Chapter 4

"Alright, I've confirmed the completion of the request. I'll pay the reward."

As usual, I submitted the proof of the hunt at the reception and received the reward. I was about to leave since my objective was accomplished...

"Hey, are you okay with your injuries?"

Normally, the receptionist would return to chatting with other receptionists or high-ranking adventurers, but for some reason, she approached me.

"Yeah, this is just a bit..."

I've been injured before, but this time, dealing with multiple goblins resulted in more injuries than usual. The receptionist frowned when she saw them.

"Tim, you haven't gone on two consecutive adventures before, have you? You shouldn't push yourself..."

Everyone in this adventurer guild knows that I don't have any skills. Because of this, many of the new recruits who have recently completed their training laugh at me when they see me.

"Sure, I just tried a few things, so I'm fine."

"If you'd like, I can introduce you to someone who can use healing magic?"

Since it's right after training, there are priests in the guild who are practicing their skills. Of course, it's not free, but it costs about three copper coins, which is the price of a drink in the guild.

"No, it's okay. Thank you for your concern."

"Ah..."

She reached out as if to say something, but I didn't want to spend the copper coins. I quickly left and returned to my inn.

"Well, now that I've calmed down, let's continue the verification..."

Back in my room at the inn, I took off my armor, sat on the bed, and opened my status screen.

Name: Tim

Age: 16

Job: Warrior Level 3

Strength: 51 + 6

Agility: 32

Stamina: 21 + 6

Magic: 6

Spirit: 8

Dexterity: 20

Luck: -19

Status Points: 99

Skill Points: 43

Unique Skills: "Status Manipulation"

Skills: "Swordsmanship Level 1," "Bash Level 1"

"Hey, my level has gone up again."

This time, my strength increased by 3, agility by 1, stamina by 2, and dexterity by 1. Maybe magic and spirit aren't necessary abilities for a warrior?

My status points increased by 5, and my skill points by 2. This is the same as when I was at level 2.

"For now, let's start with healing..."

I changed my job from "Warrior" to "Priest."

"If my guess is correct, this should..."

I chose "Healing" from the available skills. Just like with Bash last time, "☆☆☆☆☆" appeared, so I set it to "★☆☆☆☆."

"Huh? I can still use Bash?"

I checked to make sure I had acquired the skill, and indeed, it was "Healing Level 1," but even after changing from warrior to priest, Bash was still there.

"Well, that's fine. I need to use healing magic first."

I endured the pain and came back to test the healing magic.

"Healing"

I placed my hand on my arm and cast the healing spell. A gentle green light enveloped me, and the pain subsided, but...

"It's not healing."

The pain subsided for a moment, but as the light faded, the pain returned.

"Why? I activated the skill properly..."

I put my hand on my chin and thought for a moment.

"Maybe my spirit isn't high enough?"

When I switched to priest, the job correction values were for spirit and dexterity. If the correction values are applied to the relevant abilities, my spirit, which is only 10 with the correction, might not be enough.

"If I allocate 20 points to my status, I should see results. Also, for healing magic, maybe it's not a waste to allocate more skill points?"

I increased my spirit and allocated two more points, making my healing magic "Healing Level 3."

"Healing"

This time, the light was stronger, and the wound began to close.

"Good, it worked."

It was no different from when other priests healed me. With this, I should be able to handle any injuries.

I reviewed my status again.

Name: Tim

Age: 16

Job: Priest Level 1

Strength: 51

Agility: 32

Stamina: 21

Magic: 6

Spirit: 28 + 2

Dexterity: 20 + 2

Luck: -19

Status Points: 79

Skill Points: 40

Unique Skills: "Status Manipulation"

Skills: "Swordsmanship Level 1," "Bash Level 1," "Healing Level 3"

"The higher the skill level, the more powerful it becomes. It seems the status values are also related... So, should I increase 'Skill Point Gain' and 'Status Point Gain' first?"

I was hesitant because I was unsure and there were many useful skills to choose from. But if the points gained from leveling up increase, I should make a decision now.

As I was thinking about this...

"Ah... huh?"

Suddenly, my head started to feel dizzy, and I fell onto the bed.

"Of course... it came."

I had heard from mage and priest adventurers that when they first learned a skill, "using magic a few times would make them tired." This was why I didn't use healing magic outside...

"Is it... worse than I heard?"

A strong drowsiness overcame me.

"Maybe... I need to be more cautious... with magic..."

With that thought, I lost consciousness.
