Chapter 26

My husband’s parent’s house was located in a residential building in the old city district. The security wasn’t good. My husband once offered to buy them another house. They did not agree. They insisted on living in this residential building with peeling walls.
The corridors were dark because of the broken lights. A turned on the flashlight of his phone to light the way ahead. He reached for my arm and told me: “Be careful.”
I softly grunted to show my agreement. Their house was located at the third floor and opposite theirs was the childhood sweetheart’s family. My husband and the childhood sweetheart, grew up together. I didn’t know how they couldn’t have had a spark when they were together for more than ten years since elementary, junior high highschool and senior highschool. Why on earth did they hook up after I had finally married my husband?
I knew that my husband’s parents must have been involved somehow. They always did like the childhood sweetheart. Just after we entered the door, my husband’s mother was still attempting to call the childhood sweetheart to ask him to come over. I think she was using this method to let me know. The childhood sweetheart was much closer to them than I. Every time he comes over to have dinner with us, my husband’s parent’s will always ask him how he had been. Their attitude towards me is completely different.
Afterwards, when the childhood sweetheart has left, my husband’s father would resume to have a cold and indifferent expression while his mother would open her mouth to ask me money . Just like what was happening now.
My husband’s older brother A scowled. He attempted to stop his mother’s dialing hand, speaking, “There’s no need to call the childhood sweetheart to come over ba .”
I would very much like to know how this mother would react if she knew that the childhood sweetheart she was always so fond of ate her son.
I didn’t know what to do in this dinner. I admit that I am really not good at dealing with the elderly. A sent me back and apologized for his mother’s impolite words.
I graciously pretended to wave my hand showing that I didn’t mind.
For the remaining days, I began to frequent my husband’s company. I needed to be familiar with the company matters and also find out information about those group of scoundrels he called friends.
The little sister at the front desk recognized my face. She respectfully greeted me every time. Occasionally when I’d go to get some water, I could hear some employees privately discussing among themselves saying that the company will undergo changes.
It really is going to change.
When they were discussing why my husband and the childhood sweetheart were yet again absent from the film conference, I called the police.
T/N: Really….why did the husband marry poor MC…tsktsk
