Seeing that she had managed to grow a second tail, the little white fox became more diligent than ever. Although Zhu Feng’s life was getting better, there was no worry and no task for her to do to help him, but she still had daily tasks that could still be done. That is, to make Zhuo Feng feel happy! She remembered that this task was very easy, and a few times before, she had gotten wish points by virtue of making Zhuo Feng happy.
But she never imagined that the task that was thought to be easy was so difficult to complete! She tried many methods such as giving Zhuo Feng delicious food, performing amusing tricks, playing cute and rolling around, and even helping him warm the blanket, but 001 just didn’t reward her with wish points. As these actions have become their daily habits and part of their lives, she can no longer make people feel extra happiness!
Very depressed, the little white fox huddled herself up and covered her face with her tail. She was so stupid! Why did she work so hard to solve all Zhuo Feng’s troubles as soon as she came? If she fixed it little by little, Zhuo Feng would feel happy all the time. Unfortunately, by doing that, she suddenly raised Zhuo Feng’s standard of living, and Zhuo Feng was satisfied with everything and felt constantly happy. It was no use trying to make things better. She was stupid!
But then, the little white fox thought more deeply about it and felt sure that if she had to do it all over again, she would still do it the same. Zhuo Feng was a good man, and it was impossible for her to watch him get into trouble and only watch, just for her to cultivate smoothly. So, she must be a good fox, right? She probably won’t be able to change her weakness of not being able to see the person she was guarding unhappy.
This way was not going to work. The little white fox didn’t dwell on it for long, quickly picking up her spirits to find another way. She went to the pet shop to pay attention to online trends, but unexpectedly found that Fu Xueqing’s family had gone bankrupt!
Fu Xueqing’s family’s company had a huge debt which wasn’t paid back. On the day when it was declared bankrupt, her parents jumped to their deaths together, leaving Fu Xueqing alone to face the mess left behind. There was no law that says that a father’s debt is a son’s debt. If they don’t lay claim to their parents’ inheritance, they don’t need to pay the family debts. That is why Fu Xueqing ‘came out clean’ after the death of her parents without incurring huge debts. Thus, she became a poor orphan.
The little white fox cocked her head and remembered that Fu Xueqing stayed in the orphanage after her family’s incident. In the original story, Zhuo Feng had been expelled from the orphanage at this point, but now, because of her, this didn’t happen. If Fu Xueqing really lived in an orphanage, wouldn’t she have met with Zhuo Feng every day?
The little white fox grew excited at the thought of this. Fu Xueqing was coming. Would Zhuo Yichen still be far away? She must protect Zhuo Feng, beat them down, earn wish points, and get to the pinnacle of immortality! If she always gets a pillow when she’s sleepy, she’s going to be a real winner!
(TNote: someone giving a pillow when sleepy = perfect timing / something that came when you needed it the most.)
Without further delay, the little white fox immediately ran back to the orphanage. After waiting on the dormitory windowsill for 2 hours, she saw Fu Xueqing being sent to the orphanage with only her backpack with her, crying the whole while. She was sad about her parents’ departure and afraid of her future life. She looked really pitiful.
The little white fox put her head on her two front paws, reminded of her long-deceased parents a bit, missing them. But her empathy did not erase the fact that Fu Xueqing is still evil. She still hated Fu Xueqing, who is one to say she didn’t mean it when something happened, looks innocent and refuses to solve problems when she causes them, one most annoying! Compared to her, Zhuo Feng in the original plot was much more pitiful.
Zhuo Feng didn’t react to Fu Xueqing’s admission to the orphanage. All he needed in his life now was his studies, his part-time job, and his little white fox. Everything else had nothing to do with him. Even before, he didn’t pay attention to what the internet was storming up over him before. Instead, Fu Xueqing actually came looking for his door after Zhuo Feng finished school.
Zhuo Feng blocked the doorway without meaning to let her in, frowning and asking, “Something wrong?”
Fu Xueqing shed tears before opening her mouth, choked and said, “Zhuo Feng, my parents are gone, I… I became an orphan like you. I never thought… How could this happen? I don’t know anyone here, and other people in the dormitory also sneered at me, saying I tread on both sides of the fence and deliberately seduced you. I… I didn’t. Can you help me explain things? I really didn’t think about what happened between you and Yichen, and I wasn’t with you, so why would they say that about me? Zhuo Feng, you’re the only person I know. If you don’t help me, I won’t be able to do anything. You’ll definitely help me, won’t you? We are classmates…”
The little white fox rolled her eyes under the bed and fumed as she saw Fu Xueqing. How good is this emotional blackmail act?! It was her own fault that people mock her. If she didn’t explain things properly, making Zhuo Yichen misunderstand, others will suffer as well. In the end, she became the most innocent one. If this was seen by others, they would have to sympathize with her and scold Zhuo Feng for being cold-blooded, because it was impossible for Zhuo Feng to help her.
Sure enough, the next moment Zhuo Feng refused coldly. “Classmate Fu, because of you, I almost lost my scholarship and lived on the streets. My attitude is the same as before. I hope you can keep your distance from me. We don’t know each other well. Thank you.”
Zhuo Feng closed the door after he finished, and didn’t open it even as Fu Xueqing continuously knocked on the door and shouted. A few minutes later, an inhabitant from the dormitory next door couldn’t stand it, and told Fu Xueqing not to disturb everyone’s rest. Fu Xueqing felt wronged as she returned to her dormitory room.
