When the three men decided to kill, they no longer showed any mercy.

The three knives attacked the beauty in unison, but she merely smiled faintly and leaped forward, as if the three men were nothing more than a joke to her.

Seeing this, Huarang shouted at the right moment, "Maiden, be careful! These three villains are extremely hateful!"

As he shouted, the beauty kicked one of the men to the ground, then leaped and flashed behind another, striking him down with a palm.

The two men were instantly knocked to the ground, rolling in pain. The last man, seeing this, hesitated to advance with his knife. Realizing he was no match for the beauty, he suddenly turned and rushed at Huarang, thinking that if he killed Huarang, their mission would be complete.

Seeing the man suddenly attack him, Huarang panicked, retreating and shouting loudly, "Maiden, save me!"

The beauty was some distance away, and even if she could rush over to save him, Huarang would likely be dead by then. Just as Huarang was retreating and shouting, the beauty suddenly raised her hand, and the man attacking Huarang fell to the ground, clutching his thigh and screaming in pain.

Huarang calmed down and glanced at the man, seeing a dart embedded in his thigh, now stained red with blood, very noticeable.

The danger had passed, and the beauty sat back on her stool, coldly looking at the three men on the ground and saying, "If you know what's good for you, get out of here. Don't force me to kill."

The three men, realizing the beauty's strength, quickly helped each other up and left.

After the three men left, Huarang truly relaxed. He bowed to the beauty and said, "I am Huarang. Thank you, maiden, for saving my life. May I ask your name?"

The beauty glanced at Huarang and smiled faintly, "If you want to know my name, tell me first why they wanted to kill you."

Huarang hesitated. He hadn't expected this beauty to be as sharp and perceptive as his sister, Huawan'er. However, having investigated cases for many years, he was well-prepared. He sat opposite the beauty and said, "To be honest, I have some money on me. Those three villains forced me to hand it over. I tried to negotiate and led them here, not realizing you were here."

After finishing, Huarang suddenly changed the subject, "Maiden, you have such remarkable skills. You must be from a wealthy family. Why are you here at this time? Are you meeting a lover?"

Hearing Huarang's flattery, the woman wanted to strike him, but as she raised her hand, Huarang quickly said, "If you don't want to say, that's fine. But you must tell me your name. I owe you a great debt and will repay it someday."

These words were somewhat serious, so the beauty retracted her hand and said, "I am Wenmeng. I don't need your repayment. I am waiting for someone here. If you have nothing else, please leave."

Hearing this, Huarang smiled. His guess was right. A woman like Wenmeng in the Guandi Temple at this time could only be meeting someone.

Though Huarang felt a bit smug, he also had a nagging worry. If Wenmeng was meeting a lover, what would he do?

"Beautiful maiden, did I come too late?" Huarang thought, smiling. "Wenmeng, a good name. Since you are waiting for someone, I will take my leave." Huarang got up and left the Guandi Temple, but he didn't go far. He hid nearby, wanting to see who Wenmeng was meeting. If it was a lover, he would be jealous.

The sunset was fading, and the afterglow illuminated the stone steps in front of the Guandi Temple, making the moss appear even greener. Huarang kept a close eye on his surroundings, and Wenmeng's bright, warm eyes and her gentle smile kept appearing in his mind, captivating him.

Thinking this, Huarang decided that in this life, he would marry Wenmeng, protect her, and make her happy, ensuring she never suffered.

This was a man's promise to the woman he loved. Though he hadn't spoken it aloud, Huarang had engraved it in his heart.

Just as Huarang was thinking this, a light footsteps approached. Though the steps were light, they didn't escape Huarang's ears. With years of investigation, his hearing was quite good.

Huarang looked up and saw a handsome, distinguished man in white approaching the Guandi Temple. The man held a folding fan but didn't open it. When he reached the temple entrance, he tapped the door three times with the fan and then asked, "Sister Wen, may I come in?"

When Huarang heard "Sister Wen," he felt a surge of jealousy. The man called her so affectionately; it seemed he was indeed her lover.

At that moment, Wenmeng came out and bowed, "Brother Fang Baiyu, I am very happy you came. But you know why I invited you here. I just want to know your decision."

Fang Baiyu's face changed slightly, then he opened the fan and fanned himself, "We grew up together. Since you don't dislike me, why do you refuse my proposal?"

Huarang, hiding in the shadows, was thinking of how to win Wenmeng back from Fang Baiyu. Hearing this, he suddenly felt elated. Wenmeng was indeed meeting someone, but to refuse a proposal. This was truly a stroke of luck.

At this moment, Wenmeng also felt embarrassed but said after a moment, "Brother Fang, you are right. Our families are both martial arts families, and we are well-matched. My father and your father are good friends. But in matters of the heart, I... I don't want to force it. I have always seen you as a brother, not in a romantic way."

After hearing this, Fang Baiyu closed his fan, his face turning red. He looked at Wenmeng and said, "You weren't like this before. Our relationship was always good. Do you have someone else in mind, so you are leaving me behind?"

"Someone else?" Huarang, hiding in the shadows, couldn't help but say this. As soon as he spoke, Fang Baiyu suddenly shouted, "Who's there? Come out!"

As he spoke, Fang Baiyu's figure suddenly turned, and he leaped toward where Huarang was hiding.
