It was late when they arrived home.

After a busy day, Bai Weijin kicked her high-heel shoes off and went upstairs to her room.

It was very rare for Gu Yeze to see Bai Weijin in such a causal way, and thus he didn’t stop her.

When she finished a bath, Bai Weijin sat at the desk in her room, reflecting on the task Gu Yeze had assigned her.

Gu Yelin funded Wu’s Group with the purpose of frustrating Gu Yeze’s plan, which didn’t demand such a large sum of money nevertheless.

His ambition was surely more than that—a share in the profits of the real estate industry. So, how about making his investment a futile attempt?

Bai Weijin tapped her index finger on the desktop, a habit when she did some thinking.

She had heard of Chenfeng’s boss, who was infamous in the circle as a money-grubber and lecher. Bai Weijin despised such a guy but also found him easy to deal with since he was full of desire.

A scheme came to her mind.

She called Gu Yeze to ask about his opinion, while he didn’t answer the phone.

How strange! Was he asleep?

Chenfeng’s case was after all a weighty matter. After some hesitation, Bai Weijin decided to pay a visit to his room.

She noticed through a crack in the door that the lights in his room were still on. Thinking that Gu Yeze must have missed the phone call, Bai Weijin knocked at the door gently.

No one answered the door.

“Shall I come in, Gu Yeze?” Bai Weijin shouted but received no response, so she opened the door herself.

It was the first time that Bai Weijin entered Gu Yeze’s room. He wasn’t there.

Unsurprisingly, the room featured tones of black and gray. There were black sheets on the bed, and opposite it stood a large desk where documents were put in neat piles. A huge bookshelf was lined up with the desk.

Bai Weijin came closer and found a miscellaneous assortment of books written in foreign languages. Her alleged erudition was greatly frustrated by their obscurities and unintelligibility.

The room was plainly furnished, with no decoration or greenery.

Bai Wei had a look around in sheer boredom. She thought Gu Yeze had gone to the living room and waited for him in his room.

“Why are you here?”

Gu Yeze’s sound suddenly came and scared the hell out of Bai Weijin.

Frightened, she fell on the bed.

When did he come in? Bai Weijin patted her breast and raised her head. The sight she saw greatly took her aback.

Gu Yeze seemed to have had a bath, rubbing his hair with a towel. Drops of water ran down his bare upper body, which boasted hard muscles and fine lines exactly to Bai Weijin’s liking. Compared with those taut bodies, Gu Yeze’s muscles appealed more to her.

Fortunately, he had a bath towel draped around his lower body, yet drops flowed down his waist into the towel, which added to his sexual charm instead.

Bai Weijin felt extremely embarrassed and flushed scarlet.

Seeing Bai Weijin’s eyes glued to his body, Gu Yeze approached her step by step until there was little room left.

The soundproof room was largely to blame, which was insulated against any noise, including the sloshing sound from the bathroom.

Though she and Gu Yeze had a sexual experience, the effect of philter had thrown her in utter delirium, and contrary to the moment—all lights ablaze, it was pitch dark in the room that night.

Gu Yeze paced slowly toward her, pressing against her body.

Bai Weijin took a breath.

Gu Yeze made no stop but moved closer, with drops of water sprinkling onto Bai Weijin’s face. She was almost driven mad.

“Stop!” Bai Weijin cried out.

How could you expect a man to stop at the very moment?

Gu Yeze leaned over to whisper in Bai Weijin’s ear, “Stop? It’s you who come on strong.”

Bai Weijin turned away and said through gritted teeth, “Let go! I have something to talk with you.”

There hadn’t been intimacies between them since the accident. Gu Yeze still remembered clearly what had happened that night.

After bath, her body smelled fragrant, and her temperature was felt through a thin nightgown.

Gu Yeze had a sudden sexual impulse.

Seeing Gu Yeze take no notice of her warning, Bai Weijin got anxious and nervous. It seemed impossible for her to stop his approaching.

She struggled hard but could not free herself.

Gu Yeze found himself unable to stop when he kissed Bai Weijin on the lips. The girl was always sharp-tongued but her mouth turned out soft. Gu Yeze’s kisses were lingering and passionate.

Bai Weijin felt he was sexually excited.

“Gu Yeze… Go away!” Bai Weijin was out of breath. She felt a familiar feeling come over her, even though she took no philter now.

Why would she be aroused by the pressure of Gu Yeze’s body? Her mind went blank.

Faced with her struggling, Gu Yeze was tempted to give her a bite.

Bai Weijin cried out in pain. She pushed Gu Yeze away and immediately got up.

She moved to the end of the bed before she could blink and was some distance from where Gu Yeze was.

“What’s wrong with you?” Bai Weijin puffed and panted, glaring at Gu Yeze.

The man lounged in the bed and teased her, “Aren’t you sneaking into my bedroom in the dead of night for this purpose, Mrs. Gu?”

‘What’s the hell?’

It was not the first time that they kissed. Bai Weijin remembered clearly, she kissed him first on the last occasion.

Somehow, she was diffident about the kiss this time.

Bai Weijin had no intention of giving an explanation, for she had never won a quarrel with him concerning that topic. Also, she was in no mood for discussion about Chenfeng’s case, giving him a hostile stare and going back to her bedroom.

…

Bai Weijin still failed to calm herself down after entering her room.

Gu Yeze was a good partner. Having learned of his finesse and strength, Bai Weijin had a feeling that she was reborn after a holocaust.

Fortunately, she chose to develop a partnership with Gu Yeze rather than making an enemy of him.

Her opinion of Gu Yeze changed a little in recent days. In fact, they were alike in certain ways, and she was, in her own eyes, far from a good person.

She stuck to her principles—an eye for an eye, one kindness for another kindness.

Despite that, Gu Yeze was definitely not an ideal husband, for she would have thousands of rivals in love and endless troubles to deal with.

Bai Weijin was never afraid of trouble, but she wouldn’t ask for trouble herself.

As for their future, she hadn’t given careful consideration. Anyhow, the day would come when both of them reached their goals she finally took her revenge by giving a punishment to Bai Yinya and her mother, and Grandma Gu gave up on her grandson’s marriage.

What were they gonna do by the day? Get a divorce or continue their marriage?

The question gave Bai Weijin a headache and prevented her from further pondering. She was clear now about one thing: the way they were getting on was incorrect.

Under the previous agreement, their marriage was only nominal.

She had a sleepless night.

When she went downstairs next morning with deep shadows under her eyes, Gu Yeze was already fully dressed on the sofa waiting for her.

It came as a surprise to her to find him still at home.

Bai Weijin said awkwardly, “Why haven’t you gone to work?”

“I’m awaiting you. Don’t forget that Chenfeng’s case needs to be settled.” Gu Yeze spoke in his usual tone, and seemed to fail to recollect what had happened last night.
