Chu Jiran was astounded when he heard that it was Bai Weijin that had conducted negotiations with Chenfeng’s boss.
As far as he could remember, Zhao Kaicai was an overcautious money-grubber.
If Bai Weijin weren’t courageous and perceptive enough, Zhao couldn’t have been prevailed on.
Chu Jiran was clear about Gu Yeze’s capability, yet he didn’t expect Bai Weijin to be so able.
He asked, “What are you going to do then?”
Gu Yeze had a small glass of wine and replied, “I’m gonna put the prices up and resume the market price in three days. As to those two housing estates, they are to be put on market at the original launching price.”
“Your cousin must have found it to be a bitter pill to swallow. For him, to stop Wu’s Group from selling the estates is tantamount to bringing shame and ruin upon himself.” Bai Weijin smiled sweetly, while what she uttered was fairly caustic.
Given that the thing finally came to an end, a lovely relaxed atmosphere prevailed in the box.
Chu Jiran talked with relish, Bai Weijin echoed his views, and Gu Yeze occasionally chipped in with a few enlightening opinions.
The three people who overwhelmingly dominated H City’s economy drank to their hearts’ content.
The scene stood in striking contrast to that Gu Yelin was in.
After he applied for a long leave, Gu Yelin didn’t go anywhere but stayed at home.
Banks kept urging him to repay the loans, which bothered Gu Yelin a lot. He used nearly all his connections to sign agreements with those banks so that the situation could be under control.
The strength of his position was greatly undermined, and his years of savings used up in the war with Gu Yeze.
…
“We’ll go home now. See you!” Bai Weijin waved goodbye to Chu Jiran.
Chu Jiran smiled with a nod.
Bai Weijin and Gu Yeze got in the car.
Bai Weijin was well disposed towards Chu Jiran for his gentleness and wittiness, and Chu Jiran, seeing Bai Weijin and Gu Yeze off, showed a look of open admiration.
It was a private party today, so Gu Yeze didn’t take his driver. Yet he and Bai Weijin both drank some alcohol just now.
Bai Weijin turned her head to look at him, “Aren’t you gonna call your driver over?” ”
Gu Yeze was in a good mood, with his hands on the steering wheel, “I can do it myself.”
Bai Weijin couldn’t help casting him a contemptuous glance, “Don’t you know to drink and drive is prohibited?”
Her saying in all seriousness amused Gu Yeze. He teased, “Even if I drink and drive recklessly, no one in the whole H City can do anything against me.”
He spoke in an unbearably arrogant tone.
Bai Weijin curled her lips, “But I don’t want to die young.”
Gu Yeze unfastened the seat belt immediately, whispering something into her ear, “Don’t want to die young? You are worried about me, aren’t you?” His words gave Bai Weijin goose bumps.
“Nonsense!” Bai Weijin blurted.
Gu Yeze questioned her closely, “Since it is so, why are you concerned about my drunk driving?”
“Because I’m also in the car.” Bai Weijin was reluctant to admit it.
Gu Yeze continued to say as if he hadn’t heard her, “I promise you, I’ll be careful when driving after drinking.”
‘Who are you to make me worried?’ Bai Weijin was almost driven crazy by his cheekiness.
She turned away and stopped talking with him.
A smile lifted the corners of Gu Yeze’s mouth and he himself didn’t even realize it.
The possibility that they would live such a life in the years to come flashed through his brain. It seemed quite nice.
He was strong enough to have no fears and kept making his way alone, for in his eyes, no one could stand by his side. Moreover, he didn’t need a partner at all.
But now he was considering spending his life with this woman.
It was late at night when they got home. Gu Yeze hadn’t drunk himself to death, and the car ran smoothly.
The moment they entered the house, Gu Yeze closed the theft-proof door behind him.
Bai Weijin was taking off her shoes in the hall when Gu Yeze took her in his arms and kissed her.
“Alas…” Bai Weijin struggled to free herself.
Different from the way he acted that night, Gu Yeze kissed her hard on her lips now. Bai Weijin felt she was almost out of her head.
Gu Yeze finally let go of her, his nose tip propped against hers, “How about sleeping in my room?”
Bai Weijin was stupefied at his words. Did Gu Yeze hope to live a normal married life?
She never thought about it.
Bai Weijin tried with all her strength to wrench herself free but failed.
Gu Yeze grasped her body firmly and pressed her to him.
“Let go, Gu Yeze.” Bai Weijin got angry.
Gu Yeze ignored her cry. A pleasant scent wafted from her body, tempting him to come closer.
“Are you still gonna be separated from me, Mrs. Gu? I have no unmentionable disease, so we might as well sleep together.” Gu Yeze whispered in her ear.
“You must have got something wrong with your head. Isn’t it enough to playact before Grandma? Why shall we sleep in one room? I can move my stuff into your room when she comes to see us.”
“What I mean is, stop playacting before Grandma.” Faced with her stubborn refusal, Gu Yeze kissed her right on the lips.
‘Here he comes again,’ Bai Weijin muttered silently.
‘Originally, he behaved oddly in an indirect way, but why does he go mad openly from time to time and the lasting time is even longer?’ thought Bai Weijin.
Bai Weijin was clever enough to understand his implication.
But she wouldn’t agree on it.
Bai Weijin did learn about the reason why the whole H City was under Gu Yeze’s sway and thus held him in great esteem. ‘He just had a hormonal crush on me,’ thought she.
Gu Yeze let go of her and pinched Bai Weijin on the shoulder, “What’s your opinion?”
Bai Weijin calmed herself down and spoke slowly, “Gu Yeze, we have come to an agreement that our marriage should be nominal, haven’t we?”
Gu Yeze’s enthusiasm was dampened. He withdrew his hand and threw a sideways glance at her.
“I hope you won’t forget why we got married in the very beginning. You’ve been out of line, President Gu.” The cold stare frightened Bai Weijin, but she didn’t hold her tongue.
Gu Yeze remined silent for a while before he opened his mouth.
His voice cracked, “Well, if you insist.”
Bai Weijin made no utterance. A soundless confrontation arose between them.
Gu Yeze took two steps forward and then paused. He turned away alightly and said, “Bai Weijin, remember every word you’ve said today.”
Glancing up at his face, Bai Weijin felt her heart missed a beat. She replied in a low murmur, “You don’t have to be like this. Isn’t it good to maintain the status quo?”
“Good! It’s damn good!” Gu Yeze sounded rather terrifying like a demon.
After saying that, he went upstairs and slammed the door shut. The sound was so loud that Bai Weijin believed the timber-made entrance had split.
Bai Weijin shook her head and tried to calm herself down.
She did hope Gu Yeze would come around tomorrow.
