed by Wang Fusheng. Four of them had their necks broken by the steel pipe, while the other two died from repeated strikes to vital areas. Zombies are the result of human mutation, so their weaknesses are the same as those of humans. However, due to the mutation, their resistance and pain tolerance are far beyond that of ordinary people.

Especially because of their low intelligence, they seem to have forgotten what fear is. Even if you break their limbs, as long as they can see you, they will still crawl towards you. Pain seems to mean nothing to them. Turning all humans into zombies like themselves is their only obsession, like the grudge of a vengeful spirit.

Therefore, the simplest and most direct way to kill a zombie is to twist its neck cleanly. The second best target is its groin, and the third is its heart. Of course, this refers to hand-to-hand combat or cold weapon combat. If you have a gun, the forehead is the first choice, as a single shot to the head can easily solve everything. But Wang Fusheng didn't have a gun.

Using the same method, Wang Fusheng attracted and killed over thirty more zombies. However, those ten or so strong zombies remained guarding the supplies, refusing to move. Even more frustrating for Wang Fusheng was that they seemed to have a certain formation, allowing one of them to spot him and call the others to attack him together.

While ordinary zombies have low intelligence due to the viral mutation, some strong humans, when mutating, bear more of the viral load, making them stronger and slightly more intelligent than other zombies. This is why these ten or so strong zombies were stubbornly guarding the supplies and could still call out to each other, even though they had lost the ability to speak.

Wang Fusheng could easily kill these ten strong zombies with his bare hands, but he didn't have the agility of a martial arts master to avoid being touched by them while fighting. His clothes were ordinary and would tear easily.

Looking at the greenish claws and slightly green and black teeth of the strong zombies, Wang Fusheng shook his head. If he were to be scratched or bitten by them while fighting, he would be in trouble. Therefore, a direct attack was not an option unless he had an antidote for the zombie virus.

"How many points does the simplest antidote for the zombie virus cost?" Although Wang Fusheng had been fighting for hours, he quickly adapted to the environment, treating himself as a soldier on a mission in a war-torn area without supplies.

He imagined having a base behind him that could airdrop supplies, but it would require points to exchange for them, not given for free. This was similar to the post-war era, where only those who worked had food, and those who didn't work would starve, as there was no money to support idlers.

"An ordinary zombie virus antidote costs 10 points per vial, effective for treating bites or scratches from zombies within one hour. The drug takes effect in 20 minutes."

"Within one hour of infection, the drug takes effect in 20 minutes, meaning that simple bites or scratches from zombies can be treated within 40 minutes. As long as you're not surrounded by multiple zombies attacking non-stop, 40 minutes is enough to choose the right time to inject the antidote. But the weather?"

Wang Fusheng looked up at the gray sky, with something that looked like radiation dust or dark clouds moving quickly. The wind was strong, even stronger than when the water and food were airdropped. If he were to exchange for an antidote now, it might be blown away to who knows where.

"Forget it, relying on others is not as good as relying on yourself. I'll have to figure it out on my own." Clearing the items dropped by the zombies, Wang Fusheng now had a few bullets, some unknown materials, and some gun parts.

"Fortunately, these low-level zombies dropped the simplest pistol parts. If they dropped random parts from various old guns, it would be a disaster." Dumping the parts from his backpack, Wang Fusheng skillfully assembled the gun.

Although he was a super soldier trained in modern warfare, he still preferred old-fashioned steel guns to the modern laser guns with energy clips. Many soldiers on the battlefield favored old guns because modern laser guns, to maximize their power and accuracy, were sealed and couldn't be disassembled.

In contrast, old guns could be disassembled, cleaned, and oiled, then reassembled. A top marksman could understand every part of his gun and touch them, which was crucial. A marksman has a deep bond with his gun, formed through careful maintenance and cleaning during downtime.

Although the pistol Wang Fusheng was assembling had been obsolete for years, he quickly put it together, being a gun enthusiast.

Click, click! Loading the magazine, chambering a round, and disengaging the safety, Wang Fusheng looked at the black six-shot pistol he had assembled, his face breaking into a childlike smile, pure and innocent, a bit naive, carefree, and slightly sunny, very clear.

Simple Pistol: A simple assembly pistol, effective range 50 meters, magazine capacity: 6 rounds. Can fire continuously, attack power 100.

"Your killing power is higher than mine, and in the hands of a good marksman, you could kill me several times." Glancing at the system's description of the pistol, the attack power seemed a bit out of place, but this was a game, and it needed some game elements. It didn't feel too awkward, after all.

"Twelve strong zombies, seven bullets, how do I do this? A zombie's skull isn't a bird, you can't hit two with one shot. And the power of this pistol..."

Counting the strong zombies and looking at his pistol, Wang Fusheng shook his head in frustration. Even a human's skull, let alone a zombie's, wouldn't allow a bullet to pass through one and hit another. Even if it did, the deformed bullet would lose much of its power and wouldn't cause significant damage to the second target. Therefore, it was impossible to kill two strong zombies with one shot.

"Let's see how many I can kill. Maybe after killing the strong zombies, they'll drop some bullets or a fully loaded submachine gun, and everything will be easier." Comforting himself, Wang Fusheng began to regulate his breathing, remembering that with so few bullets, he must remain calm and make every shot count, avoiding any waste.

When his heart rate stabilized and his expression became calm, but his eyes sharp, Wang Fusheng darted out from his hiding place. Bang, bang, bang! Three shots in rapid succession, almost overlapping, showing how fast he could shoot. The three shots hit the heads of three different strong zombies with incredible precision.

However, strong zombies don't have ranged attacks, and with Wang Fusheng's marksmanship, he could have shot six times and hit all heads. But after three shots, he stopped, and the scene fell silent, with only the echoes of the gunshots lingering in the air.

About a second later, Wang Fusheng looked at his wrist, where his points remained at 101, the total from killing over 50 zombies and the points he had after exchanging for food and water, with no change.

Roar! Just as Wang Fusheng was puzzled why the three strong zombies he had shot in the head, hitting vital areas, didn't die, they roared and quickly pounced on him.
