At the crack of dawn, Bai Weijin woke up.

She opened her eyes and stretched. Gu Yeze felt her movement, turning away to look at her.

Bai Weijin found a portable computer on his lap and dark circles under his eyes. It seemed that Gu Yeze stayed up all night working.

“Why don’t you wake me up?” Her neck was almost stiff.

Gu Yeze closed the laptop, replying, “I did, I cried myself hoarse but you slept deeply.”

For once Bai Weijin was stuck for words.

“How come? I couldn’t sleep so soundly.” His words made her flush.

Bai Weijin tended to have a light sleep, and a small noise would wake her up. However, Gu Yeze said with great certainty.

She started to doubt whether she had had a heavy sleep.

‘One night passed, my makeup must have been smudged.’ Bai Weijin sat bolt upright.

“I’m going upstairs. If you want to sit here, sit as you please.” Bai Weijin, who was always poised and confident, finally felt shy, opening the car door and running away.

Gu Yeze broke into a smile.

It got light when Bai Weijin finished a bath, which restored her vigor. Gu Yeze lay on the bed, waiting for her.

Bai Weijin was curious about why this man would look so tidy and vigorous after a night’s work.

Gu Yeze seemed to have read Bai Weijin’s mind. He grabbed her arm and pulled her over.

“What do you wanna do? Have a wash, and we go to work.” Bai Weijin urged him and feigned a displeased look. Actually, she was in a good mood.

“We are going to work after a feast.” Gu Yeze pinned Bai Weijin’s arms to her sides and kissed her on the lips.

…

An intercourse began. Bai Weijin didn’t wake up until noon.

A piece of news went viral.

Zhao’s Group went bankrupt overnight. No one knew why. Bai Weijin watched the news report, yawning and jabbing Gu Yeze with her elbow.

Gu Yeze shook his head.

Since Gu Yeze had no hand in its collapse, Bai Weijin soon figured out who led to it. She heaved a sigh.

“What are you muttering about?” Gu Yeze frowned at her sigh.

“It’s the first time that I saw Jiran got furious. How manly he is to defend his woman in this way!”

Just looking at the greying hair on the head of Zhao Lei’s father, chairman of Zhao’s Group, Bai Weijin could imagine how tough Chu Jiran was on Zhao family.

She watched happily the tragedy of Zhao family, totally ignoring Gu Yeze’s darkening face.

Next second Bai Weijin let out a cry, for she was pinned down in the sofa.

“Well? Manly?” Gu Yeze repeated her words.

“…”

“How manly he is to defend his woman in this way?”

Bai Weijin finally understood why he reacted like this. She just felt it funny.

After all, she had meant nothing but praised Chu Jiran for shielding Gu Yeyu at any cost.

She had no idea why he got jealous.

“Eh… I’m just feeling happy for Yeyu.” Bai Weijin said while shrinking back.

Her words, though, didn’t cheer Gu Yeze up, “Is there anything to do with your heaping praises on another man?”

Bai Weijin gave a wry smile.

“What I mean is, how merciless he was, which is totally unbelievable!” Bai Weijin racked her brains and finally thought of something derogatory.

Gu Yeze was pleased, letting go of her.

“Yeah. That makes sense.”

Bai Weijin was stuck for words again. Only one sentence made him jealous.

Besides Gu Yeze and Bai Weijin, there was another one watching the news.

On the sofa, Bai Yinya burst into such hysterical laughter that she nearly cried.

“Ha-Ha-Ha, Zhao Lei, you’re getting what you deserve.” Bai Yinya split her sides, her arms covering her belly. Du Meihua gave her a worried look.

“Mom, do you see that? The man who killed my baby is getting paid back. Ha-Ha-Ha.”

Du Meihua cast a glance at the television.

She also hated Zhao Lei’s guts. In her original plan, they would be related with Zhao family by marriage, and Bai Yinya would find her happiness.

Unexpectedly, Zhao Lei treated her daughter like dirt and boxed her into a corner.

“He deserves it.” Du Meihua echoed her words.

“How could Zhao family escape after we collapsed? Zhao Lei, you might be too naïve!” Bai Yinya looked glum, and soon she burst into mad laughter.

“Zhao Lei, Zhao Lei!” She kept repeating Zhao Lei’s name in a loud and clear voice.

“Yinya, I feel the bankruptcy of Zhao’s Group may have something to do with Gu’s Group and Bai Weijin.”

Memories came flooding back as the name was mentioned.

Du Meihua was lost in thought. Zhao family was a big clan, and Zhao’s Group a leading enterprise in H City. Who would expect it came to nothing overnight?

With even no breathing room. Zhao Lei’s parents learned of it at first light.

They had no idea who caused this. Throughout the H City, few were able to do it. They tried to contact Zhao Lei but failed.

Dejected, both were surrounded by press reporters at the door.

“I don’t care. I’ll settle the scores with Bai Weijin one by one.”

Once she thought of Bai Weijin, her pretty face looked forbidding.

“Mom, what do you think of the plan I said the other day? When are we gonna deal with Bai Weijin?” She shook Du Meihua’s arm with all her strength, almost pulling her down on the ground.

Du Meihua was hesitant about that.

She was worried about Bai Yinya’s psychological health, for she found her daughter more and more unstable in mental state.

Du Meihua even felt her daughter… suffered from a mental disorder.

But she dared not take Bai Yinya to hospital for a check-up, in case the painful past would be recalled.

Looking at the expectant face, Du Meihua forced a smile.
