Chapter 54

In fact, Youdou had overlooked one piece of data: the植入广告 for Rolex and the subsequent advertising sponsorship contract. Of course, these were unique to Tang Feng, and so far, no other live streaming host had received such substantial advertising support.

Moreover, it didn't even mention the sales and views of Tang Feng's live streaming videos on Youdou Video.

But even with just this, the outside world was already in shock, and more people began to pay attention to the online live streaming platform.

This was undoubtedly a publicity stunt by Youdou Live, but it also made the industry insiders see that the biggest winner behind this publicity was not Tang Feng, the main character, but Youdou Live!

Compared to Youdou Live's gains, Tang Feng's income was just a drop in the bucket. Youdou Live, relying on Tang Feng, a rising star in the live streaming industry, completely upended the entire online live streaming sector. Many websites that operated live streaming platforms suffered heavy losses, all because of Tang Feng from Youdou Live!

The one most affected was naturally Starlight Live, which had initially promoted Tang Feng to Youdou!

Before this, who could have imagined that a small live streaming host could cause such a huge sensation and have such a significant impact?

Starlight Live even held an emergency meeting, and some even proposed bringing Tang Feng back to Starlight. Surprisingly, this proposal was approved, but the result was obvious: although Yan Jianghua had left Starlight Live, Tang Feng would never return to Starlight. It was just a one-sided wish on the part of Starlight Live.

The effect of this publicity on Tang Feng's income was better than expected, and Yu Shengnu naturally wouldn't miss the opportunity to capitalize on it.

She quickly convened an internal meeting and proposed a plan for a live streaming host competition, which was quickly approved.

Of course, to host a Youdou Live host competition, it was essential to have Tang Feng, the flagship figure of Youdou Live.

"Host King Competition?" Tang Feng was taken aback when he heard Yu Shengnu's words.

"Yes! We want to take advantage of your popularity to host the first Youdou Live Host King Competition. If this goes well, we will hold it annually! How about it? Are you interested?" Yu Shengnu asked, looking at Tang Feng.

"Do you want me to participate?" Tang Feng was a bit puzzled. Given his current popularity, if he participated, the competition would seem somewhat unfair, as the gap in popularity was too significant.

"Of course not!" Yu Shengnu shook her head. She wouldn't be foolish enough to do that; wouldn't that undermine her own reputation?

"Then what do you mean?" Tang Feng asked, relieved but still puzzled.

"You are now a flagship figure among live streaming hosts. If the first Host King Competition doesn't have your participation, it would be hard to justify. Of course, if you were to participate, the other hosts wouldn't even need to compete. So, I want to invite you to be a judge for this Host King Competition." Yu Shengnu explained.

"Judge?" Tang Feng was taken aback; he hadn't thought of that.

"Yes, a judge. I think you would be the perfect judge, and neither the audience nor the other hosts would have any objections!" Yu Shengnu said.

"About that, you know, I might not have that much time!" Tang Feng said.

"You misunderstood. You don't need to appear in the qualifying rounds or the first round of the competition. You only need to be a judge in the final. Don't worry about the appearance fee; I won't treat you unfairly!" Yu Shengnu said.

"Alright... But what are the specific rules and requirements for this Host King Competition?" Tang Feng asked, curious.

"First, there's the qualifying round. All hosts can sign up, with no entry barriers and completely free of charge."

"Hosts will live stream in their personal live rooms to accumulate popularity for the next stage. The top 100 hosts with the most votes from the audience will advance to the next round."

"Then there's the elimination round. Each contestant will draw a random number and perform in sequence. The audience in the competition room will vote, and the judges will score. The top 16 contestants with the highest scores will advance to the final. In the final, contestants will randomly draw pairs for PK matches until the Host King is determined!" Yu Shengnu explained the rules.

This online talent show format seemed too ordinary to Tang Feng. It was the most common method in the current entertainment industry. Tang Feng had many ideas for talent shows, all of which were better than this, but he didn't plan to share them.

After agreeing with Yu Shengnu, Tang Feng went back to prepare the script for the web series. Of course, he also needed to consider how to select suitable actors during the live stream and make the live stream exciting. This was definitely a significant challenge.

Tang Feng chose the web series "Diao Si Men Shi" (Mr. Loser).

Although he was familiar with the plot of "Diao Si Men Shi," the world he was in was different, and some of the plots were not suitable for this world.

For example, the football aspect. In his previous life, the Chinese national football team was a sore spot for all fans, but in this life, although China's football team was not a top-tier team globally, it was a strong team in Asia and a regular participant in the World Cup. Therefore, the poor football skills plot from "Diao Si Men Shi" in his previous life wouldn't work here.

This "Diao Si Men Shi" was a humorous web series created by the live streamer Dapeng, inspired by a German series "Diao Si Nv Shi" (Ms. Loser). Unlike traditional sitcoms, "Diao Si Men Shi" had no fixed setting or duration and was a fragmented comedy with distinct online characteristics. The overall plot had no continuity, and it was a collection of jokes performed by a fixed cast in various roles.

The key to the success of this short series was its crazy, self-indulgent, and boundary-pushing performances, all aimed at making people laugh.

Tang Feng chose this series because such a short series didn't require a grand production or outstanding acting skills, making it perfect for practice, especially for the Chen Shao and Chen Jun brothers.

Tang Feng knew nothing about scriptwriting, such as character development, shot division, or main and subplots, but that didn't stop him from writing the jokes in his own way.

It was simple; his script had only two parts: characters and dialogue.

In the first scene, Tang Feng didn't copy the plot from his previous life, as there was no Phoenix Legend in this world.

Instead, he wrote down the segment that left the deepest impression on him.

The first joke was simple: the protagonist bumps into a beautiful female employee in the office, and they both try to let each other pass. Suddenly, the protagonist slaps the female employee hard and curses, "SB," before walking away.

The biggest feature of "Diao Si Men Shi" was that when the protagonist encountered a situation, he often reacted in an unexpected and unconventional way, leading to a hilarious and unpredictable outcome that hit people's funny bone.

Just like this joke, the normal development would be a beautiful encounter between the protagonist and the female employee, but the result was the opposite: the protagonist, in a fit of anger, slapped the female employee. This was a microcosm of the series: you see the beginning, but you can't predict the end.
