She never told anyone about her painful past. With no friend by her side, she always put up with all suffering all by herself.
Now she felt much better after speaking all out.
Held by Gu Yeze in his arms, Bai Weijin didn’t feel sad at all. She wasn’t the type to bemoan her fate.
She was not the one who should cry. The villains were.
Gu Yeze granted her twenty days’ leave, during which Zhang Lanxin made several phone calls, “Sister Bai, I’d like to visit you yesterday, to find that the hospital was closely watched by so many people that not a drop of water could trickle through.”
Visiting a patient was prohibited, and people in the hospital found it hard to walk out, which Bai Weijin, though, didn’t tell Zhang Lanxin. She just informed Zhang Lanxin she’d asked for half a month’s leave.
It was a good opportunity for Zhang Lanxin to learn how to take care of things by herself. As for Bai Weijin, she could shift her attention away from businesses and braced herself to settle old scores with Bai family.
…
Monday, Gu Yeze accompanied Bai Weijin to hospital for a check. There weren’t many people here.
Bai Weijin would like Zhang Lanxin to keep her company, for Gu Yeze was to hold a shareholders’ meeting this morning, but was flatly rejected by Gu Yeze.
Before they came, Bai Weijin had imagined what it was like when Gu Yeze was present.
Despite the fact that the cuts on her skin had almost healed, Gu Yeze ordered the doctor to fetch a heap of medicine and herbs—used for healing the scars.
Only a flesh wound lingered on her arm.
Experienced as he was, the surgeon quivered with fear under the cold stare of Gu Yeze.
His movement suddenly hurt Bai Weijin, who let out a cry with pain. Gu Yeze rushed up and grabbed him by the collar.
“Can you really change the dressing?” The doctor was terribly frightened, sweat pouring down his face.
Bai Weijin asked Gu Yeze to wait outside, for the poor physician dared not apply medicine over her wound in his presence.
Gu Yeze reluctantly went out and sat in a chair waiting. Doctors who passed by greeted him but all received his icy glance.
A scream came from a ward on the same floor.
Gu Yeze frowned. Somehow, he felt the sound quite familiar, though he was in no mood for enquiry.
Bai Yinya looked at the director with a pained expression on her face.
“I’m giving birth to my baby, whatever the cost!” She sat up straight, pulling the doctor by the arm.
The doctor withdrew his hand, saying, “I know how you feel, Miss Bai, but you need to calm down. The fetus isn’t developing normally and may even put your health at risk in the future.”
Zhao Lei patted her on the shoulder, “Yinya, we’re gonna have another baby…”
Bai Yinya turned away to hug Zhao Lei tightly, “Lei, ask him to save our child, please!”
She couldn’t believe her baby was congenitally deformed. Was it divine retribution? The doctor also warned her that letting it grow would have a bad impact on her health.
That was, she would have either a difficult delivery… or stillbirth.
“Miss. Bai, you’d better make a decision as soon as possible. The sooner you have an abortion, the less impact it would have on your body, or you may become infertile in the future.” The doctor said, pushing the glasses frame across the bridge of his nose.
Bai Yinya’s eyes grew wide in fear.
Become infertility? She couldn’t accept it, either. Bai Yinya thought for a moment before asking, “Isn’t there any other solution? I have a lot of money. Whatever you want, I can give you.”
The doctor was vexed by her words, “Miss Bai, I don’t want your money. You need to know the situation is now beyond redemption.”
Bai Yinya wavered in her determination.
Zhao Lei took the opportunity to persuade her, “Yinya, we’ll have another baby, I promise. Don’t let the child affect our future.”
“Let the child affect our future? What are you talking about? You seem only too eager to make me abort our baby, don’t you?”
Bai Yinya was on the verge of mental breakdown. She stood up, pointing at Zhao Lei with trembling fingers.
On hearing what she said, Zhao Lei flew into a rage. Considering that there was another person present, he pinned Bai Yinya back to the seat while growling, “Sit down, you nut!”
It embarrassed the doctor to see them quarrel. He remained silent and pretended to check the medical case report.
“Both of you want to kill my baby. Don’t you dare hurt it!”
Bai Yinya mumbled to herself. She stood up and pushed Zhao Lei away with all her strength.
Zhao Lei stumbled, muttering a curse under his breath.
Bai Yinya rushed out. There was a throbbing pain at the back of her head.
She stormed ahead and suddenly collided with a man head-on.
Bai Yinya looked up at the man, to find he looked very familiar.
She thought for a while when goggling with terror. ‘He’s Gu Yeze’s assistant! Why is he here? Did Bai Weijin order him to murder my child?’
Luo Nan saw at a glance who she was—the younger sister of President’s wife.
Luo Nan walked directly into the ward without any word with Bai Yinya. The doctor had changed the dressing for Bai Weijin. Gu Yeze also came in along the corridor.
He threw the doctor a cold glance from time to time, making the latter feel nervous again.
Luo Nan whispered something into Gu Yeze’s ear.
Gu Yeze winked at Bai Weijin, pulling her out of the ward. She was puzzled, “What are you doing? The doctor has something to say.”
“To see some fun.”
Bai Weijin understood it at once. As they walked out, Bai Yinya who squatted on the ground trembling met their eyes.
When they came closer, Bai Yinya looked up vigilantly.
“What do you want to do?” Bai Yinya shrank back in horror, though there was no room for her to shrink.
“What do you think I’ll do? By the way, why are you here instead of at the obstetrical ward, my dear sister?”
Bai Yinya was taken aback. ‘She did know about my pregnancy.’
Bai Yinya got up.
“Don’t hurt my child, or I’ll pay you back for what you’ve done!” Bai Yinya yelled, while her body couldn’t help trembling.
