Chapter 63

6 min read1,432 words

"Lord Kinslone, your situation seems rather dire."

Amidst the sparks flying, Bium glanced around and smiled.

Kinslone understood what he meant. The men he had brought with him were almost all wiped out in this ambush. Equal strength, unequal numbers.

He admitted that he had made a mistake this time.

The failure of the ambush, the failure of the rescue.

Disgrace!

He hadn't felt so humiliated in a long time. Had the peaceful days eroded their will and inflated their pride?

On the street, the nobles who had fought to the death were now dead, their bodies and blood staining the ground. The remaining rioting student members had already withdrawn from the battlefield, heading towards the path of escape.

"I will kill you."

A deep, cold voice slowly emerged from Kinslone's mouth.

The inscription on his sword grew brighter, a faint white aura visible around the blade. Everyone could feel the overwhelming aura of the man before them, as if he were about to unleash a devastating force.

"Angry and ashamed, are you?" Bium laughed as if it were nothing.

"No, I need to atone!"

Kinslone held his sword horizontally in front of his chest, the intense aura blurring his cold expression.

"I heard that among the three battalion commanders of the Royal Guard, only you haven't taken the final step."

At this, Bium suddenly said something seemingly out of place.

The final step, the step for a high-ranking swordsman to fully enter the FerNu law.

This was the highest aspiration of warriors.

Only by taking that step and fully embracing the FerNu law would everything about them be elevated.

As the most powerful military force of the kingdom, the Royal Guard had countless powerful warriors in the eyes of ordinary people. The leaders of these warriors were undoubtedly the strongest in the kingdom.

But Kinslone was not.

Because above him were two people. It was those two who made him deny his own strength, preventing him from taking that final step. He never acknowledged his own power.

"Even without taking that step, it's enough for me to kill you!" Kinslone sneered.

Each step in a warrior's advancement brought different combat strength and experience. He had been at that step for a long time, and in this domain, he had absolute confidence in his superiority.

"Ha, Lord Kinslone, do you think I would let you kill me and my men so easily?"

Bium sheathed his dual blades and reached into his chest.

"To prevent various accidents, we made many preparations before we came out—"

As he spoke, an old scroll appeared in his hand.

Kinslone's brows furrowed, and his heart raced as he looked at the scroll in Bium's hand. He suddenly felt that something ominous was about to happen.

His body moved, for he did not want to give the other party a chance to unleash a threat.

In an instant, he had moved in front of Bium, his broadsword aimed at his heart, the sharp sword aura cutting through his shirt and piercing his skin.

The sword passed through, but it was empty.

Kinslone, sensing this, immediately looked up at the nearby tree branch, where he saw Bium waving the scroll and smiling at him.

"Almost—"

Bium looked down at his chest, touched the torn shirt, and rubbed it lightly. He then extended his hand, and a faint trail of blood stained his palm.

"What did you do?"

Kinslone asked coldly. At the moment he pierced the other's heart, he had disappeared.

"Just a trick, what, Lord Kinslone, are you interested?" Bium said indifferently.

"You are the first to escape my sword at such close range." Kinslone said.

"Quite an honor—"

Bium chuckled and began to grip the ends of the scroll.

"However, Lord Kinslone, I'm sorry, but I don't have time to waste with you anymore."

"Law Cage"

As Bium spoke, Kinslone forcefully stomped the ground, the powerful force causing the ground to crack into a large spider web pattern.

He leaped into the air, directly attacking the other.

Regardless of whether it would succeed, as long as there was a chance, he would not give up.

Bium, standing on the branch, smiled calmly as the longsword approached again. In his hand, the old scroll had already opened, turning into countless flying fragments.

What's happening?

Seeing the other's calm demeanor, Kinslone's heart tightened. Before he could think or react, his body suddenly plummeted, as if a heavy mountain had fallen from the sky and pressed down on him.

Landing, the pressure on his back disappeared.

In an instant, he released all his senses and was shocked to discover an unbelievable fact.

"Jump, Lord Kinslone, why aren't you jumping anymore?" Bium on the branch shouted triumphantly.

"This is the power of the law! Who are you people!"

In his perception, countless law lines formed a semi-circular dome tightly covering his body. He knew he couldn't escape, for he lacked the ability to break this confinement.

"Ha... Don't you already know who we are? I think you should ask the person behind me these questions," Bium jumped down from the branch and landed on the ground, smiling.

"Hmph, if you want to kill me, it won't be that easy!" Kinslone coldly said as Bium approached: "Even if I'm confined by the law, my strength still exists!"

"Tsk tsk, Lord Kinslone, don't think we're all as bad as you. Why would we want to kill you? Besides, the cost of killing you seems to outweigh the benefits. I wouldn't do something that would put me at a disadvantage."

Outside the semi-circular law confinement, Bium stroked his chin and smiled at Kinslone, who was like a bird in a cage.

"What do you want to do?" Kinslone asked coldly.

"We just want to confine you for a while, as we have other things to do," Bium answered casually.

Other things? At this moment, Kinslone suddenly thought of Saphirian and the others.

"Goodbye, Lord Kinslone. I think you should be more concerned about your other subordinates while you wait here," Bium turned and waved, preparing to leave.

Silently, the law cage suddenly shook violently.

Kinslone's longsword was firmly chopping at the cursed law wall, as if cutting through the air, maintaining the chopping posture.

"Give up, because you never took that final step."

Turning back, Bium sneered disdainfully.

The night grew deeper.

On the once-abandoned and sealed back road of the academy, members of the Blood Flag Society were scattered and lying on the ground, for they were exhausted.

From their bodies to their hearts.

A day of intense labor, blood-stimulated killing, and hasty retreats had almost pushed them to the brink of collapse.

They were young, and they were still children.

Not everyone was like Saf, whose heart had already been twisted.

"Angelo, you've finally come to this point."

Ambowit stood beside the silent Angelo, who was gazing into the distance, and sighed at the tired students with blood-stained clothes and swords.

"Dean, this is Tylrante's instruction, and it is also our wish."

Without avoiding, Angelo

Last night's Champions League was truly spectacular, regardless of the winner. Thank you, Bayern and Dortmund, for such an exciting match that left everyone on the edge of their seats.

By the way, the supporting characters in the school festival might seem a bit too much, and the main characters might seem like they are just playing a minor role. I've been trying to speed up the pace because this is an important setup.

The school festival is the turning point of all the climaxes, and the main characters' roles will become more prominent after that.

As mentioned in the introduction, it is a slow-burn story, and this is the situation.

The supporting characters are fleshed out, and their interactions with the story will be more intense. However, I will pay more attention to this in the future and try to make the main characters more prominent.

I used to write short stories, and as a newcomer, there might be many flaws and shortcomings in writing a long story. Please bear with me, and I will improve and grow.

Thank you to all the readers who have supported me. Even if the results are not great, I am still enjoying writing.
