Boom! Another explosion echoed. Wang Fusheng, whose face changed drastically, was directly thrown out. Although the explosion's force was mostly blocked by the concrete pillar, the close-range explosion was like a cannon blast in his ear.
The concrete pillar was instantly destroyed by two-thirds, and Wang Fusheng, who was thrown out by the explosion, rolled a few times when he landed, avoiding injury. However, when he got up from the ground, he swayed like a drunk, taking a long time to stand steadily. After a few unsteady steps, Wang Fusheng sat down again, shaking his head to clear his mind. After a while, the world in front of Wang Fusheng slowly returned to normal, no longer swaying, but his ears still buzzed.
"I must never do this again; I almost got myself blown up." Wang Fusheng, who was still shaking his head, stood up again. Although he still felt a bit unsteady, he was much better than before. Looking at the concrete pillar he had used to dodge the explosion, which was now unrecognizable, Wang Fusheng felt a wave of fear, almost having given up his life.
But Wang Fusheng couldn't figure out why the third gas canister didn't explode when he shot the other two. The three canisters were tightly bound together. In the end, only the two canisters that were hit by the bullet exploded, and the third one was thrown here by the explosion's force, then exploded due to the impact, almost sending Wang Fusheng to his death.
"Are you done with me?" Wang Fusheng couldn't help but look up at the gray sky, then shook his head and walked towards the center of the explosion.
The explosion from the two gas canisters was already powerful, and with the glass and small, sharp metal pieces Wang Fusheng had placed on them, the killing range was astonishing. Within a 20-meter radius, there were no intact bodies. Strong zombies were either torn apart by the explosion or killed by the sharp metal and glass. Wang Fusheng's points instantly increased by 153. Adding the 30 points he earned for surviving the first three hours, he now had 284 points.
"Three simple pistols, 7 clips of bullets, this is... a sniper scope, and three grenades. Ha, not bad, not bad at all." Seeing his points, Wang Fusheng started to smile, and after clearing the battlefield, he was even more delighted.
Simple Grenade: Explosion range 5x5 meters, damage 100.
"What does 'damage 100' mean? Does it mean that within the 5x5 meter range, the damage is like being hit by a pistol with an attack power of 100?" Looking at the grenade's description, Wang Fusheng showed a puzzled expression, but then he shook his head: "No matter, it's a good thing anyway."
After collecting the items, Wang Fusheng went to the supply drop location and finally got water and food. By this time, his basic attributes had dropped by two-thirds. Clearly, the continuous high-intensity running and fighting over the past three hours had left him very tired.
Finding a safe place, Wang Fusheng sat down, though his ears were still ringing. But it didn't affect his hearing much. He opened the supply package and drank some water, then slowly chewed and swallowed the food.
"Emergency distress call, emergency distress call. In War Ruins 01542, at coordinates 412, 316, someone is calling for help, someone is calling for help. Please nearby players respond urgently, please nearby players respond urgently."
Just as Wang Fusheng finished eating and drinking, preparing for a short rest, he was browsing some game introduction materials on his electronic device, hoping to find useful information. Suddenly, an alarm sounded from his wrist device, and a regional map automatically popped up on the screen. There was a small red dot and a small green dot on the map. The red dot was moving and was in a gray area, indicating a place Wang Fusheng hadn't been to yet. The green dot represented Wang Fusheng himself, who was standing still.
"Are there other players in this war ruins?" Wang Fusheng looked at the electronic map and was stunned. He then put away the food and water, placing them in his backpack. Following the map's markings, Wang Fusheng ran towards the location of the distress signal, avoiding zombies where possible and quickly eliminating those he couldn't avoid.
Five minutes later, Wang Fusheng arrived at the location of the distress signal. Seeing nothing around, he scratched his head, puzzled: "Is today April Fool's Day?" Wang Fusheng shook his head, speechless, and prepared to leave.
However, just as Wang Fusheng was about to leave, his expression suddenly changed, and he looked into an alley. A faint tremor grew louder, and the ground began to shake. A mountain-like shadow rushed out of the alley, and Wang Fusheng's pupils contracted, his face showing surprise.
