Lin Lang looked at the now empty seat opposite of her.
On the table was a small book. Its pages fluttered in the wind and she smiled faintly. She was aware that her smile held traces of bitterness.
Hai Lan asked her who she was. How could she tell her she came from the Western Liang (Xi Liang of the Sixteen Kingdoms) nation, the nation that existed in the same Yuncang continent as the Eastern Tombs?
However, when Hai Lan went to the Eastern Tombs, Western Liang no longer existed. Hundreds of years ago, the country had been sealed off by Long Wushuang (Frostless Dragon), Western Liang’s emperor, and the empire disappeared overnight. When foreigners approached the national border of Western Liang, they could only see the frost and snow that lined the sky. The temperature was so low that once people stepped in, they would freeze to death.
The people of other countries thought that all the Western Liang natives had died, they would’ve never expected that the Western Liang people were able to live and thrive in that snow country. The Western Liang people had been taught many skills and methods of defying the cold, severe eternal winter by Lord Wushuang. However, they were unable to leave the country and likewise, nobody could enter. Long Wushuang brought a handful of people to the Heavenly Realm and converted them into immortals. And she, Nian Linglang, was one of them.
Long Wushuang had the ability to imprison an entire nation in eternal winter because he was the Emperor of Heaven’s, Long Fei Li’s, son. At birth, he inherited his father’s formidable spiritual power and obtained Long Fei Li’s assistance.
Long Fei Li was originally the Dragon Emperor of the Western Sea (Xihai; Yellow Sea), and was later reincarnated as Western Liang’s monarch. After all the tribulations and calamities that ensued in his lifetime, he passed his throne to his only heir, his son Long Wushuang. He returned to the Heavenly Realm to reunite with his wife Xiao Qi and became the new Emperor of Heaven.
He and Long Wushuang froze the Western Liang nation because several hundred years ago, major changes had occured in the Heavenly Realm. The three divine Buddhists of the Heavens thought Long Fei Li’s temper was too vicious and unbefitting of the title ‘Emperor of Heaven.’ With the assistance of a few wildly ambitious gods and celestial beings, they convinced many of them to join forces against Long Fei Li.
Long Fei Li’s position as Emperor of Heaven was approved by Fei Tian, the ancestor of ten thousand Buddhas. However, at the time, Fei Tian had descended to the Mortal Realm (earth) to undergo tribulations. The reason for his mercifulness was because he had experienced many hardships from living as an ordinary man. Fei Tian was required to go through all Eighty-One (1) Tribulations, and after a millenium, he’d be able to return to the Heavenly Realm.
In Fei Tian’s absence, most of the Buddhas had remained neutral, there was only one who took Long Fei Long’s side, and that was the Xiushu Buddha. Seeing as the Heavenly Realm was in a state of confusion and turmoil, Long Fei Li ruthlessly suppressed it. That new Emperor of Heaven was already well aware of what kind of people those three divine Buddhists were, and had discerned that those three desired the Emperor of Heaven’s throne and simultaneously wanted to seize Fei Tian’s position as Buddha while he was still undergoing his tribulations.
Long Fei Li was scornful and indifferent toward the Heavens and the Earth. The only person he loved was his wife Zisu. However, Zisu reincarnated in China as Xiao Qi. They were no longer in the same time and space.
Fei Tian was benevolent and his heart was unpredictable. When Long Fei Li was reincarnated, he ignored all the opposition from the gods and Buddhas and overrode all their objections. He gave the Xiushu Buddha the most precious treasure of the Buddha family—the Niguang Tablet (the Tablet of Receding Light). The Niguang Tablet had the ability to reverse time and space. He asked the Xiushu Buddha to give the Niguang Tablet to the Snow Wolf Emperor, who loved Xiao Qi deeply, so that the Snow Wolf Emperor could lead Xiao Qi through a millenium of time and space to reunite with Long Fei Li.
Long Fei Li promised to repay Fei Tian’s kindness, and on the day of Fei Tian’s departure, he would surely protect the Emperor of Heaven’s throne as well as defend Fei Tian’s position as Buddha.
Later, a war between the gods and the Buddhas shook the universe.
