It was a very slender man. His hair, which was a bit longer than shoulder-length, was lustrous and resembled the color of dark coniferous leaves.
His eyes were a light green, and his sharp, nervous-looking heterochromatic eyes stood out, making him look so well-put-together that it was whispered he might have the blood of the forest people.
His back view could be mistaken for that of a slender woman, and in the tavern attached to the guild, drunkards who tried to hassle him were often kicked and rolled away.
"Who...?"
"Yes, it's rare... to see him drinking in the morning."
Arjitt sighed in relief that he hadn't moved his base. Arjitt could also see the almost transparent form of a spirit, tinged with a faint green.
The spirit, dressed in a magnificent dress and roughly the same size as a man, leaned close to Arjitt's ear when it noticed him.
"Huh?"
With a presence and voice three times worse than usual, he turned to look at Arjitt.
"It's been a while, Schnell."
"Arjett?"
Schnell, who muttered Arjitt's pseudonym with a puzzled look, narrowed his eyes and stared intently at Arjitt.
The counter made a thudding sound, and the glass in Schnell's hand cracked with a sharp noise.
"What did you do with that shit equipment? Weren't you supposed to wear only that according to your family's rules?"
With deep wrinkles on his forehead, his voice was extremely irritable.
"Did some noble family fall? That super-first-class blessed sewing is a family treasure now, right? And it fits you perfectly? You damn pretty boy, die."
"You're in a bad mood, what happened? Drinking in the morning?"
"Shut up, this is a toast! I'm free from that sticky bastard!"
Schnell raised the cracked, empty glass haphazardly. If it had contained anything, he would have scattered it around.
"Schnell, he was sticking to you until this morning. A new face with no manners, trying to become your companion."
A passing guild staff member quietly informed Arjitt and then left.
"I see."
Arjitt and Endelia exchanged glances, thinking the timing was bad in a way.
"So? What do you want?"
"Actually, we're here to recruit you."
"Recruit?"
With a voice that seemed to crawl from the depths of the earth, Schnell glared at Arjitt.
"We need someone with cutting abilities or a magic sword to help a spirit."
"Cutting?"
Schnell looked at his own waist. His usual equipment was there: a whip and a dungeon-produced paper harisen for killing.
Dungeon weapons have hits and misses, and among them are joke weapons like the one Schnell possesses. Made of paper, it makes a good sound when used for a punch line. It can knock people down with impact and can usually kill most monsters when used as a weapon.
Joke weapons often have many divine blessings.
...But.
"My equipment doesn't have cutting abilities."
"I know."
"Of course."
Arjitt smiled wryly at the wary look he received.
"As a reward, we'll provide custom-made, this level of blessed-sewn equipment."
"Hold on."
Interrupting Arjitt's words, Schnell placed gold on the counter and stood up.
"Did the Nier family have a hidden child? Or did you find a new holy beast among the monster spiders?"
Schnell, hugging his shoulders, whispered seriously, as if he had sobered up.
"You're well-informed. Do you know the current strength of the Nier family?"
"I didn't mention it, but the reason I came to this country was to get the Nier family's blessed sewing."
