Chapter 30

"Ugh... I'm getting sleepy..."

Looking at my pocket watch, I realize it's almost morning.

I'm back on the third floor, grinding to level up my Loafer and Luck stats.

The third floor is as empty as ever at night. While being cautious of other adventurers, I cast 'Speed Up' and 'Stamina Up' on myself and began slaughtering Warrior Kobolds and Warrior Goblins with my sword.

"Since my stats have improved overall, these monsters are now a breeze."

With the support magic boosting my agility, I can dispatch them with a single swing as soon as they spawn. I use mana potions sparingly, so the income from the magic stones they drop is pure profit.

"At least financially, I'm in a much better position."

At this rate, I can pay off my debt to the guild sooner. As I'm thinking about this...

"Here they come!"

"!?!"

The loud shout at dawn made all the adventurers hunting nearby look at me. I could see fear in their faces, and they quickly averted their eyes when I met their gaze. I opened the drop box and peeked inside...

'Power Up Scroll'

"Wow!?"

Unlike the previous dud, this is a useful skill scroll. With this scroll, adventurers can boost their power in emergencies, making it highly valued. 'Fire Arrow' depends on the user's magic power, but support skills don't seem to, so even when used solo, they provide a decent effect.

At the adventurer guild's price, it's worth 25 silver coins, so selling it would be quite profitable.

"Right... what about my stats?"

The drop box likely drops when my Luck stat is around a certain level. Checking hurriedly...

"Luck 330 + 75... Probably over 400, right?"

I had missed the level-up due to being sleepy at dawn, but the Warrior Kobold definitely dropped the scroll with my current stats.

"I should keep this rather than sell it."

Since it's a valuable skill I can't use yet, I decided to keep it.

"Now that I have it, it's mine! I'll hunt them all down!"

Fully awake, I stood up and began hunting the monsters that spawned with incredible speed.

"Hmm, leveling up is getting tougher...?"

It's been three days since scrolls started dropping on the third floor. I'm looking at my status screen, puzzled.

"Loafer Level 21. When I was grinding before, I could level up a Mage to 25 in three days, but the rate is clearly different now."

My stats show I'm stronger than before, so the number of monsters I've hunted hasn't decreased. Despite this, the levels aren't increasing as much, which means...

"Each class requires a different amount of experience, right?"

That's the only conclusion I can draw.

"I was aiming for Level 25, but..."

Salome told me to take two days off after today's hunt. That leaves less than a week until the showdown with Walter.

Since I still have the easier 'Merchant' and 'Scout' classes to level up, I should prioritize those.

"Well, no choice. I'll move on to the next one for now..."

Fortunately, I've already surpassed the level required for a class change. I decided to change to 'Merchant.'

---

"Hey, Tim, weren't you supposed to be off today?"

After finishing the dungeon and resting at the inn, I came to the adventurer guild's archive because there was something I needed to know.

"Yes, I was, but I wanted to do some research."

"Tim, it's good to be dedicated, but you need to rest when you should..."

Salome looked exasperated but still came over to me.

"So, what do you want to know?"

She seems willing to help.

"I want to know about the skills for 'Loafer' and 'Merchant.'"

"Merchant, I understand, but 'Loafer'? Is that a serious question?"

She tilted her head at my question. It's understandable...

"No, if you don't know, that's fine."

Adventurers generally recognize roles like 'Warrior,' 'Scout,' 'Mage,' and 'Cleric,' but there are also those who use both Warrior and Mage skills, or Cleric support skills and Scout trap detection skills.

Class skills are only recognized to the extent that 'this person can use this skill, so they must be this class.' Since I can see the status screen, I know that non-combat roles like merchants and loafers aren't even recognized as having specific skills.

"I'll look into the Merchant skills through the Merchant Guild."

"Thank you, that would be a great help."

While I don't know much about Loafers, it's not a problem since I haven't acquired any skills yet. I can wait until I get more information.

"Hey, Tim."

Salome, who was about to leave the room to gather information, poked her head in from the doorway.

"Hmm, what is it?"

"I'm planning to finish up for the day. Would you like to go for a drink? The bar owner wants to see you."

I remember the last time we went together, I ended up with a hangover.

"Sure, I'll wait here. Come get me when you're done."

"Got it. I'll wrap things up quickly."

Salome left, humming a tune.

Last time, I got too drunk, so this time I'll be more careful.