Zhuo Feng held the little white fox in his arms and asked softly, “Are you scared? She is too noisy.
The little white fox shook her head. How can she be scared of something like this? She is a fox that has seen the heavenly thunder!
Zhuo Feng added, “Do you think I’m too cold? She is so miserable and I’m not helping. However, I really don’t want to get involved with her. When Zhuo Yichen misunderstood me and made trouble for me, why didn’t she help me explain it clearly? Honestly, it doesn’t really matter to me, but I don’t think she is worth helping. I have a hunch that it is bad luck to get involved with her.”
The little white fox just wanted to nod, but Zhuo Feng smiled and rubbed her head and said, “How can I tell you this? Even if you could understand me, you won’t understand such complicated things. Well, go to sleep quickly. It’s getting colder and colder now. Don’t send me to school tomorrow morning. Get more sleep.”
Turning off the lights, the little white fox crouched in his arms and hummed twice, wondering, who said she didn’t understand complicated things? She will definitely scare him when she can talk and show him she is the smartest fox ever!
The next morning, the little white fox sent Zhuo Feng to the school gate as usual. She always remembered the accident when Zhuo Feng broke his leg, and always felt that it was not a mere coincidence. She always believed in her intuition, so it was only natural that she should guard Zhuo Feng as much as possible. Only when Zhuo Feng was on campus would she run to find something to do.
She first ran to the hospital and marked Zhuo Yichen with bad luck. Better be safe than sorry. Just in case, what if Zhuo Yichen comes up with some method she was unfamiliar with to get Zhuo Feng killed? She had to take precautions and make it unlucky for Zhuo Yichen to do anything, so naturally trying to harm anyone won’t work!
After seeing that Zhuo Yichen could even choke on drinking water through a straw for a long while, the little white fox went to No.1 Middle School to see Fu Xueqing, resulting in her being satisfied. Once upon a time, Fu Xueqing was a rich lady and a school flower, and was always held up everywhere she went. She herself also enjoyed her status, never bothering if what she said or did embarrassed others. In fact, there are quite a few people who have been hurt by her unintentionally, but because of her status and from Zhuo Yichen’s protection, no one said anything.
Now that she was down and out, although everyone sympathized with her, they resented her even more for causing two boys to argue, and did nothing to solve it. Zhuo Feng had been targeted for a school transfer, a situation which was ultimately caused by her, but she hadn’t apologized even until now. Naturally, no one wanted to associate with her. But in Fu Xueqing’s eyes, she felt that everyone was now rude to her, disliked the poor and loved the rich. Otherwise, why did they all avoid her like the plague when something happened to her family?
It was hard for her to last until the end of the school day, so Fu Xueqing picked up her bag and ran out, crying as soon as she left the school grounds. She only felt like the sky had fallen, and all the bad things were happening to her. She had faced no greater grievance before than in the last few days.
Seeing Fu Xueqing run out, the little white fox followed her for a while. Noting that she seemed to have no intention of looking for Zhuo Feng, the little white fox quickly ran to the private high school to meet him. She ran around for a little while, found Zhuo Feng, and immediately nestled in his arms and stopped moving. She let Zhuo Feng hold her, ready to go to the pet shop for a good meal and a treat for her hard work.
By now, Zhuo Feng has gotten used to holding her in his arms, and will time and again gently stroke her fur unconsciously. Soon after, her eyes started drooping as she started to fall asleep. It is much easier to get sleepy in winter, so she was looking forward to the winter vacation. She could then sleep in without sending Zhuo Feng to school.
Just when she was about to doze off, she suddenly heard Fu Xueqing’s embarrassing voice, “Auntie, don’t worry. I won’t look for Zhuo Yichen again. From now on, I have nothing to do with him.”
Then she heard a familiar voice. It was Mother Zhuo. She spoke coldly and condescendingly, “Xueqing, don’t blame Aunt for being ruthless. Your family has become like this. You and Yichen are already people from two different worlds. I know Yichen likes you, but the two of you will not be compatible in any way in the future. Sooner or later, there will be problems. It is better not to entangle yourself from the beginning. Besides, Yichen has been fighting with an orphan for you, and has gotten in trouble repeatedly, even attracting the police’s attention, almost leaving a criminal record. I, as a mother, would never want my son to continue like this, and if Yichen comes to you again, I hope you can talk to him clearly about this. Of course, I think you should know what to say and what not to say, right?”
Fu Xueqing’s face flashed with a look of humiliation. “I understand what you’re saying, but I also want you to understand that what Zhuo Yichen did had nothing to do with me. He was the one being unreasonable. If Aunt really cares about him, go back and take care of him! “
“You!”
“I’ll leave if it’s okay.” Fu Xueqing was angry and felt wronged in her heart. She didn’t expect to turn around and see Zhuo Feng! She thought that she had only confessed to Zhuo Feng at first, and never said she liked Zhuo Yichen. Why should Zhuo Yichen’s mother warn her like this? Since Zhuo Yichen’s mother wanted to humiliate her like this, she doesn’t need to save her any face!
Fu Xueqing ran two steps to take Zhuo Feng’s arm, smiled and said, “Aunt, I really only like Zhuo Feng. I’ve never liked anyone else, so please don’t misunderstand me. Tell Zhuo Yichen when you go back, and tell him not to trouble Zhuo Feng. It is impossible for me to talk to him.”
