Gu Yeze never saw her being so well-behaved, for she was not such type. He was perplexed.

Under Gu Yeze’s gaze, Bai Weijin took a deep breath. ‘No, I have to say it now.’

‘At least before I fly into a rage and give him a slap.’

Bai Weijin managed a crooked smile, saying, “Considering the good meal I’ve made for you,”

“Can… can you think about letting me go?”

‘Well, that’s the reason why you cook for me?’ Gu Yeze raised his eyebrows and made a show of pondering over her request.

‘She must have regained her senses, or she would not behave like that.’

So he didn’t need to worry about her, but…

The mild and submissive Bai Weijin gave Gu Yeze a novel sensation. It was the first time that he saw her act like this.

How come he make no good use of it?

Gu Yeze thought for a while before opening his mouth, “Do you think one meal is enough?”

‘Why don’t?’

Bai Weijin almost wanted to overturn the table and answered him back, yet she stopped once her current situation came to mind.

“Then what do you want from me?”

In order to seem much kinder, Bai Weijin even forced a smile.

Her hypocritical smile did amuse Gu Yeze, who, slowly opened his mouth after some meditation.

“You can attend the wedding on behalf of my sister, in the name of Gu family. It will take place in three days.”

“You know what to do during the period, don’t you?”

‘Shall I serve you unpaid for three days?’

‘How shameless!’ Bai Weijin was taken aback by what he said.

Just as she made a refusal, memories of her father came flooding back. Bai Weijin’s heart sank.

If she refused, then she could hardly find out the truth for the time being. Rather than rely on Gu Yeze, she’d prefer to do it herself.

Biting her lips, Bai Weijin slowly closed her eyes, as if struggling to persuade herself.

Her look could barely escape Gu Yeze’s attention. He frowned. ‘Am I so annoying?’

‘I just ask her to cook several meals for me. Am I going too far?’

“How about it? What do you think?” Gu Yeze impatiently urged.

Finally, Bai Weijin opened his eyes, making a determined and solemn reply, “Okay, I agree.”

“And I hope you can keep your word.”

Having gotten the answer he wanted, Gu Yeze nodded cheerfully and pointed to the coffee cup next to him.

“Now that you’re ready, make a cup of black coffee for me. No sugar, no milk, please.”

On hearing his detailed demand, Bai Weijin breathed a sigh of relief. ‘Fortunately, he doesn’t make things difficult for me.’

‘Instead, he seems to take delight in sending me on errands.’

Bai Weijin stepped into the kitchen, opening Gu Yeze’s exclusive coffee can. Soon she wore an astonishing look.

‘Little is left inside. Why didn’t he have these cans filled?’

Gu Yeze was the meticulous type who even paid attention to every button, for he allowed no mess at all.

‘Ordinarily, he would make no such mistakes, yet now he does. He seems to be very busy recently.’

‘Is he worried about me?’

The very thought made Bai Weijin shake her head. She managed to suppress the strange feeling inside. ‘What am I thinking about?’

‘What I need to do is to make coffee.’

The sugar cube falls into the coffee with a plop. Bai Weijin froze.

‘Oh, I should add sugar and milk into it!’

She glanced here and there while comforting herself, ‘I must have had a wrong impression. Yes, I’m right.’

Seconds later, Bai Weijin had a good, hard look, and her heart sank again.

‘I shouldn’t have let my attention wander.’

But it was the last cup. Bai Weijin’s brows snapped together, as if a tight knot in a rope.

‘What if Gu Yeze go back on his word because I make the mistake?’

The very thought let Bai Weijin down. Suddenly an idea occurred to her, and she flashed a smile.

‘It may work.’

Bai Weijin secretly craned her neck to look at Gu Yeze, who was found attentively browsing through the papers. She heaved a sigh of relief.

‘Great! He’s in a good mood now.’

Bai Weijin crept towards him, suddenly opening his mouth to ask.

“Do you always drink black coffee?”

Her sudden appearance took Gu Yeze aback so that his hands were trembling when signing a paper.

“Why do you ask this?” Gu Yeze thought for a while and continued, “I do drink black coffee all the time.”

“You know what? Always drinking coffee is not good for one’s health, especially black coffee, which hurts the stomach most.”

Her words left Gu Yeze stupefied. He cast a suspicious look at Bai Weijin and signaled for her to go on.

“So, I decide to add some sugar and milk to your coffee so that your stomach will not be hurt so badly.”

With an ingratiating smile, Bai Weijin took out a cup of coffee, on which she also used Latte Art in order to please Gu Yeze.

A rose in full bloom appeared above it. Pretty attractive.

Gu Yeze had no idea that Bai Weijin should be so good at it. He began to dither, for he hated sweet food.

But it was rare for Bai Weijin to care about him…

There was an awkward silence between them. Bai Weijin’s heart skipped a beat. ‘Can I slip through the net?’

Under her expectant gaze, Gu Yeze slowly took the coffee and took a sip, a gesture to show his approval of Bai Weijin’s cook.

‘Good! I make it!’ Bai Weijin breathed a sigh of relief. Now Gu Yeze was even not so annoying in her eyes.
