549: The Tiny Rabbit

In the future when the little guy regained his memories, he would show him the videos he secretly recorded. By then the little guy’s face would definitely be interesting to watch!

Little Bun blinked his sleepy eyes. Why did it suddenly feel cold? Woowoo. . . mom left him behind again. He was the most unfortunate little guy ever!

The class excursion was located in the Red Leaf forest outside Zhongyang city. It was named this because there wasn’t a single green thing in the forest; all the plants were red from the bushes, to the leaves, to the fruits.

Since everything was red you had to look at the shape and size to tell one fruit to another.

Adventurers and mercenaries went into the forest to find medicinal plants and hunt various monsters that lived there every year.

The mission for the class this time was to find a certain medicinal plant used for drug refinement called cage grass.

It wasn’t an expensive plant but it only grew in a few places, one of which was the Red Leaf forest.

Their mission was to find cage grass. Whoever found the most after three days would get the highest score while those who didn’t find enough would either get a low score or no score at all.

“The forest is so big and the grass isn’t concentrated in any one area. If you want to get a high score, you’ll have to go deep into the forest.”

“But there are many strong monsters deep in the forest, so it will be dangerous.”

“Yeah, it’s true. Why don’t we form a team and divide the grass amongst the group based on contribution?”

“Good idea. It’s too dangerous to go it alone. It’ll be safer to be in a team.”

People were discussing how to best go about completing the mission. In the end about half the students formed teams while the other half felt they would get more grass plants by going solo.

Feng Wu and Ink[notes] formed a two-person team.

Hua Jin formed a team with several girls she had a good relationship with. She watched Feng Wu and Ink walk into the forest with a cold glint in her eye. In three days, she would make sure Feng Wu would be rejected by Ming Xi.

Feng Wu and Ink were good friends so they had no problems partnering. Other teams had disputes about the division of goods, but the two of them had no conflicts. There was no reason to argue. Since there was only the two of them, just split the bounty two ways.

The bigger monsters that grew in the forest were aggressive, but were rare. They generally turned a blind eye to intelligent life so long as they weren’t bothered. Only a few attacked humans on sight. The smaller monsters were generally meek and afraid of humans. Just a human shadow was enough to scare them away.

Cage grass grew easily but only grew in specific areas. They grew prolifically in clusters, so if you found one, you would find a bunch more in the same spot.

Feng Wu and Ink had good luck and found 200 in one day. Because there were so many people gathering the grass, the grass that grew along the periphery of the forest were quickly picked clean and Feng Wu and Ink had to move deeper into the woods to find more.

That evening, their mood was good as they found a place to set up camp. They built a fire and ate all kinds of delicious things they had prepared earlier.

“Xiao Wu, what are you talking to that little guy about?” Ink ate a drumstick as he looked curiously at the fiery red bunny in Feng Wu’s arms.

The bunny was just an ordinary bunny monster. It was called a fire bunny because it attacked enemies by spewing fire from its mouth. It was very timid around people and usually ran away from humans. If it weren’t for Feng Wu, it would never have dared get so close.

“Little Red says she knows where there are a lot of cage grass. She will take us over tomorrow.” Feng Wu touched the little bunny’s fur as she answered Ink.

“Oh, that’s great. This bunny is really helpful.” Ink smiled, happy with the bunny’s contribution. He thought about finding some of the bunny’s favorite foods and offering it as a thank you.

“Little bunny, I’ll help you pick wild fruits tomorrow. Tell Xiao Wu what you want to eat and I’ll pick some for you.” Ink knew the bunny wanted to help Feng Wu and that it had nothing to do with him; he was just benefiting from proximity. There was nothing wrong with gifting the little bunny some fruits. As for Feng Wu, he’d treat her to a good meal once they got back to school! Ink made his decisions easily.

The little bunny understood human language so she understood Ink’s intentions.

Feng Wu helped translate and told Ink the little bunny liked fruits from outside the Red Leaf forest.

Ink thought for a moment then remembered he had some spiritual fruits in his dimensional space. He picked the two biggest and ripest one and held them out in his hand to the little bunny.

The little bunny really wanted to eat them but it didn’t dare, so Feng Wu carried it over and let it sniff the fruits. The little bunny timidly took a small bite, then another and another. It uttered a sound of satisfaction every few bites; clearly, she was very pleased with the fruits.

The bunny wasn’t as weary of Ink after it finished eating the fruits.

Feng Wu and the little bunny chatted while Ink listened to the side. Ink didn’t understand animal language but he was able to guess what they were saying from Feng Wu’s replies.
