Chapter 68

"Absolutely not! What kind of joke is this? I've never acted before, and I don't even know how to act!" Tang Feng waved his hands and said.

Acting is different from writing and singing songs. Acting is something intangible, while songs, once heard and remembered, can be written and sung. However, even if you remember the plot and scenes clearly, it would be almost impossible to replicate an actor's performance, especially for Tang Feng, who has enhanced memory as a穿越者 (穿越者 means someone who has traveled through time or space, but in this context, it refers to someone who has come from another world or time). While it might not be difficult for him to recreate the scenes, it would be nearly impossible to replicate the actors' performances.

"There's no joke here, really, Young Master Feng. We all think you're the most suitable person for this role. First, you wrote the script for this short drama, and no one understands it better than you. Besides, didn't you say that this short drama doesn't require high acting skills? So, the fact that you've never acted before isn't a problem," Chen Shao said.

"Moreover, originally, there would have been no issue if you had recruited a complete newcomer to act in this short drama. But who asked you to bring in a Best Actress? Now, if you say you want to find a newcomer to act opposite her, do you think it would work?" Chen Shao asked in return.

"Am I not a newcomer?"

"But you're different! Right now, all the news is about you and Dong Bingbing, which is like free publicity for our short drama. As the male lead in the scandal, if the audience finds out that you, the male lead in the scandal, are not the main character in our short drama, wouldn't they be very disappointed?" Chen Shao said.

"But I really don't know how to act. I don't even know how to face the camera, let alone act!" Tang Feng waved his hands urgently. Indeed, he had no idea how to act. Writing scripts and stories was one thing, but standing in front of a camera and acting was something he truly couldn't do, whether in his previous life or now. The most he had done was live streaming in front of a computer camera, which was completely different from a film or television camera.

"Does that mean if we solve the problem of you not knowing how to act, everything else is fine?" Chen Shao looked at Tang Feng and asked.

"I guess so!" Tang Feng hesitated for a moment and nodded.

However, as soon as he said that, Tang Feng felt something was off. Chen Shao and the other two looked at him with a sly smile.

"Hehe! That's not a problem at all. You forgot that our female lead is a Best Actress? It doesn't matter if you don't know how to act. I'm sure the Best Actress would be happy to teach you. With a Best Actress as your teacher, acting might be difficult to master, but it should be more than enough for our short drama," Chen Shao said with a grin.

Tang Feng: "..."

"Got nothing to say? This is what you said just now. As long as we solve the problem of you not knowing how to act, everything else is fine. So, the male lead is settled!" Chen Shao said with a cunning smile.

"You guys... I really can't do it!" Tang Feng tried to make one last stand. The reason he was so resistant was not only because he genuinely didn't know how to act but also because he had a certain unease about Dong Bingbing.

"Phew, how can a man say he can't do it?" Li Fang said with a sneer.

"I propose a vote! Those who agree that Young Master Feng should play the male lead, raise your hands!"

As soon as Chen Shao finished speaking, the three of them raised their hands. Tang Feng rolled his eyes; these three clearly had a premeditated plan and didn't give him any room to refuse.

"Minority obeys the majority. Young Master Feng, you're in!" Chen Shao and the other two smiled smugly.

In fact, Tang Feng wasn't unaware that they were right. He was indeed the most suitable person for the role, but the thought of spending so much time with that woman made him uneasy. Her moods changed faster than anything, and who knew what she would come up with next.

With the male lead settled, the other roles were easier to handle. The four of them then discussed the short drama further. Since the Spring Festival was approaching, the shooting of the short drama would likely be postponed until after the spring.

In fact, after listening to Chen Shao and the others, Tang Feng realized that acting was far more complicated than he had imagined, even for a low-budget web series. The amount of work involved made his head spin. If it were a TV series or a movie, the complexity would be several times greater.

Actually, Tang Feng had never intended to be a director or an actor. He knew his limits very well.

...

The news about Tang Feng and Dong Bingbing remained hot, and many media outlets wanted to interview the parties involved. Unfortunately, Tang Feng and Dong Bingbing had gone off the radar after the live stream. Dong Bingbing secretly flew to Tianhai City the next morning to participate in the filming of "Manjianghong."

As for Tang Feng's original residence, the reporters found it empty. Tang Feng's small nest was already vacated and moved out!

Although Dong Bingbing was the lead actress in "Manjianghong," her role wasn't very substantial. "Manjianghong" was primarily a male-dominated production, so she left the set and returned to the capital shortly after filming began. If not for this, the subsequent events wouldn't have happened.

"Brother Zhou, Director Lu!" When Dong Bingbing entered the set, she saw the lead actor Zhou Qingyun and Director Lu Chuan talking and went up to greet them.

"Truly, one shouldn't speak ill of others behind their backs. Speak of the devil, and he shall appear!" Zhou Qingyun joked with a smile.

"Oh? What were you saying about me?" Dong Bingbing asked, somewhat surprised.

"We were saying that Bingbing has a bright future ahead!" Lu Chuan said with a smile.

"Director Lu, are you also teasing me like Brother Zhou?" Dong Bingbing pouted.

"I'm not teasing you. If you don't believe me, ask Qingyun!" Lu Chuan said with a smile.

Dong Bingbing looked at Zhou Qingyun with some confusion.

"That's right, Bingbing. You really opened our eyes. When we first saw the news, we thought it was just the media exaggerating. But the truth turned out to be even more surprising. You really gave us a lesson, Bingbing!" Zhou Qingyun said with a smile.

"You guys knew about it?" Dong Bingbing blushed slightly.

"Yes, we all knew! At first, I was as confused as everyone else about why you did it. That song, well, it really opened our eyes!" Zhou Qingyun smiled.

"Do you know why I say you have a bright future?" Lu Chuan looked at Dong Bingbing and asked with a smile.

Dong Bingbing shook her head. Although she was a Best Actress, she was still far behind these two. Zhou Qingyun was a veteran Best Actor with countless film and television works to his name, and Lu Chuan was one of the four most recognized directors in China.

"Being brave enough to颠覆 (颠覆 means to subvert or overturn) your image and show people your changes will broaden your acting range. A Best Actress is definitely not your endpoint! That's great!" Lu Chuan praised.
