"......My phonograph..." Wen Yan felt like crying. The phonograph itself wasn't the main issue; the key was that the music inside was carefully selected and particularly loved by her, accumulated over several years. But now it had all turned to dust.
"Uh..." Lu Ping was at a loss for words. Wen Yan had only wanted to help him, so it was partly his fault. He wanted to say he would replace it, but how much would it cost? Lu Ping thought, he shouldn't promise something he couldn't afford, which would be embarrassing. Thinking of this, Lu Ping hesitated.
"Leave me alone, let me cry for a while." Wen Yan quietly shrank back. If anyone else had smashed her phonograph like this, she would never have let it go. But facing the fierce and unknown Chu Min, Wen Yan didn't dare to argue and honestly backed off.
"Continue." Chu Min completely ignored her and shouted to Lu Ping from a distance.
"Yes." Lu Ping hurriedly returned to the practice of picking up the trash fragments.
Is it the process, not the result?
After pondering these words, Lu Ping quickly understood. He wasn't trying to achieve a breakthrough; what he needed to master was control, the kind of control many people had already grasped at the Perception Realm. Using external aids was just a quick way to achieve the final result, but he couldn't possibly take out a phonograph to play music every time he used the Resonance Soul in battle, right? Although, thinking about it, it did sound pretty cool.
Snap!
Lu Ping was a bit distracted this time, and his control was poor; the fragment in his hand split into four pieces.
Lu Ping took a deep breath, looked back at Su Tang, adjusted his mindset, and continued.
The sun rose higher, and although the forest was shaded, it gradually became stiflingly hot. Lu Ping was just doing a very simple action, but the continuous control of the Soul Force was very mentally taxing, causing sweat to bead on his forehead, which he ignored.
Sigh...
After an unknown amount of time, Lu Ping let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and took a short break. Without the aid of speech or music, he had returned to the starting point, making no progress.
At the window, a stool was pushed out.
"Sit down!" Wen Yan said.
She hadn't left, finding a random book in the library to read while keeping an eye on Lu Ping and Su Tang's practice.
She still didn't understand Su Tang's situation, but she couldn't disturb them anymore. Both were extremely serious and focused, and Wen Yan now regretted her initial interruption. She was just curious about what kind of motivation they had for such perseverance. Was it just for the Soul Selection Conference? In Wen Yan's world, the Soul Selection Conference didn't provide such strong motivation.
Seeing Lu Ping stop to rest, Wen Yan pushed the stool she had brought over. Lu Ping's practice didn't require a specific posture, and sitting would at least save some energy.
"Thank you." Lu Ping didn't refuse Wen Yan's kindness, even though standing didn't make him feel particularly tired.
The practice continued, while Chu Min just sat under the tree drinking wine, offering no further guidance. In the morning, she had already drunk three bottles.
The sun was almost at its zenith, and Wen Yan's stomach had growled twice, but Lu Ping and Su Tang showed no signs of stopping.
How crazy? Wen Yan thought but didn't dare to disturb them.
Rumble...
The sound of wheels rolling reached her ears. She saw the two boys who had climbed to the Dean's office yesterday, one pushing the other, entering the forest.
Chu Min, who had been drinking, finally looked up at the returning pair. Even Lu Ping, who had been focused on his practice, stopped and looked over at the sound of the wheelchair.
"What are you playing with?" Mo Lin was stunned when he saw the piles of trash fragments by Lu Ping's feet.
"Practicing." Lu Ping said.
"Interesting." Mo Lin praised, then asked, "Do you want to eat?" He held up the bag in his hand, having brought food back with him.
"Sure." Lu Ping nodded.
"Su Tang, Teacher Chu Min, let's eat." Mo Lin called out.
Oh no!
Wen Yan, whose stomach had been growling, was frustrated. They were about to eat, but she wasn't included.
Chu Min walked over, but Su Tang showed no reaction.
"Su Tang, come eat, come eat!" Mo Lin raised his voice, but Su Tang still didn't respond, moving awkwardly and comically through the forest, performing various actions.
Xifan's expression changed; he had realized something. Mo Lin, after Su Tang's second non-response, also looked surprised.
"Ah? She's already started?"
"Yep." Lu Ping nodded.
"When did she start?" Mo Lin asked.
"When you left." Lu Ping said.
"So, she agreed right away?" Mo Lin was still surprised, amazed by Su Tang's decisiveness and determination.
Lu Ping walked over and patted Su Tang.
Su Tang stopped, tilting her head as if asking what to do.
Lu Ping took her hand and led her over. Su Tang immediately understood and followed, her steps more confident and steady than when she was practicing alone, because she now had a reliable guide.
Xifan and Mo Lin watched Su Tang silently.
They had returned to the forest, which meant they had agreed. Su Tang's current state was what they would soon experience. For Xifan, it was much more than that.
Lu Ping led Su Tang back and helped her sit down.
She couldn't feel the aroma or taste of the food, but the temperature could be perceived by the Pivot Soul and the Force Soul. Su Tang quickly sensed the warmth of the food, reached out to feel the heat, and smiled.
Lu Ping picked up a spoonful of food and brought it to her mouth. Su Tang sensed the warmth and opened her mouth to eat.
There was no taste, absolutely no taste. Su Tang shook her head, as if telling everyone about this regret.
Wen Yan had come over to them, still not fully understanding Su Tang's condition. When Lu Ping helped her walk over, she began to realize. She couldn't resist coming closer to see for herself. Upon approaching, she was almost certain that this girl had lost many of her senses.
"What happened to her?" Wen Yan asked in surprise. How could this happen? Was it from yesterday's injury? This was too pitiful.
"Four senses have been stripped away, leaving only the Force Soul and a small amount of Essence Soul." Lu Ping said.
"How could this happen?"
"Practicing." Lu Ping said.
"Are you... crazy?" Wen Yan was stunned.
"It gets crazier!" Xifan smiled.
"You..." Wen Yan looked at Xifan. She wasn't stupid, in fact, she was quite smart. Knowing that Su Tang was practicing with only the Force Soul left, she realized the key to this method. If Xifan were to use it, he would strip away all five senses, leaving only consciousness, a state even more maddening than Su Tang's.
"Is this your teaching method?" Wen Yan looked at Chu Min.
