The earth rumbled like thunder, and at the end of the valley, a group of dark, monstrous beasts suddenly appeared, rushing towards the entrance of the Tongyou Valley, which the Xu family was guarding.

These were a batch of beasts that had left Fangtian City earlier to sweep through other areas, just like the first batch of beasts that the Central Capital City had encountered. After these beasts had swept through the countryside outside the city, they returned to Fangtian City only to find that all the beasts around the city had vanished without a trace.

Instinctively, the beasts sensed the aura of other beasts coming from the direction of the Central Capital City. Without the beast-attracting talismans, these beasts followed their usual habits and rushed towards the Tongyou Valley, intending to pass through it to reach the Central Capital City and join their fellow beasts.

The Xu family was unaware of these events. Upon seeing the beasts, they assumed that Xu Haobo's prediction had come true, thinking that a large number of beasts had gathered to launch a general attack on the Tongyou Valley. Everyone was frightened, their faces pale. Xu Ziyun, too, was taken aback, never expecting that beasts would actually appear in front of her. She had always thought that all the beasts had gathered at the foot of the Central Capital City.

There was no time to wonder why. Right in front of Xu Ziyun, the Xu family disciples began to suffer casualties under the beasts' magical attacks. Just from the first wave of magical attacks, the Xu family lost over a dozen disciples. Those outer hall disciples who were not yet powerful enough to cast spells and could not help immediately began to carry the injured and dead away.

The dead were placed to one side, and the injured were treated. In fact, the outer hall disciples were not entirely helpless. When they left the Central Capital City, the family had given each of them ten talismans. However, considering the limited number of talismans, Xu Haobo had not yet allowed the outer hall disciples to use them. Instead, he planned to have them step in when the inner hall disciples' magical power was nearly depleted, using the talismans to block the beasts while the inner hall disciples could rest and recover.

Xu Ziyun clung to a large rock, peering out at the beasts continuously attacking. The Tongyou Valley was filled with a dense, endless sea of beasts. At this moment, the benefits of the defensive structures they had built became apparent. The Xu family disciples, hiding behind the defenses, continuously cast spells, dealing significant damage to the beasts.

Xu Ziyun's gaze swept over the crowd, and she saw her second uncle calmly directing the defense and offense, which brought her some comfort. After all, this was the first time Xu Ziyun had experienced a beast tide; she had never even known what a beast tide was. As she searched, she spotted Xu Lin, who was currently riding a sword, slashing through the beasts. His fingers traced magical seals in the air, and his movements were graceful and fluid.

The battle lasted nearly two hours. When the inner hall disciples' true essence was nearly depleted, the beasts finally retreated, leaving a field of corpses behind. Xu Haobo immediately ordered the inner hall disciples to rest, while the outer hall disciples took their positions, preparing to use the talismans to block the second wave of the beasts' attack.

Xu Ziyun stood behind the defensive structures, seeing that there were still so many beasts in the opposite valley, and she couldn't help but frown, thinking to herself:

"With so many beasts, and each Xu family disciple having only ten talismans, can we, with over a thousand people, hold the Tongyou Valley even if we just fight to the death?"

As she thought, she felt increasingly worried.

Soon, the second wave of the beasts' attack began. The outer hall disciples were divided into five teams, each guarding a section of the defensive structures. Xu Gan, Xu Wen, Xu Tianxiao, and Xu Dongxue each led their subordinates to their positions, while Xu Ziyun, with the remaining fifteen new disciples, guarded a small section of the defenses, carefully watching the beasts rushing towards them.

"Release!"

"Release!"

"Release!"

"Release!"

Xu Gan, Xu Wen, Xu Tianxiao, and Xu Dongxue shouted in succession, and their subordinates, the outer hall disciples, tore the talismans in their hands and threw them at the beasts. Instantly, a loud rumble filled the air, with various spells and colors intertwining. The beasts fell in droves. Seeing the beasts surge towards the area she was guarding, Xu Ziyun shouted:

"Release!"

She was the first to throw the talisman in her hand, and the fifteen people under her command also threw their talismans. A massive explosion erupted in the defensive area in front of Xu Ziyun, with limbs and flesh flying everywhere.

A single talisman could last about a quarter of an hour. When the outer hall disciples had thrown their fifth talisman, Xu Haobo led the inner hall disciples back to the defensive structures, replacing the outer hall disciples who went to rest.

Although the outer hall disciples had not consumed much of their true essence, their faces were pale, as if they had been drained of all their energy. This was because they had never experienced such intense combat or been so close to danger before. The mental pressure had taken a toll on their physical strength. So, when they heard they could go down to rest, they immediately felt weak in the limbs.

Taking advantage of the fifth talisman's effectiveness, the outer hall and inner hall disciples quickly switched positions. As Xu Ziyun retreated from the defenses, she saw Xu Lin approaching. When Xu Lin reached Xu Ziyun, he handed her a stack of talismans and whispered:

"Take them, for your protection!"

Xu Ziyun glanced at the talismans in her hand and quickly pushed them back to Xu Lin, saying softly:

"I don't need them! Keep them for your own protection!"

Xu Lin quickly pushed the talismans back into Xu Ziyun's hand and said urgently:

"Stop arguing. I have some reserves. I'm going up, take care of yourself!"

With that, he took large strides and rushed back to the defensive structures. Watching Xu Lin's retreating back, Xu Ziyun felt a warm current in her heart, and a thought flashed through her mind:

"The feeling of being cared for... it's really nice!"

"Ha ha!"

A giggle came from beside her, and Xu Ziyun snapped out of her reverie. She quickly put the talismans into her storage bag and turned to look at Xu Li, who was smiling at her.

"Why are you looking at me?"

Xu Li smiled and said, "I'm happy for you that someone cares about you!"

Xu Ziyun's face turned a bit red. Seeing that Xu Li was about to say more, she pinched Xu Li's waist and said:

"Little girl, what are you talking nonsense for?"

Xu Li laughed and dodged, pointing to Xu Qingsnow on Xu Ziyun's left and said, "Not just me, Qingsnow saw it too. Sister Ziyun, don't try to hide it!"

Xu Ziyun turned to look at Xu Qingsnow. Seeing her cold and calm face, she felt a bit relieved. She thought, with Xu Qingsnow's personality, she wouldn't pay attention to such things. What Xu Ziyun didn't expect was that Xu Qingsnow, with her clear, large eyes, nodded seriously and said:

"Yes, I saw it too!"

Xu Ziyun was completely flustered!
