Sure enough, there is nothing wrong with being misunderstood. But of course, this big misunderstanding has to be explained clearly. Rong Xi hurriedly and patiently said to Wen Heng, “No, no, no, she is just a classmate of mine, and I have too many books. She brought some over for me. No, does it happen to occupy a place in the reading room?”
Wen Heng smiled, “Unexpectedly, you are quite caring.”
“What?” Rong Xi asked subconsciously what it was and couldn’t help but ask. After that, he remembered that Wen Heng was talking about the Debate Club, and couldn’t help but joked, “That’s not the case, the registration fee is so expensive, I can’t lose it.” The
This is first time he heard Rong Xi joking seriously, Wen Heng can’t help but be happy.
Seeing Wen Heng’s smile, Rong Xi thought about what he had promised Wen Heng: to invite him to dinner and tried to casually mention it, “Last time I promised to invite you to dinner, what about today? Do you have time? Let’s go out to eat together!”
Listening, Wen Heng smiled. The more you get along with Rongxi, the more valuable things you can discover about Rongxi. It’s like the promise of “I will invite you to dinner another day”, If it were anyone else, he’s afraid that they would never mention it again but this person still remembered it eagerly.
It was indeed boring to ask them to read, but Rong Xi was able to defend himself firmly. Even when he accidentally knew about his birthday, he carefully prepared a gift. How could this person be so good?
“Okay, what do you like to eat?”
“I invite you to dinner, you should choose it.”
“That’s fine, I can choose. But, what food do you dislike and especially like to eat?”
Although Wen Heng agreed to choose, but did not forget to pay attention to what Rong Xi likes to eat. To be honest, Wen Heng doesn’t really have anything he like to eat or dislike. In fact, he has no choice at all, he has to eat whether he likes or not. So Rong Xi obediently replied, “I can eat anything.”
“Aren’t you a picky eater?”
“Not a picky eater.” To feed, Rong Xi added in his heart. Wen Heng smiled, “It seems that when I was young, my mother always forced me to eat more vegetables, so let’s go to the pedestrian street?”
“Okay.” Wen Heng decided where they were going, and Rong Xi naturally didn’t want to look unwilling. Taken by Wen Heng, he came to a restaurant specializing in soup.
They went up to the second floor and chose a position by the window. It was almost seven o’clock in the evening, the sky was going to be dark, and the lights outside were gradually shining. The location was also very good, just next to an elegant lake nearby.
Wen Heng sat quietly on the opposite side. The lighting of this store was also very good, which made Wen Heng’s temperament look very good, like a male protagonist from a movie; introverted, handsome, kind, gentle and capable to save the world.
Of course, Rongxi’s entire world was saved.
Such Wen Heng made Rong Xi unable to remove his eyes, but he did not dare to look more greedily. So Rong Xi had no choice but to cast his gaze out of the window to see the lake, not daring to move half a minute further there.
The store here requires ordering by scanning the code. Rong Xi finally retracted his gaze and glanced at the QR code on the table. He took out his mobile phone and planned to scan it, but Wen Heng stopped him, “I brought you here today. There is no reason for you to pay the bill. Besides, I have not thanked you for giving me such an exquisite birthday gift, and I shall repay you. Put the phone away, behave.”
Wen Heng spoke and pressed his hand against Rongxi. He wanted him to put it down, but accidentally touched Rong Xi’s fingertips.
Rong Xi’s fingers trembled, and the little thoughts that he should insist were coaxed by Wen Heng soft words. He immediately lost the thought of resisting. Especially in the end, the gentle “behave” made Rong Xi obediently put the phone away.
He decided not to take it out while he was eating, and then he saw Wen Heng on the phone looking quite interestingly for a while, and then it seemed that he wanted to pass the phone to Rong Xi for him to click, but the distance between the table was a little bit far. Wen Heng felt that it was inconvenient when the child was so far away so he just leaned over and sat next to Rong Xi and handed him the phone.
“Look at what soup that you like to eat? The soup here comes with rice. If it’s not enough, you can add it.” Wen Heng said.
Rong Xi looked at the phone Wen Heng handed over, feeling a little nervous. This was the first time he touched Wen Heng, and it was a phone. Rong Xi was a little bit excited. He couldn’t help asking Wen Heng, “You seem to know this store very well.”
“It’s not an understanding. They*1 like to come here and I’ll follow them. I didn’t expect it would come in handy today.” Wen Heng smiled.
1- I think he’s referring to the friends they played with last time
Speaking of the unintentional listener’s intention, Wen Heng said he came over to eat with them before, and was able to bring Rong Xi today, so he didn’t come in vain before. There was a feeling of being valued, which made Rong Xi feel happy. He used Wen Heng’s cell phone and Rong Xi returned the cell phone to Wen Heng after ordering the meal in a cautious place.
Wen Heng glanced at what Rong Xi had ordered, and smiled, “You can eat so little like this?”
“It’s not too little.” Rong Xi looked a little cramped.
“It’s okay. I’ll order a few special dishes here. We will order again later.” After ordering, Wen Heng stopped staying here and got up to sit in his seat.