A man over 1.8 meters tall but weighing over 200 kilograms was running towards him. As the fat man ran, the ground seemed to tremble with his jiggling fat. What surprised Wang Fusheng was not the fat man's size or his mountain-like appearance, but his speed. The fat man was running at a speed that could break the 100-meter dash in under 9 seconds.
Behind the fat man was a three-meter-tall zombie king, with a green body, a twisted arm, and missing eyes. The zombie king was very muscular, with several severe scratches that had stopped bleeding. Behind the zombie king were at least 300 zombies, including at least 40 strong ones, making Wang Fusheng's scalp tingle.
"Why are you alone? Are there no other players in this war ruins? I've been calling for help for a long time, why did you only come now?" Seeing that only Wang Fusheng had come to his rescue, the fat man looked surprised, his remaining eyes showing disappointment. The fat man had heard the explosion and ran towards it while sending a distress signal, but only Wang Fusheng had come.
"I don't know if there are other players. I came as soon as I received your distress signal. There might be other players, but the range of the distress call is limited, so they might not have received it. Even if more players came, it wouldn't help. Most players don't have proper weapons, let alone protective gear. They would be killed by these zombies with just a touch. What did you do to earn such hatred from these zombies?"
Wang Fusheng had no choice but to run with the fat man. He couldn't stop; if the zombies appeared one by one, Wang Fusheng wouldn't be afraid, and even facing the zombie king alone, he had a chance with 7 clips of bullets. But with so many zombies together, running was the only option.
"I don't know what happened. I found an abandoned factory in the northeast corner, a car manufacturing plant. I wanted to see if there were any usable cars to drive away from this place. But then that big guy appeared, and I started running. The more I ran, the more zombies gathered, and it ended up like this."
The fat man looked aggrieved, panting as he ran. Despite his sweat and jiggling fat, he ran surprisingly fast, leaving Wang Fusheng speechless. This was definitely the fastest fat man Wang Fusheng had ever seen.
"An abandoned car factory." Hearing the fat man's words, Wang Fusheng's eyes lit up, but looking back at the pursuing zombie horde, his expression turned grim. As he ran, he looked up at the surrounding buildings, finally focusing on two 20-story buildings.
This was a war ruin, with most tall buildings collapsed. The remaining tall buildings were in danger of collapsing, but the two buildings Wang Fusheng was looking at, though also in danger, were relatively sturdy compared to other 20-story buildings.
One building was about 25 stories tall, and the other was about 23 or 24 stories, slightly shorter. From below, they looked almost the same height, but Wang Fusheng's sharp eyes could tell which was slightly taller and which was slightly shorter. The distance between the two buildings was about 6 meters, making them almost adjacent.
"Let's run up there." Wang Fusheng patted the fat man and pointed to the slightly taller building.
"Will this building collapse when we climb up? And what if there are zombies inside? If we get trapped, we're done for." The fat man looked at the swaying building, worried.
"Even if there are zombies inside, there shouldn't be many. Zombies like to wander, not gather in one place. Besides, if we don't shake off the zombies behind us, we'll be exhausted. Zombies have more stamina than humans. When we're tired, they'll still be energetic."
"How do we get down? The stairwell is narrow, which can slow the zombies down and stretch their formation, but how do we get down after we go up?" The fat man was clearly very smart, understanding Wang Fusheng's plan.
"Trust me, if I can get you up, I can get you down. This is the only way to shake off the zombies. If you don't go up, I'll go up alone, and you can keep running down there." Wang Fusheng looked at the fat man and, without waiting for his agreement, rushed into the building.
"Brother, I'll trust you this time. If we die, we die together, and at least we'll take one with us." The fat man shouted at Wang Fusheng and also rushed into the building. The first part of his words was reassuring, but the second part made Wang Fusheng glare at him.
"Just kidding, absolutely kidding. I was just trying to lighten the mood." The fat man's face showed a sheepish smile as he followed Wang Fusheng into the stairwell. At this point, the elevator was out of the question; climbing the stairs was the only way.