Rong Xi finally breathed a sigh of relief. When he got too close to Wen Heng, he was always a little cramped. Especially when he had to pass the phone over just now, it was too intimate. The restaurant environment is still relatively good. There are still people playing the violin. The song Rongxi cannot understand, but the sound of the violin is softer, which suits the atmosphere of the restaurant.
“You said you were from Jincheng Second Affiliated Middle School, right?”
“Yes.” Rong Xi didn’t know if Wen Heng wanted to find a topic to chat or listen to, but no matter which reason it is, Rong Xi Du is cheered up enough to go along with it.
“What class were you in at that time?”
Rong Xi was unwilling to answer this question, for fear that Wen Heng would think of something. But since Wen Heng asked, he could only bite the bullet and answer, “I was in class 397.”
“Class 379?”
Wen Heng was naturally surprised. At that time, he was two years higher than Rong Xi, and Rong Xi was year one in high school and he was the third year in high school. Class 397 in the first year of high school can be said to be notoriously messy. Fighting is common place, and there are even suicides. However, the suicide was stopped, but the girl was not saved. At that time, it shocked the whole school.
And this class can be said to be disfavored by all teachers. Although the Jincheng Second Affiliated Middle School is a good school, this class is indeed a mudslide in the whole school. Rong Xi said that he passed the E major in this class, which shows… how difficult it is for him.
Rong Xi knew that he shouldn’t have say it. Seeing Wen Heng hesitated to speak and then stopped makes Rong Xi became nervous. He regrets that Wen Heng came out, what should he do if Wen Heng asks more and more later? Rong Xi was too nervous to speak, and looked at Wen Heng cautiously, worried that Wen Heng would be disappointed with him, and Rong Xi was afraid that he could not bear it.
Whoever dislikes him, he can bear it, but Wen Heng, he can’t bear even the disgust in his eyes. That is simply deadly poison, like a bloody spikes in the throat. Unable to help it, Rong Xi’s fingers began to tremble. If Wen Heng continue to mentioned that matter, he was not sure if he could continue to sit here and eat. Rong Xi is doing psychological preparation for himself. At least, he must be able to stand up and leave.
Then he heard Wen Heng’s voice. Unexpectedly, without any disapproval, he even gave him a trace of pity, “Then you must have had a hard time.”
“It’s okay.” Rong Xi breathed a sigh of relief.
Wen Heng’s eyes softened, “I didn’t expect you to come out of that environment. I admire you.”
What? Wen Heng did not dislike him… and said… he admire himself… For so long, everyone has disregarded him and abandoned him. In those days when he was going through it, no one had ever used the two words of “admiration” for his persistence. Not a word, never.
For the first time, Rong Xi hated his cowardice. Why didn’t I have the courage to say a word to Wen Heng at that time, even a single sentence would not make the time of those years so dark and opaque, like a closed hell, without seeing the sun.
“Thank you.”
Wen Heng seemed to see that Rong Xi’s mood was not right, as if he was not willing to mention the previous things. Why do he has so little self-control. He can clearly see that others are unwilling to say so why make it difficult for them to be strong?
If…
if it is normal, he would but this is not the case at all. Usually, he would choose to withdraw from things that others don’t want to mention and just be a quiet passerby. But Rong Xi was different. From the first day he met Rong Xi, Wen Heng couldn’t help but want to know more about him. Wen Heng categorized such emotions as- curiosity killed the cat.
However, if Rong Xi did not want to say then he would not force it. He could now treat Rong Xi better and better. After all, the present is the most important thing, isn’t it?
Just when both of them had their own concerns, someone finally came to serve the food.
Rong Xi was finally relieved, that he had a chance to say something else. Looking at the exquisite dishes on the table, Rong Xi finally knew why Wen Heng liked it. Every dish looked mouth-watering. Just by looking at the color, he knew that the chef had worked hard.
Wen Heng smiled and said, “Try it, this soup is delicious and not greasy.”
“Okay.” Rong Xi was still very happy. After all, it was the first time to have dinner with Wen Heng. It was like being on a date. It’s too sweet.
Just when Rong Xi took his first sip of soup, Wen Heng was heard asking him, “By the way, when is your birthday?”
“Ah? Oh, October 25th, according to the lunar calendar.” Rong Xi answered in an orderly manner. Even the lunar calendar or the solar calendar was answered clearly, and he couldn’t help thinking in my heart, is Wen Heng wanting to give him a gift?
Sure enough, Wen Heng said with satisfaction, “That’s great.”
Translator’s note:
Seeing this novel gotten such a low review on novelupdates is very disheartening. Even I have not finished reading the novel so I could not say much, but I hope people don’t play around with ratings if they haven’t read it because it gave me such little motivation to continue translating. I don’t want to translate something people don’t want to read. I love this novel very much though so I won’t consider dropping it anytime soon but I would really like to know about what you all are thinking.
Anyway, we finally got a glimpse of Rong Xi’s past on this chapter. Poor baby, Wen Heng better treat him well or else.
